Graded cards in every card game have a limited clientele, making it harder to sell than a raw card. Why? People either want the raw card for a binder, the raw card to play, or the raw card to grade themselves. Due to this, people should only grade for one of two reasons: 1) They want to keep the card for a personal collection 2) They hope to get a perfect 10 from bgs/cgc/psa to sell for a high price, even if it takes a while to sell I do recommend people to look into using one touch cases, or screwdown cases if they want that encased feel without losing the raw aspect of the card. I've been using one touch cases with a sticker to keep it sealed, and a sleeve to keep the case looking nice.

Before selling a graded card 30-50% below raw card price, I'd probably crack the case and sell it raw. But I mainly grade for my own collection and only cards I really like.

That is happening to all TCG's that has been here for a while. After COVID we had a bunch of people getting into the hobby to try and make some money out of it. Only recently that the recent TCG's are now stabilizing in prices because the scalpers are moving to One Piece and Lorcana (as of right now). I'm honestly very happy that the older TCG's are going to realistic prices on the secondary market.

Graded cards are for a specific niche of people. I honestly think grading chase cards, SSP's and such is a good idea. It may take a while to sell later down the road, but it's a long-term investment, not a quick flip. Just my twe cents on it as someone who's been a collector of multiple cards games including weiss for a decade or more now.

A dude named PokeMike talks about the downside of grading Weiss and brings up Disney, Marvel and by extension Star Wars. Weiss collectors/players are weebs we aren't into the Disney channel/comics so it's not surprising those sets didn't do well. Know what to grade, know what's popular and most importantly recognize when the market is down. Seems that way with all TCG's at the moment.

Regardless of what my username is 🫶, and what sets I bring up the whole point of the video still stands. Which is the exact same point you’ve also made: “know what to grade” along with an oversatured graded market for most tcgs atm. I was literally advising grade chase card from popular Weiss sets like mushoku, azur, hololive etc
@J0k3573r Жыл бұрын
Trading card game cards shouldn’t be graded anyway. It’s a waste of time and money. Just screw/mag slab them. You’ll save a lot of money, and save yourself some headache.

It's nice to see that the typically Weiss Schwarz market has started to notice that grading everything like its pokemon just doesn't bring in a return (on 95% of things). Like when I was buying some graded Weiss cards even during the huge boom in prices 1-2 years ago I only ever paid over 10-20% above raw value on two cards. Everything else was within that range if not less even for pop 1 PSA/BGS 10 cards. Think the only people I realy see nowadays still grading everything to try and sell are going the BGS black label route. With them trying to sell to people outside the core market that might not know what they are actually buying is worth at conventions or on insta. But even that has seemingly massively slowed, in terms of people getting actual sales.

Yes definitely! I’m not sure I’ve ever brought a graded Weiss card myself. I always found it more enjoyable and cheaper to hunt down a raw copy and grade it myself. Tbf a lot of tcgs seems to be struggling a bit with graded cards atm. At the London card show last week a lot of people sold raws and singles super easy but graded cards were much slower and harder to sell (obviously give or take some exceptions)
@LivingNPC Жыл бұрын
@@PokeMike 100% think I have like 30 cards graded and 450ish raw so typically hightly like buying raws unless it's a very specific card or it's super cheap graded.

Ive come to realize that grading cards only really makes sense if you plan to sell it. Majority of the time i want to keep my cards that i pull or purchase and dont need a grade from some other human; i keep my cards in a case and that is plenty safe compared to sending your cards in the mail (where it could be damaged) to a grading company that can damage your card and cost you money. Id recommend keep your collection for yourself, unless you plan to flip and sell.

Grading cards that there isnt a graded demand for is just stupid.

would this still apply to the premium marvels? im new to collecting these are my first set ever im 14 stamps into the set with a finnished base and wasnt sure if the stamps would be worth grading
@PokeMike Жыл бұрын
Marvel premium is definitely a set I’d apply this to right now, in fact my example of someone who kept reducing a graded card down in price what a marvel sp from the first marvel set. Most people that were into it collected it when it first released. Personally if you don’t mind about value and selling it, or you think it could get a black label then grade as much as you want. But if you might sell it soon personally only grade the chase or most expensive one imo.
@fsivil2289 Жыл бұрын
It’s different for Japanese Weiss ? price is still high and collectible
@PokeMike Жыл бұрын
I mean it always depends on the cards, if its like TD MAI SP then yeh it does not count! As I mentioned in the video, I recommend grading chase cards only and not just every SP in the set if you care about wanting to sell them soon. Also I don't have to much expose to JP grade Weiss so it's likely it could be very different! In the west right now a lot of TCGs are struggling a little bit with graded cards it seems (give or take the exceptions for very rare and desirable or trending cards)

See, that's how I view it, I'm currently trying ace as a grading service as I was curious about the ace label. It will stay in my personal collection. Otherwise, I'd sent it to beckett, but the turnaround Times are awful 😂.

If weiss wanted to have big growth they meed to get rid of set hit rates and do something closer to pokemon hit rates. The way it stands sellers stores streamers are having a rough time with dead boxes. Guaranteed hit rates needs to go.
@PokeMike Жыл бұрын
I think even just having better hit rates like with hololive vol 2 would make for a much better opening experience in general
@mr.incredible3427 Жыл бұрын
Opening experience is one thing i guess. I think for the game to gain more people the fact that dead boxes exist scares alot of people off and it also excludes alot of collectors who cant afford a whole case. The issue is still affordability needs to be there without the risk of dead boxes to gain more traction and people. its pretty easy to see the top 3 tcgs have a good system without guaranteed hit rates, they are proven track records.@@PokeMike
