Top reasons you might not want to move to Massachusetts, 7. you hate seafood 6. You want to go out without a wool hat 5. You can't take the ever extreme changing weather were people drive 90+ in a blizzard 4. an airport that is the hardest to land on in North America do to the ocean 3. you don't want to pay a million on a cottage and pay higher taxes than almost every other state, unless you want ocean front property that will cost you three times as much 2. you don't like old houses 1. you take a walk down the street trip fall and the person behind you walks over you. But great sports teams.

I've lived here my whole life, so has my father's side of the family. It is a truly beautiful place and I love it!! The schools are great, many affordable private schools too! (went to Sav Christian) The only downside is that I wish we had a better music scene but the new civic center is about to begin construction (if it hasn't already) and there are several new venues that have popped up since covid "ended". PLUS, besides being in the top 10 biggest St. Patty's Day parties in the WORLD, It is one of only 7 cities in America where you can walk around with an open container!! 🍻 SO CHEERS!!

@georgiacoasthomes3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brad, thanks for the comment! However, it really depends on where you live. For example, I live about 28 miles inland and it is not required where I live. But you are 100% correct that if you live on one of the islands, or by a river or the marsh, you will probably be required to have it if your house is in a flood zone.

It's a laid-back city. Just enjoy it. Take your cocktail in a 'traveler' to promenade around the Riverside. Eat some good low-country food. Enjoy the beauty and history of this old, colonial city. Also, the regulars really love when ladies wear hats and dresses. You'll get many compliments. The 'uniform' for men are polos and buff-colored dress shorts, maybe some boat shoes. At night men throw on a sport coat and jeans or twill trousers to eat at the many of the fine restaurants around town.

You are hilarious! A few years ago I moved from the dry southwest to Jacksonville, FL, I freaked out when I was driving around and it downpoured so bad I had no visibility. Thankfully I was close to my house and remembered my way home. There were fallen branches everywhere in my neighborhood. The hair! Yes, I used to flat iron it quite often, but once there I had no choice than to learn to embrace my curly hair. I ended up liking my curls. I moved back to the dessert, but considering to move to the east coast again. I loved Savannah, the seafood was great!

I was there from '01 to '04 and did love it...but following the news down there it's gone downhill.. that and property taxes and cost of living in the south has ALWAYs generally been lower than the north...sadly the south isn't known for attracting the high paying type of jobs, unless its military/govt related.
