Some advice from me: 1. If you get advice from youtube, I recommend smaller channels that test methods themselves and give you the science. 2. I'd also recommend using brands which are natural, and are completely open in telling you what ingredients are in them. 3. All hair is different! Don't assume that your hair fits perfectly into these categories. Find what works for you and stick with it.

Supposedly if you have cold water for the last few seconds of your shower, it closes pores/follicles which were opened up wide in the hot water. I don't really know the science behind it. If you wash your hair every day/every other day, your sculp will become oilier quicker because the skin doesn't know how to regulate. When you strip the natural oils everyday, the skin just pumps out more as quickly as it can.

How to grow long hair: Understand it’s not something that happens over night, or over a period of 1-2 months. It’s takes time and effort. Patience is key! Hair growth can depend on genetics. - Avoid heat - Wash less frequently ( 1x a week) - Avoid harsh shampoo and conditioners filled with silicones and harsh chemicals. - invest in a wooden bristle brush, and boar bristle brush. I personally enjoy detangling brushes and boar bristle brushes. - Use scrunchies instead of normal hair elastics. (Satin and Silk is best) - Braid your hair at night (if you can) to protect it from breakage. - Oil your ends regularly for moisture, and oil you scalp 30-45 minutes before you bathe. - Brush your hair often. As if it were spun from gold. - Massage your scalp before and during washing. And above all, once again, BE PATIENT. Just take care of your hair. It will grow however quickly and long it will grow. It takes YEARS for most people to get her length in the video.

I agree with everything except the frequent brushing. I personally try to brush/comb my hair as little as possible and it works better for me. Brushing it often makes my hair (I have a lot but very fine hair)get greasier soo much faster. It makes my hair frizzy... Brushing can also lead to breaking. I therefore try to minimize the need for brushing/combing.

I've learned a few tips from other people, and here are the ones I feel work the best: 1. Go as long as you can without washing your hair, try to only wash you hair once a week, because showering strips your hair of the natural oils, and the oils on your hair is what helps it grow 2. Everyday for 4 minutes, turn your head upside down, and just massage your scalp. This will push the blood to your head, and will push the oils to your hair, helping it to grow faster. 3. Stay away from heat products. If you normally after your shower use a blow dryer, try not to as much. After your shower, let your hair air dry. The heat can sometimes kill your hair. There's this challenge like the 7 day vegan challenge, but it's 30 day heat challenge (I forget the real name) But you have to stay away from heat products for your hair (Curling irons, Straighteners, etc.) and it should help speed up the process. 4. Do not brush your hair after your shower, it is very damaging, and it stretches out your hair and just is so bad, brush your hair before you get in the shower, so it's not tangled when you're done.

Rinsing hair with cold water closes the cuticle and leaves hair smoother. Same with washing face. Start with hot water to open pores, wash/exfoliate, rinse with warm water to clear soap out of pores, rinse with cold water to close pores, moisturize.

If you think they gave bad advice in that video, you should see their 7 tips to change your eye color. (I didn’t wanna change my eye color, I love my eyes the way they are, but I saw the thumbnail and I was curious about what they would say). Also, whoever just read this comment, do not go and try to change your eye color. You guys have beautiful eyes no matter the color. Green, blue, brown, black, hazel, grey. I read the comments in that video and a lot of people said that they were there because they have dark brown eyes. You guys are all so beautiful and do not be ashamed of your eye color, or anything else about yourself.

For people with breakage prone hair trying to grow it longer: 1. Use a thin layer of oil (like coconut oil) over the length and ends of your hair before you take a shower to prevent hygral fatigue. 2. Wash your hair as often as you need to, depending on how oily or dry your scalp is, but be GENTLE. Like you're massaging a baby. Never rough up your hair while shampooing, conditioning, or drying, don't brush hair when wet (finger detangle or use an extra wide tooth comb), and scrunch to dry. Always always always use a delicate touch. 3. Don't pull your hair tight when putting it in a braid, ponytail, or bun. Loose is your friend and smooth/satin hair ties are ideal because they don't pull and snap the hair strands. 4. *Always* rinse the chlorine out of your hair after swimming. 5. Don't bleach your hair or frequently use heat tools. No-heat curls are a great option for hair styling that doesn't involve a blow drier or curling wand but still gives your hair a uniform shape. Loose side braids and messy buns can be really cute too! 6. *Circulation* is key! Whether you a.) do gentle scalp massages while your hair is lubricated with conditioner, b.) the inversion method of flipping your head upside down for a couple of minutes a day, or c.) just do regular cardio- the name of the game is good blood flow to the scalp so growth hormones and nutrients you eat can do their job.

I do remember being told about how you should either wash your hair with cold water, or rise with cold water before you get out. I forget why, though. I think it'd have something to do with the pores, just like you should always apply heat if you want to pop a pimple (but you shouldn't, because that can make your skin worse), because the pores are bigger and it's easier to come out. Oooh, that's really interesting. My family would always tell me to bow-dry my hair so I wouldn't get sick from the wetness, but I didn't have the patience, so I'd always air-dry it. Thanks for saying that tip, I'ma keep air-drying it! Wait, you wash your hair once a week, too?! I felt like I was the only one, yay! Also, my hair actually does become oily in the evening 😳

Also shampoo applied directly to the top of the hair is believed to cause balding with age. Sometimes I heard people say it clogs pores if not removed thoroughly. I wash my scalp twice usually. And I don’t apply shampoo directly to the top of my head. I lather it in my hands and apply it throughout my scalp. I also do not apply the shampoo to my hair but I apply it only to my scalp. I let the shampoo rinse through my hair after being applied to my scalp.

I had a lot of trouble getting my hair to grow fast .. but I heard somewhere that Argan oil was really good .. so I tested it .. Both shampoo and conditioner with argan oil and finally an oil in the end that I massaged of scalp, pure argan oil of course .. and my hair has never grown so fast before. It worked very well on me. I did this to see in like 3 months, when I washed the hair with shampooing and really massage it in: I used cold water, not ice cold but u get me.. I did not wrap my hair in a towel when I was done washing it, because it is a damage to the hair. washed the hair once to twice a week. I also brushed it with a comb before I did go to sleep and I braid my hair, loooose! Important :) I also have silk pillowcases (it helps). Now my growth is 7 centimeters, I have bleached hair so my growth is quite long now. I have avoided heat on my hair, I used a comb to brush through my hair with .. from below and up. This helped me :D

I actually heard there was a scientific study done that air drying is actually worse than blow drying your hair. I just recently found this out but I’ve been air drying my hair for years so idk if I’ll make the switch. If you do a video on it and talk about it I might though hahaha

Cold water actually helps to close the hair follicles. If you leave them open your hair will be more prone to getting dust and dirt in it.

Hey... I enjoy your videos. I also enjoy bright side videos, they are very informative. I believe bright side videos show the way to care for your hair well. I believe you know how to take care of your hair in a natural way, but many people have lost those techniques. Many people wash their hair too often or too little, Many people use the wrong products, many people use the wrong tools on their hair, and many people use the wrong methods for Hair growth. I believe it is because many people go to salons and get hair color, get hair straightened or chemically altered, or are unfamiliar with how to take care of their hair the way you may care for your hair. For example: my mom took care of my hair until I was the age of 13. My hair was to my waist because she took care of it in a natural way. But when I was 13 I decided to straighten my hair and I was very young. I did not use the techniques that she did. Because I took advice from people at salons who did chemical/color altering methods. And the people at the salons had short hair. Because I was young and because I no longer had natural hair I lost a lot of techniques that my mom used. I decided to straighten my hair and I washed my hair often because I exercised often. I used products from the store that were recommended by the cosmetologist. I used straightening tools and blow dryers often, to maintain a straight look. And I always wondered how come my hair didn’t grow. I saw some people with long straight hair and assumed that they kept their hair straight. But that was only an assumption because most people with long hair only straighten their hair occasionally. So occasionally that they only straighten their hair once a year or a few times a year. Unfortunately not everyone knows the things that you know about hair care. And unfortunately not everyone does what you do for hair care. I also believe people know how to do the same hair techniques that you use, but they believe the techniques taught at salons work sometimes if done right. But from my experience most salons teach people how to do their hair in order to maintain short hair. And I believe that most salons are able to take care of hair very well, but are not aimed toward doing things in a natural way. Long story short, a lot of people are facing challenges with hair care and I believe your videos are helpful and also bright side. But videos that are very detailed such as the Bright side videos are important because the hair industry is full of myths and misinformation.

I have oily hair and I wash it every 4 days. If I shower in the morning by the end of day one it is beginning to look oily. I noticed a difference when I started washing my hair with cool water. Not cold but not hot.

How do you manage to stay 4 days without washing your hair? Mine is so oily so on the second day it's just so greasy and my hair is thin so if I wear it out it looks awful and end up washing

Actually brushing hair before washing is good for our hair because it prevents breakage while shampooing , tangled hair are more prone to breakage while washing hair.

Here’s some tips if you don’t wanna watch the vid, these worked for me ❌ DONT USE RICE WATER! ✅ Instead, eat a lot of white rice! I did this and I noticed my hair got thicker and longer! ❌DONT SHAMPOO THE ENDS! ✅ You should shampoo the scalp! If you shampoo the ends, all it does is make it soft ❌DONT WASH YOUR HAIR EVERYDAY! ✅Instead, try to wash your hair twice a week. Washing your hair everyday strips your hair of natural oils

I think that the advice about washing the hair with warm and then cold water after conditioning it actually means to rinse your hair with warm (not hot, just warm) water after shampoo and then with cold water after conditioner, something I recently heard about. At least that is what I hope... Otherwise it makes no sense for me.

Hi, as somebody who got pixie cut (and hate it, I really don't feel as myself), I am for like a week scrolling on YT, trying to find something that will help grow my hair fast. I am so desperate that I am thinking about buying a hair extensions 🥲 But, some tips from yt were quite helpful. I dye my hair with henna cuz my hair are in better quality. 1. Using oil. I have argan oil and EVERY evening I am massaging my scalp for few minutes with that. Actually works. 2. Shampoo and conditioner. As someone who never did haircare, this is hella important. 3. Not much brushing my hair 4. Finally, I stopped to use dryer and curling iron. So from my latest dying its like two/three weeks and my hair grew about 1 and half inches 😁

I rarely blow dry my hair. But in the times when I do, is usually in the winter when I ether take a shower before I go to bed and I don't want to be cold. Or, when I take a shower before I go out somewhere when I know it will be cold. Or, when I go camping (where there's showers and electricity) and it's cold. I just don't want to get hypothermia, being in the cold with wet hair.

When the video said "number 7: Curling Iron" I thought it was a iron like an actual iron used for your clothes. XD I was like "huh? Are you saying we are suppose to put an iron on our heads and start rubbing it all over our heads because if we are suppose to do that, I think I will be burnt to death." XD
