Thanks for your info on this saw- and the port work video. I went to my dealer to buy a 572xp which they were out of stock, the dealer also carries echo and asked if I had considered the echo7310. I was not aware of it. Found your vids, bought one did a muffler mod immediately and removed carb adjustment limiters. After 3 tanks yesterday on a multiple tree removal job, I am impressed! Finishing your port job on it right now! Thanks VERY much.

Finished port work, on tank 6 now. Got out the tach to see where I was at on tank 5. Pulling 28 in bar, full skip, with the rakers at .041 in a 26in fir butt log, running 10200 in the cut and over 13000 out. A touch rich, using belray H1R 45:1 cut takes 28 secons
@brucethom49573 жыл бұрын
I am happy with this, you can push the saw and not kill it, still has power just slows the chain speed down, but it cuts faster just letting it work instead of pushing it. I did also take .010 of the bottom of the cylinder, but retained the gasket, I am not experienced at port work but I do have a full machine shop. If she blows up - I’ll send it to you for a real pro build! LOL

Update 9 tanks. Pulled top cover off to check air filter. Looked at epoxy on the transfer cover and noticed weeping around the epoxy fill joint. I used devcon steel. Looked up the specs and I don’t think it’s up to the task, says max temp wet 125F and dry , 250F. Looked up the permatex you are using- it says 300F So I will be redoing those transfer covers! The other side seems to be holding up ok, wonder if it holds more heat on the closed side?

I'll be doing my 7310p shortly. Instead of the epoxy route I plan to 3D machine the transfer out of solid 6061 aluminum, then grind into it just like you did. The only difference being, I won't be relying on epoxy. I would like to machine it to a finish product but without knowing dims, it's probably best to match by hand as you did. Thank you for the Info.

Incredible job! Anybody getting into mods and a 7310 will want to invest the time to do this! Did you open up the lower transfers or trim the lower cylinder flange to help flow down there? Any thoughts on a piston skirt trim on the intake side for a bit more duration? I’ve found these couple minor mods on the Husky 365 XP really wake them up, so just curious. Thanks! Hope the family is doing better! Really great to see you getting your son to help with the skid loader in some of the other vids! Great dad stuff😎👍

The port lay out in this video will get ya 15% or a bit more. The goal I guess was to get the dyi guys a saw that will outperform a 572xp and a bit better understanding how flow works. The woods port I'm currently shipping has the lowers modified, intake timed a bit more aggressive, combustion chamber modified and extensive carb work. Chamber and carb work I wouldn't recommend to the dyi guys, could get into trouble real quick. Thanks for the kind words. My kids love operating equipment.

Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video! I really appreciate it! I don't have that echo saw, but it seems that more modern sawmakers are putting that "ridge" or whatever you want to call it inside the exhaust port. On my Dolmars/Makitas, there is a sleeve from the muffler, so it kind of makes sense to have that step. But, it looks like the echo muffler is just a hollow can, without a sleeve. So, why are they putting that step in there? Maybe they are tempting amateur porters to go too far on the exhaust timing - heh heh! Or at least making them a little more difficult to mess with. Or did the echo muffler have a sleeve, and you had previously removed it? I saw the little muffler quieting part, with the holes on the bench, so maybe you removed the sleeve too? Anyway, why the factory step in the exhaust port?
@mweba13 жыл бұрын
You know, I immediately thought of the Makita/Dolmart cylinder. Maybe in other countries the have a controlled scavenge muffler? I'll look into it. Thanks for watching.

Very nice Video, thank you for sharing your Knowledge. Very interesting Design of the Transfers. I‘m planing to port my 545 to get closer to the 550. it has 40 thousands of Squish and 104 deg Exausttiming. Trans have 115. I would like to know the squish of a 550xp . I know the Transfercaps are bigger and it has Crankstuffers,but did they also change the Timing and developed a different Cylinder for the 545? Or did the give the 545 a bad Squish ? Have you got Numbers of the 550xp? Cant wait to see your next Video . Get well soon!
@mweba13 жыл бұрын
The cylinders are identical aside from the caps. 40 tho is more than I've ever measured a 545/550. Usually have to cut a small popup running without a gasket for the DIY people. The reason behind low blow down on the xtorq saws is to give the clean air time to clear the combustion chamber before fuel mix arrives. You can destrato the saw or bore the carb venturi to add mix earlier in the cyclee.

@@mweba1 the next Days, i will get a smashed 545 by a Tree and that will be my Portsaw. Payed 100 Bucks for it and it still runs. Lets see what the Squish will be on that one.
