Suggestion, perhaps as a video for the day of the 30th anniversary release, we could get a video opening with old booster boxes for an equivalent value? As it's clear most fans want to see the old magic over the 30th edition scam anyways, and it's a good way to show what you could get instead. I'm sure there's many good old sets that could be combined to get to roughly that pricepoint.

I think something financial collectors should keep in mind is that the health of the product they’ve invested in is directly connected to the health of the game as a whole. Decisions like these may lead to short term gains and windfall tendies, but if they end up killing the game long term then over time demand for product falls, interest for every format falls, proxying becomes more and more accepted and the status of being a collector goes down too. That will drive down the value of everything, power nine included. Do not forget that when you make your decision

I too had a similar thought right away that this was a test product. My guess is that if this does well, next year they will do Arabian Nights, with Antiquities and Legends in the years after all the way down until they hit Urza's block....where the reserve list ends. Two things: Rudy has disclosed many times that he’s invested heavily in reserve list cards. He has a significant financial stake in seeing 30th anniversary fail. That being said. He’s still right, 30th is the worst thing we’ve ever seen come out of WotC, and it should be burned with fire. For my part, I don’t own a single reserve card. There are no winners here. If they made these exact same packs, printed them to demand, and sold them for the price of a normal booster, so everyone could experience alpha draft with proxy cards then I’d be singing a different song, I’d support it, but what we have here is the worst of all worlds.

If they were at $3 a pack, probably the real alphas/reserve would drop in price, as everyone could at least have the proxies "for free", so demand of real cards would be less. Let me preface this by saying that I know very little about MTG. I’ve played a game or two with friends, and I know of the Black Lotus. When I saw that card on the set for the anniversary, my interest was piqued and I can say I had never considered getting into MTG before then. And then I saw the price, and now I’m seeing all of this news and fallout. This is so crazy to me, and I hope that there’s a happy ending at all of this. At the minute there’s no chance, but one day I’d love to be able to join this community and begin enjoying what I’ve missed out on for years. I’ve never seen such a show of solidarity for a product/franchise before and it’s honestly inspiring.

Thank you for making these videos! People, please don't buy the box. Video content/views should not be the reason to buy a ridiculous product, but I'm sure some content creators will say it's for their livelihood. Personally, I will unsubscribe and block every channel that buys it and puts it on KZbin. Someone needs to take a stand with wizards and their greed.

The profit margin certainly is massive - they don't even need to commission new art - but it did cost them a lot of goodwill. If making a thousand dollars profit today costs them two thousand dollars of profit tomorrow because of people quitting or buying proxies, that's not a good trade.

I'll be honest, watching your videos the past few days I kind of rolled my eyes thinking "he's still going to buy whatever WotC prints anyway, so the complaints are ultimately meaningless..." It wasn't a knock on you, just expected to see the inevitable piles of boxes & pack opening videos, which will spurn more interest & confirm to Wizards they can do no wrong. This video actually gives me my first real sense of hope in....well in forever! I've never thought any of the complaining videos from the community would amount to much unless that same community ever stopped engaging. I stopped a couple years ago, but I'm nobody. Glad you're taking a stand. Hopefully this will inspire others to do the same.

Perhaps Wizards short term strategy is to maximize revenue in the short term through mass production and equity liquidation (Secret Lairs) with the long term aim of moving the player base to a digital platform (higher margins). The survey design wizards is conducting on their website seems to tip their hand this was the play.

Magic is really fun as a game. I got out of magic years ago when I bought a ton into modern, brewed eldrazi decks, and all of a sudden all of my decks doubled to tripled in price. I just remember thinking, why on earth would I carry around fifteen hundred dollar decks? Hasbro should consider having security with their truck drivers for this new set when a box is worth almost two cases.
