I have never killed an animal but I have watched my husband every year we butcher our chickens. It is nearly impossible to cause no suffering. That is a part of it. I always believed it was necessary so we didn’t take more than what we need. Unlike mass production where they butcher more than what will be used we butcher what we know we will eat. No unnecessary suffering is what I live by.

I'm glad you mentioned this! I made a rather lengthy post regarding these Commands before I read yours, to point out that eating meant butchered in an abattoir, where the blood is collected and used for black pudding and all sorts of things, is not slaughtered according to the Torah (see Deu 12:16,24: 15:23 for three witnesses) and thus unfit for consumption. The life is in the blood.
@SepticFuddy2 жыл бұрын
@@2besavedcom-7 I submit to you that the commandment to pour the blood and cover it is aimed at the slaughterer/butcher. The commandment not to eat blood, on the other hand, is for all. So long as that blood is being removed, even for such unbiblical purposes, the meat that blood was removed from is still fit for consumption. “You must also know that there are ordinances applying to one man only, such as a king or priest; others apply to a certain group, such as the priests or the Levites; still others apply to single individuals, such as the nazirite or the leprous person. There are ordinances applying exclusively to men or to women, to all the individuals of the particular sex. In the case of particular things the pertinent ordinance may apply only at a certain time, as with the redemption of first-born sons and the tithe; others apply only at a certain place, e.g., in Palestine or in a far-away place; some apply only on certain days, some in the daytime, others at night; some once a week, some once a month, some once a year, some once in seven years, some once in fifty years.“ - Elijah Basyatchi, Aderet Eliyahu, I. Fundamentals of Law If you slaughter animals yourself, then do be sure to pour and cover. If not, just make sure what you eat does not have blood.

@@SepticFuddy I but the real question is this ! Can we use blood meal in gardening? we could call it Torah observant blood remediation ground replacement blah blah …. I was required to use it at my workplace over the summer and it for me thinking. Half joking but still serious, Thoughts ? Best, Daniel
@2besavedcom-72 жыл бұрын
@@SepticFuddy - I agree that this is most definitely applied to the one who slaughters as this is the only one who would be in the position to fulfill this Command. It does not only apply to the Levitical priesthood because the one Text that describes "covering the blood" specifies "hunting:" Lev 17:13 “And any man from the children of Yisra’ěl, or from the strangers who sojourn among you, who hunts and catches any beast or bird, which is eaten, shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust." The priests did not go out hunting, yet were responsible for the general slaughter and offering of a herd/flock beast.

My mom was taught as a child to grab the chicken by the head twirl it around 3 times and flick it which would snap the head off in her hand and the headless chicken would run around in circles and all the blood squirted out of its neck as it ran. As city kids we thought this was so VERY cruel . My grandad described this procedure exactly the same way. 💔 Farm people are tough. 😂

That's exactly the way we did it when I was a kid. But I noticed that we would get broken wings and bruised meat because the chicken would just flop around everywhere, into boards and into rocks. I'm 54 and now I made a big funnel out of aluminum and I just stick the chicken down in it and its head comes out the other end, and I put a bucket under the funnel to catch the blood and to throw the heads in when I cut them off. I've never had bruised meat yet. And I don't have to go after the chicken, 😂

Misconception: Although the giraffe is a kosher animal, it is not slaughtered because it is not known where on the neck to perform the shechitah (ritual slaughter). Fact: The makom shechitah (region of the neck in which ritual slaughter is valid) on a giraffe is precisely defined by halachah, just as it is for all animals, and the only impediments to shechting giraffe are cost and practical considerations. Zach, brother, While I generally enjoy your videos, and I agree with almost everything you said in this one, you made a statement regarding the Torah and the slaughter of an animal and asked for a Text. There is one Command for slaughtering an animal that is often completely overlooked and the reason why my family NEVER purchase meat slaughtered in an abattoir: “Only, the blood you do not eat, pour it on the earth like water." ( Deu 12:16) “Do not eat it [the blood], you pour it on the earth like water." (Deu 12:24) “Only, do not eat its blood, pour it on the ground like water." (Deu 15:23) The LIFE is in the blood, and spilling the blood onto the earth is an important Command in the Torah rather than collecting it for black pudding or fertilizer (although that eventually does go to the ground) Leviticus gets a little more specific and Commands one extra step: “And any man from the children of Yisra’ěl, or from the strangers who sojourn among you, who hunts and catches any beast or bird, which is eaten, shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust." (Lev 17:13) It would be fair to mention these specific Commands to those who think to waltz down to the butcher, not having even witnessed the blood, and purchase their meat that was not slaughtered according to Torah, while still trying to maintain a clear conscience...

People have absolutely no idea the effort and sacrifice it takes to be a shepherd. No creature on this earth can get into more trouble and has less of a will to live than black faced sheep. Keep 100 black faced sheep alive in the mountains surrounded by bears, wolves, and mountain lions and you have some understanding what you’re getting yourself into when you want to “shepherd a flock” of believers.

Yes the Rhino has horns, but they are on his snout. I'm obviously not adding to the Torah, I just thought it interesting. You see so many times in the bible where its describing a horn as a symbol of power, maybe a possible connection there?

Great video. So as a former trapper who killed many animals with snares, I will make a correction to your statement that the Bible says nothing about how the animal is to be killed. It is not to be strangled or torn by wild beasts. Yes, a snare will kill a deer. No, it is not to be eaten if it dies in the snare. I have cut many a beautiful wonderful backstrap out of fresh road killed deer. I don’t do that any more because I am uncertain about the “torn by wild beast” clause, and because they may not openly bleed. If you can give me clarity on this issue, it is welcomed!!

Gen 27:3 Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; Gen 27:4 And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. As you said you can't shoot an animal with a bow or a gun without it suffering in some form. Shalom.

In addition to the Text you have quoted, the Torah gives specific Instructions for slaughter when you do hunt: "And any man from the children of Yisra’ěl, or from the strangers who sojourn among you, who HUNTS and catches any beast or bird, which is eaten, shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust." (Lev 17:13)

@@michaelgriffis5259 not true. How did Abraham and the sons of Israel know how to keep the commandments of YAH? How did Abel, Cain and Noah know the sacrifices? The Torah was given well before Horeb. It was passed on from father to son for generations before. It was codified, or called to remembrance, to the chosen people that had just come out of bondage as well as the mixed multitude that exited with them that didn't know.

@@travischilders1 why were they allowed to offer sacrifice’s anywhere. After Torah it became restricted. Show me a verse that says the whole Torah was given before Moses. Even today people keep part ofTorah (adultery, murder, stealing) who have never heard of Torah.

Excellent Zac. More people need to understand, not everyone is meant to be a slaughterer. But healthy people eat meat, and kosher killing is a learned skill. These boofheads that know it all need to get the logs out of their own eyes first. Shalom.

And the biggest point of this is that we would be reminded of Yah's love and mercy for allowing us to live while we continue to break his instructions and covenant. So next time you eat a. Ice gourmet meal that has any meat remember that that animal died so that you could live which is a type and shadow of our Mesiah who died for us so that we may have the opportunity to live and perhaps live eternally in communion with the Father our Creator.

I guess the question that crosses my mind is will there be animals after the resurrection ? and that will be in the millennial reign ? because I know the scripture talks about a child can stick his hand in a adders hole and not get bit, and that a wolf or lion can lye down in the street with a lamb ?

You stuck your neck out on this one! 😆 Just kidding, always great. I only have experience at one slaughterhouse, they put a retracting punch in the cows’ forehead and it was done, instantly. However, the cows in line were very anxious, likely knowing what was happening. PS - one detail about her letter - if it’s permitted to eat (clean), it’s food; if it’s not permitted (unclean), it’s not food. “Permitted food” is redundant and misleading. Suggesting animals don’t suffer, implies Messiah did not suffer. THIS IS TRUE SACRIFICE! Take the life of an animal that you have raised from birth and that responds to you, and you feel the pain of that sacrifice. In today’s society, we are far removed from having any idea of the pain of that sacrifice.

Thank you very much for this. As New to Torah and hunters and homesteaders we have wondered about this topic. I have another question too. We live in Alaska and have a road kill list. If someone hits a moose they call the # and then the next person on the list is called to harvest it. If you can't come immediately they call the next person. Is it permissible for us to be on this list? I've considered the rule against eating carcasses as different from this. Any thoughts, insight, Torah family? Thank you!

Leviticus 22:8 speaks of not eating things that die of themselves or are torn by another animal and then dies. I don’t think this would apply to a moose freshly hit by a vehicle. The intention behind the scripture is to avoid disease. My opinion: stay on the list

I've had T.O. people refuse to buy sheep from me because I didn't butcher with just a slice to the throat. I have always, even before we were T.O., put a bullet in the ear or back of the head, before we slit the neck. The said "bullet" was, in their opinion, not Torah. I have done it that way and, like you said, it's brutal. Almost more violent. My animals go out with a bucket of grain in their face. The blood is drained right after. Their adrenaline is low and they are calm. How is that wrong? 🤔 Hunted meat, to them, was also a big NO. They never gave me scriptures to their beliefs when told them I don't butcher like that, so I just sold the ram elsewhere. Too bad for them, I heard he was an excellent tasting guy.

We are to be over the animals of the earth,and as far as suffering is concerned... Jesus suffered on the cross for several hours. That being said you’re absolutely correct, with sin came death.

As rancher daughter I'm laughing my you know about Bull . At a Slaughterhouse they shoot the animal in the head Special bullet that's steel Special bullet that's steel.
@TGuard000142 жыл бұрын
Most places use a captive bolt gun that doesn’t have a “bullet” because a bullet is a projectile that leaves the gun and the bolt is a permanent part of the gun that never fully leaves the gun and retracts back into it. It’s a long rod the front of which penetrates the skull but the back side never leaves the gun and then the entire rod recoils back into the gun. So it’s not a “steel bullet”. Some of the bolt guns like those made for mobile use are powered by blank cartridges that provide the concussive force but in large facilities they are generally pneumatic and hooked up to a large air source. Different calibers provide different levels of concussive force for those guns that aren’t pneumatic. But it’s not accurate to say they shoot a steel bullet.

Forget using a Japanese blade on that bull, just use your Japanese Arisaka rifle on it, if you have any 7.7mm ammo to feed it.
