So hilarious when that guy wanted to steal the camera. One thing I always noticed was the bearings built for skateboards, typically with a rubber shield, always seemed to roll longer & have less drag than the pressed metal abec style bearings, however I never really seen anyone pop one of the metal shields or both & put a rubber shield on it and purge the old lube, lube it with something better & also break them in as well. I know my REDs were mostly substantially better aside one or two of them that rusted than when I bought them. I think there is something to keeping one shield open so that debris can fly out of the bearing, also you can do a quick clean of them that way, maybe not a complete clean. Repeated cleanings as they break in really seems to make them do well & never getting them wet as well.

I think you are right, you need access so you can clean. A good clean can make them feel like new again.

I’ve personally never noticed the tolerance difference on bearings on aggressive skates. The main factor for me tends to be how quick they are after some of the grease breaks down after use, there’s almost a peak point before they need servicing where they’re at their fastest. One main change for me was when I picked up the Loco Go Project Crown bearings, these seemed to reduce any chance of the bearing and bearing spacers interfering with each other and have in my experience (subjective of course!) been the best experience I’ve had with bearings on my aggro skates. Good in depth video btw 👍

When I used to skateboard, I used Zippo fluid to clean my bearings and then a drop of 3in1 oil. Speed Demon Clear Shields were our choice in the 90’s.

Another amazing video Joe! I love the depth you go into about the technical terms of the bearings. Even comparing the Zee zee to the zed zed! I also watched the “Cheap Skates” episode, good work on re-hashing the parts from that video! I was surprised to see the difference in the performance on the hill bomb. I’m finding this content really informative!! Thanks again for another great video! Please keep it up!

ABEC9 and 125mm wheels... I felt like a bowling ball when going down hill with my fellow skaters being the pins. Acceleration was much faster, speed as well. Scary!

The fastest bearings for speed skating on 84+ wheels for cheap are a worn out and dried out ones, without friction of grease or oil at all 😉✌️ But they are prone to wear too easy, so a drop of speed oil never a bad idea and prolong their lifetime greatly👍

There are a few bearings that claim to be either skate rated and not abec rated Bones of course says theyre skate rated. But oust has the moc series of bearing that says they are made specifically for skating, like their moc 5, 7, and 9 Then theres the quantum bearings that claim tgey have the fastest bearings Theres qube that makes the qube 8 that has 8 ball bearings instead of 7 which they say adds more stability and faster acceleration with better speed And theres bones with the super 6 ball bearings which claim they have bigger ball bearings for more top speed and one less ball fir reduced or similar acceleration as a 7 ball bearing uhh bearing So do rush and hard luck brand bearings Also reflex used to have an 8 ball bearing for Rob Dyrdek Anyway if it were at all possible to test any of these out for their clams and see what speeds you get on them would be freaking cool
@JoeStuartAU
@JoeStuartAU Жыл бұрын
Wow, that’s a lot of bearings. The qube 8 sounds interesting and would be good for aggressive inline skating. I will have to visit a second version of this video when I get a bearing company on board to supply some bearings to test!

When you first put the new Abec 9s in, did they spin freely on there own or did they need breaking in? Ive recently purchased new abec bearings, 11, and they dont spin freely, is this because they need breaking in? Cheers
