Why do Jews have big noses? Because air is free! ha ha! I don’t even like that joke. But seriously do Jews actually have bigger noses? I’m Pinchas Taylor, and this is Taylor Talks.

Some historians trace the idea of a Jewish large or hooked nose to the 13th century. During that time there was a move toward realism in art and that spurred artists to devise and emphasize visual signs of ethnicity.
The so-called Jewish nose, was already a caricature in the 16th century and by the 18th century it had already become a well-established Jewish trademark. Nazi leader Julius Streicher also boosted the idea of the “Jewish nose” in his propaganda.
A physical anthropologist, and others, have actually done research and shown that the Jewish community statistically doesn’t have any bigger or more hooked noses than their gentile neighbors. At the same, time the stereotype still sits with us today and plenty of people get nose-jobs to better fit in.
Interestingly enough though there are actually spiritual teachings about the nose in Judaism! The Bible teaches that G-d formed man out of the dust of the earth and then blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The sages explain that the nose is the where the soul enters and exits the body. The Hebrew letter “Shin” appears on the bottom of the nostrils, alluding to the divine name “Shin-Dalet-Yud” engraved on every person.
Smell is also considered to be the most spiritual of the 5 senses, with the least physical matter involved. Smell is also said to be the only of the five senses that didn’t participate in the sin of Adam and Eve at the "tree of knowledge," and therefore remains a more spiritual sense.
There's truth to expressions like, "He has a good nose for business," or "Something doesn't smell right." Smell is intangible and it hints to the idea of “good intuition”.
Let’s always remember to use our noses, symbolic of our internal compass and guiding philosophy, to make the right decisions that enhance our overall well-being.

There are Asian Jews, African Jews, Caucasian Jews etc. Not all Jews are Israeli. One of my Jewish friends looks really white and has a normal sized nose

It's a loophole that helps them create their own communities that aren't subject to civil rights laws and are able to dodge accusations of racism. As humans moved to the levant the noses have changed to acclimate to the dry weather of the desert and the coast of the mediterranean sea. People that have flat/no bridge noses come from humid or tropical weather. Its just a genetic mutation like hair or eyes color.

Has anyone read the book, "Mendelssohn is on the Roof" by Jǐrí Weil? Nazi invasion of Prague. They took over one of Prague's most famous buildings which had statues of great composers and musicians on its roof. The Kommandant demanded that SS members go up to the roof and destroy (or throw off the roof) the statue of Mendelssohn. After one look at all the statues, the SS fellows came down again and asked, "How will we know which one is Mendelssohn?" The Kommandant impatiently said, "The one with the biggest nose, of course." I love that story and wish I could tell it the way it is written in the book.

In Islam we pray 5 times a day because it was prescribed to us by Allah when the Prophet Mohammed ascended (PBUH) to the heavens. It was first prescribed to pray 50 times a day by Allah but the Prophet knew this was too many prayers for his people so he begged until it was reduced to only 5 prayers a day. I grew up in rural New England, where there are very few Jews, religious or otherwise. I knew only one family that was Jewish, and they did happen to have big noses, but I didn't think anything of it because they were the only Jews that I knew. When I moved to New York (upstate) as an adult where there is a much much larger Jewish population, and over the years ended up meeting hundreds and having dozens of people with Jewish heritage, and ending up with dozens of my friends (and even girlfriends) being Jewish because that is who is in my area, I still had never heard anyone speak of a Jewish nose. I did however notice that there was a certain percentage of Jews that had a distinctly large and prominent noses. My landlord, my main client, other acquaintances in town, and when I visit New York City, or the orthodox Jewish communities in the Catskill Mountains area and many others. When I heard someone speak of the Jewish nose, I thought of course, that is my experience as well, but now you are saying that it's NOT a thing. I don't know how that is being measured, by average ? Not all my Jewish friends have large noses, some are petite but I would say the distinct kind of large nose is definitely prominent in many of them (especially Ashkenazi Jews from Russian or Ukrainian ancestry). Historically Jews were seme-nomadic and lived all over the world and blended with many different cultures and at least one of them for sure did inherit what I believe to be a kind of Jewish nose, and some of my Jewish friends would agree (true of some Italians too). I have found that Certain stereotypes are true. The one about Jewish being shrewd money managers is definitely also true I would say true of 90% of my Jewish friends. (also true of people of my heritage which is Scottish).

Not necessarily "bigger" noses, but often times it has the typical hooked shape, of course with exceptions as with everything. Ben Shapiro is one example of an exception, as are you Mr. Taylor. Many arabs and even Italians have the same features. Best wishes from Scandinavia

Regarding what you said on the Quran is nothing but a human formulation of what came in the books of the ancients: the Jews and the Christians. This suspicion was said by the Jews in Medina . A lot of Jews do have bigger noses. This is a genetic trait in men who are from Haplogroup J. This Haplogroup accounts for the majority of Jews & also Arabs. Despite all the religious conflicts between them the two peoples are genetically very similar. It is thought the larger nose evolved because of the hot dry desert climate in the region & the nose itself protects the user from sand & the dry air.

I saw your video on Islam, you shared the similarities and claim that we took all of it from Judiasm, let me tell you the difference now, the difference is you didnt believe Jesus was Prophet, Quran tells exactly how Jesus was born, even how Yahya (john the baptist) was born and Mariam (Marry) was born with all the details. Also Islam was not founded it is the same religion which is been going on since Adam to Noah to Mosses to Muhammad PBUH, it is mention in Quran many times that Quran authenticates previous sriptures send by GOD but u didnt respect those covenant and killed many Prophets were sent to you like Zakria and John.

In your video “ a Jewish look at Islam” on the minute 20 you claimed that Muslims claim Jewish took stories about profits, creation, flood , heaven etc. from Islam religion. This is false statement from you ! You did not prove that by for example quotation from a genuine Islamic source ! As a matter of fact, Islam has similarities with Jewish religion because they both originally inspired by the only and one god Allah. So a lot of beliefs in Islam are common with Jewish especially when it comes to profits, creation and the judgement day. We Muslims believe and know that your religion is from god and we have never said Jews took their stories related to faith from Islam! Yet we believe Jewish historically has hidden or deleted big number of their original holy book versus and changed some others as to fit their own desires. This is why Jewish declined Jesus Piece be upon him and Muhammed peace be upon him. This is what The Quran told us and it also told us that historically Jewish had killed many of their profits because they did not like what they told them not to do (for the Jewish good). I urge you to correct what you said about Muslims. I also urge you to judge Islam based on careful reading for the Quran and the Islamic genuine references rather than reading about Islam from a Jewish philosophers as this method is not scientific and not fair in my opinion.
