We sold him to Wolfsburg after loaning him to Bremen… He couldn’t get in the team at the time over Hazard, Pedro, and at the time Oscar was in fantastic form. You can’t have every star player, and at the time he wasn’t a star and couldn’t sniff the pitch over those 3

Here's the truth, most Man City fans were shocked when they heard that Palmer was leaving, myself included. We thought this was gonna be a breakout year for him for us. Now do fans regret it? Not really, not because Palmer isn't good, he's top! But we don't regret it because with or without him we're doing well, we're league leaders and still can win another treble, so what's there to regret? If Palmer was sold to Liverpool or Arsenal and was scoring all those goals to help them win the league, we'd 100% regret it! But the fact that he's at Chelsea who are absolutely zero threat to us, we don't care if he scores 100 goals to be honest! In the future though, should Chelsea be good and compete for the league again and Palmer helps them beat us to it, the answer will be "yes we probably regret it" but as of now the answer is a resounding NO, atleast for me and a lot of City fans I've spoken to share the same sentiment.

for some talking trash on foden lol, if your logic is only goals you don't know football, foden has more accuracy than palmer and his advantage and maturity when it comes to technicality and moving the ball around is far more impressive than palmers, if you're talking about goals and you say 10 from penalties and 10 from tap ins are you really using that as leverage to your argument lmao, yes he has more goals but the quality of fodens strikes inside mostly outside the box even are more reliable and his quality proves it, even with foden having a higher shot per goal and shots on target, foden is far more impressive chance creating, assists and passing, this is the kind of work rate world class players have

I guess its worked out well for all 3 parties involved. Cole got a club where he gets sufficient playing time and is the star man at the club. City got good money for an academy graduate. Chelsea got a player that is keeping their hopes of a top half finish alive.

I think selling him was more a financial issue rather than a personal one. They dont need to be on the radar of FFP yet again.

I heard some of my mates going on about him being better than Doku. I must admit I thought it quite absurd at the time but I’ve come around to he just may well be.

People are forgetting.....Pep has mentioned it several times that if a player wants to leave, he's free to do so. Pep success is based on his principles. As long as Pep is with City, City will remain the best football team. Peo believes in player's royalt to the club and his tactics. If you are not abiding to this requirement, you can't be part of Pep's team. It's as simple as that. Every season since Pep joined City, some good players have been leaving City and yet City have been consistent with it's performance

And other excellent teams will become better than City. Even Pep's Barcelona was dethroned by Madrid and Chelsea. It's a cycle.

Maybe not now, but I feel like that might change in a few years, but not a big massive regret way. Despite Foden really stepping up, I feel like Man City are missing some of the key players who left (which they wanted to leave) Gundogan and Mahrez and I feel like Palmer would have been a great replacement on the right wing for Mahrez. And with Bernardo approaching 30 and KDB over 30, maybe in a few years they might look at Palmer be like 'Wish we would have kept him', but honestly, with their money, they could just buy their replacement without too much fuss. So a tinge of regret considering he came through the ranks and is homegrown, but not really a huge set back

Man City has so much talent and they can only field 11 players at a go. With limited minutes he might not have reached the level of recognition he has now or been given enough opportunities to demonstrate his quality so he's made the right decision moving to Chelsea where his talent is more apparent relative to his teammates.

Chelsea fan here. I don't think City should regret letting him go, same way Chelsea should not regret letting players like Salah and De Bruyne leave the club. Had these players not left, they wouldn't have developed into what they are now. These players HAD to leave.

A player's success is path dependant. If Chelsea does have other fast running and holding players maybe Palmer would not score those goals as he scores them.

No; palmer is having to get all the goals for Chelsea. At City, lots of players contribute to the goals. Also, he wasn't getting any playing time at city as Foden plays a similar position

Palmer wasn't gonna get on City's first squad, so I do regret his sales 1 bit. His finishing wasn't as great as well, maybe he is better now, but the judgement is about the rationale behind his sale, which made sense to me. What we needed was a full back but somehow we never got one.

I dont think soo.. palmer excells in a system that allows him to be free. Hes a very free spirited player. Pep guardiola is well known for his positional play style approach which doesn't get the best out of palmer or players like grealish. Hed be a very good player at city but palmer will shine under poch more or another manager who gives him freedom
