Adidas have actually mentioned this to big retailers in product training calls, when telling us about Predator Accuracy and changes to the Adidas X. The change comes from feedback from professionals saying it wasn’t as comfortable, so they just changed from the carbitex. Still just as light tho

I love Adidas, but when i saw pictures of the whiteout (which was white in the sole) i thought it was a fake colorway because the soleplate was missing the carbitex insert I am a leather boot guy, so was not interested in these, but i do have prototype Ghosteds and have to say, the boots only saving grace is that carbon fiber plate. Adidas needs to come out with a press release on this matter

I stand by that it's the best soleplate of all time. Didn't particularly enjoy how uncomfortable the upper was but man the soleplate made me feel absolutely rapid.

It's honestly always been strange to me that adidas contracted Carbitex to make the carbon soleplates when they make a perfectly good (great even, according to some reviewers) carbon soleplate for their top-end marathon racing shoes. I imagine the 2 plates probably would have different designs/engineering, but I mean, come on adidas....

Although it is crazy that Adidas is doing this, the product description of the new colours does sort of indicate the lack of the Carbitex inserts. In the description of the older colours, it mentions the Carbitex insert, however, in the new colours it doesn't. So Adidas isn't as much lying or tricking consumers about this but instead not informing them about the removal. I just want to make myself clear: I still think this is crazy and shameful for Adidas and I am not supporting this, just thought it would be important to mention this.

Of course! They’re not hiding the change. It’s clear to see in product images, but not a actively making an attempt to let consumers know that they’ve taken away one of the boot’s flagship technologies is shady. It’s effectively a downgrade that many will unknowingly purchase. They’re not hiding the change, but they’re certainly not making an effort to inform people of it.

Hot take: Adidas carbon fiber sole looked like fake carbon fiber when i checked it out in person, the CF had wrinkles too if that even means anything. Definitely didn't compare to the carbon fiber sole i saw on the mercurial superfly 4's, which had fantastic carbon soles (that didn't last long). P.S. superfly 4's imo are better than the superfly 9's.

The wrinkles appear to be a manufacturing defect on all copies, but it is genuine carbon fiber, if u ever deltoid with carbon is cars, or other items, they are identical. Also the nike carbon fiber had a different checkered weave, while the adidas is the more common carbon weave.

Carbon Fiber is supposed to be better for energy return. It isn't just stiffer. The marketing on it was that its light stiff and the spring back is better. Other companies have tried to incorporate carbon fiber into the sole plate. It is expensive and they weren't very durable. I snapped my old superflys that had a carbon fiber sole plate. So if it costs more and is less durable its a double loss for the company. So yeah...long story short this is kind of messed up by adidas. Especially to not at least drop the price by a small amount.

The carbon fiber plates made my feet sore for weeks on end. Never putting those on my feet again. It could have been the cut of the boot, but I really don't think any boot should be that stiff at the bottom like that. Even the new copa pures were a little stiff out of box but those wore down and are extremely flexible from the sole plate being a normal plastic, which I prefer. I get the idea of carbon fiber acting as a spring but you should leave that job to your calves and sprinting technique. The perfect boot should match your foot shape as close as possible and allow your feet to live up to their full potential. Toes should be able to spread/ rest evenly and not be crunched so you can have full power in sprinting (yes a boot should be a tad snug but if your toes cant rest like they do on flat ground then you are going to be damaging your foot potentially). I think that's what Adidas was trying to get at with this boot. The toe box is massive and I was on my toes 24/7, especially due to the raised nature of the front of the boot. While they are nice to sprint in, just walking and jogging across the field grew uncomfortable and the soreness would just not stop. If this boot had a little more flex and fit my foot shape better then I'd totally continue to rock them. I love the material and the touch on them is absolutely absurd, but I just cant do it with the current model. Had to go for the copa pures and I love them!

The plates have always been carbon. The top layer, like many carbon products, is effectively just a cosmetic layer to show a perfect carbon weave. The quality of that finishing clearly got worse with the Speedportal, but again, the actual plate is actually carbon.

hey , what does your statement "true to size" means? Does it means that the fit of that articular 10.5 cleat will be like a typical 10.5 cleat or does it mean that it would also be like a 10.5 sneaker? This is my first buying according to us sizes and before that i was wearing sneaker in india with size 9 which is according to UK size but when i came to canada i saw that us sizes differ. It means that you should get your usual size. Saying that a shoe fits “true to size” means that if you wear size 10 in other shoes, you should also buy that shoe in size 10. US and UK shoe sizes are different, so you gotta compare your country's size system vs. US or UK, depending on where are you buying the shoe.

Carbitex is not some kind of magic, it’s a flexible composite material. These plates are not that ugly that adidas must use something to cover them.

A sole plate is a sole plate is a sole plate … And the one on the top end model is still better than the one on the takedowns, just like with any other silo that does not use carbon in 2023. The Speedportal did not cost 300 dollars because of the Carbitex insert.

When you buy a top end model, you expect to receive the best of what that company has to offer at the time and what they’re advertising. Adidas has advertised the speedportal for its upper and carbon plated soleplate for speed and responsiveness. Them randomly switching things up and not really making customers aware is shady and sneaky. A company doesn’t have to pass on its cost cutting decisions on to its customers, but they should make them aware of the change. That’s just normal business practice.
