Looks awesome. Very creative. We recently got ducks. And I went through a similar process. It would very helpful (humble request) to post a short update vid with progress and lessons learned and regular maintenance. I found alot of my cool ideas changed once the ducks provided the reality! For example, we didnt realize how water messy they truly are until we experienced it for ourselves. Thanks.

Take your time and explain how you completed the watering system. People like myself think it's a great idea, but need to understand how you did it. Slow it down so we can duplicate your success. I'm going to use it. You will get more likes and viewers. Good Luck Youtubing.

"Hardware cloth"; when he said "chicken wire" I almost choked. You can also source used const. safety panel fencing which will slow down even bears for a while, and I have bears where I am!!
@jacobs_fitness3 жыл бұрын
Haha thanks for the correction...I’m a first time builder that doesn’t know all the right ‘vocabulary.’ But I’m sure my ideas and video will still offer people some help 🤙🏼
@thedwightguy3 жыл бұрын
@@jacobs_fitness "chicken wire" basically lets every predator in; hardware cloth slows most of them down. It's a little more expensive, but replacing poultry is lots more money, eh?
@jacobs_fitness3 жыл бұрын
@@thedwightguy I used hardware cloth, but used the terminology incorrectly when making the video. You can clearly see it in the video. Just sharing a video on KZbin because I’m extremely proud of my work as a first timer! 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks again for your input brother! 😄

That’s a great idea - next level of what I chose. The laminate has held up well, but it’s definitely getting moisture underneath. I might get 2-3 years out of it but we’ll see 🤷🏻♂️

Hi there, when you can a flow valve, what does that mean? I’m building a duck house and it sounds like you have some great ideas. I’d like to understand better.
@jacobs_fitness3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike! A float valve is a hose valve that uses a floating bulb to cut off the water source when the water line gets to a specific height. I use it inside the PVC tube to auto-fill the ducks water when it gets low or when I clean and refill it. Let me know what other questions you have and I am happy to help!

What float valve are you using in your waterer?
@jacobs_fitness4 жыл бұрын
Sean Sloan I used this one with a hose adapter: www.ebay.com/itm/1-2-Adjustable-Float-Valve-w-Garden-Garden-Hose-Adapter-USA-Seller/164172038878?hash=item26396a82de:g:SVcAAOSw~jxb0NgT

This is awesome. How many ducks do you have??
@jacobs_fitness4 жыл бұрын
Only 2! I could probably make it with 4 max! Probably only 3 if they were domestics but I could easily have 4 mallards in the house. I have a mallard and a buff so they are a perfect fit for it. It’s like their private penthouse! And contrary to popular belief, they don’t mind the incline or the ramp AT ALL. ❤️

Really wish I raised my duck house for under draining

It's a good idea for predator control; most predators are ground based: skunks, possum in the USA, small dogs, coyotes, fox, and even the occasional barn cat.

Where did you get the pool you have in the cage
@jacobs_fitness3 жыл бұрын
I bought a restaurant bus (for dishes) tub online and simply cut a hole in the middle for a sink drain and then connected the pvc plumbing accordingly!

You will regret putting the water where they sleep. They can’t swim in that whole but they will get the water out of there and turn the sleeping area into a poopy wet mess. Also I know you said you haven’t had a issue with hawks. But they will come and you don’t want to learn by losing a duck. Get the cheap netting to cover over your outside pond. Good job on first coop for ideas. But I beg you to cover the pond, there is much run away room for them so learn from a mistake I made please

tom don I certainly will! Thank you for the advice!

That ramp is too tall for ducks
@jacobs_fitness4 жыл бұрын
Down To Earth Construction thank you for your input! I went with the recommended specs I found from multiple sources which said that a 1/3 slope is the maximum. My coop is elevated 3 feet, so my ramp is 9 feet. And my ducks have no trouble at all!
