I think all pets are a huge commitment, but parrots are very complex and deserve a owner who understands them. I think this video will inform people what it really takes to own a parrot. Amazing video 👍💚

My immediate reaction when I saw this was YES! If you know how to take care of them, that is. Without the interaction of a human or another bird they can fall into depression or develop anxiety.

I live in Belgium 🇧🇪 The story says that in the 80's, there was a violent storm, and a bird reserve center was damaged, letting all kinds of tropical bird species free... Free, but left alone to deal with our freezing winters 🥶 🐦... Unfortunately, all species died out, one after the other... All... Except one... 😂 Yes, you guessed it. The green IRNs actually survived the cold and started to dispatch around the whole country! Today, we have huge populations!!! I see them EVERYDAY right outside my window! They enjoy the seeds of my feeders! Last month, I even saw a blue one! Clearly an escapee. It had a ring. Looked like he had a green girlfriend! Seeing them so close everyday brings me much joy!! I love all the other birds as well but IRN are my absolute favorite to watch. Cheers

This species definetly requires a TON of patience. But it's very rewarding, the cute noises that they make and their playful characters. Also they bite a lot harder than green cheek conures :(

I couldn’t have said it better. My first ringneck parrot was a rescue and the bite I got from her was so bad that she made me bleed, but that was a learning experience and my mistake. She actually turned out to be the sweetest girl.

Well done!! When I started out all there was were very short, information ally insufficient books. Today, there isn't much excuse to not do research. Even libraries were very limited in what they had, if they had anything. Thank goodness this has changed and hopefully birds got for the wrong reasons, bird neglect and an overwhelming amount of second hand birds needing homes will drastically dwindle.

Just got an 8 month old gray one. Had him or her 3 days been talking to him lots every day off an on. But when I put my hand in to change his food snd water he seems scared frying all over the cage I bought him a big parrot cage. I guess just give him time. Pet ship also said to keep him in cage for 2 weeks before letting him out to settle in. Your one is amazing.
@Riccothegreenpiedirn2 жыл бұрын
Aww congratulations on your little one. It does take time but I wouldn’t necessarily say it needs to be 2 weeks. Is he full flighted? Try to have the cage at eye level and not be above him, it does look scary to birds. Use treats and foods to gain his trust through the bars for now and let him see you mean no harm.

What’s considered “a long period of time”?? Currently my only bird experience is, for the past 3 almost 3 months we’ve been raising a cockatiel from 4 weeks old. Patience is the biggest thing you’ll need as far as we’ve dealt with. Don’t be pushy! I really want a ring neck!!

I've always said if you cover your cage bird over as I worked in a pet shop and that was said it will frighten your bird as when you pull the cover off the slow pull will or can give it a form of heart problem
@Riccothegreenpiedirn2 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting I’ve never heard this before and never had an issue with all the birds I’ve owned over the years. I do however talk to Ricco before uncovering him in the mornings, but I’ve always felt covering the cages always gives them a sense of comfort. I would definitely not recommend it if it makes a bird freighted but it is good if it’s not in a dark room and could affect the bird from getting a good nights rest.
