There is a channel that is really popular called "Zikrullah TV" and it uses autotune since it has the same surreal effect you mentioned. The reciter also makes some mistakes while reciting, which we all make mistakes, but it shouldn't be uploaded on the internet and should be taken down.This is a warning to avoid "Zikrullah TV" and other channels who use autotune.

There is a very very clear distinction between tajwed and singing.

I agree. Auto-tune should not be used on Quran recitations. It sounds weird and as you have mentioned, loss of proper makharij. And just unnaturally wrong. However, I think some information isnt accurate and I feel most muslim leaders don't really know alot about music theory and blanket haram every single thing music. Which isnt constructive at all. What was shown on the software was change in pitching of the voice. Yes our voice have pitching and is linked to a musical note and even a musical scale when reciting Quran. There is no music added to auto tune. Its just manupilation of the original persons voice where they went off key. Allahualam.

Agreed. There needs to be research done in a topic before giving confirmation that it is "haram". For example, compression is done to videos and audio which can change the sound of the voice. Is compression haram? How much compression is allowed to be in audio? There are no guidelines for technology when it comes to quran and sunnah so it becomes very hard to judge especially for people who are technologically illiterate.

People often think they’re “addicted” to Western music, but in truth, it's the “melody” that captivates our minds. When someone quits music, replacing it with the Quran can lead to unintended effects, like unconsciously “humming” surahs while driving or even bathing. While the permissibility of music remains debated among scholars, those who decide to leave it entirely should avoid turning to “lofi Quran recitations” or listening to the Quran merely as a melody. It is this desire for that “melody” which makes people produce these kinds of auto-tuned recitations. Listening to or reciting the Quran without understanding offers little benefit. This path reflects a failure to truly detach from music; the melody is merely “replaced” rather than redirected meaningfully. “Do they not then earnestly seek to understand the Quran, or are their hearts locked up by them?” (Quran, 47:24) May Allah guide our hearts, minds, and souls to the straight path. Thanks for talking about this issue. May Allah Bless You.

جزاكم الله خيرًا I came across recitations using autotune before, it made me feel uncomfortable. No matter how hard I tried, I felt very uncomfortable hearing it that I tried to focus hard on the words and meanings to get myself out of that state of dicomfort, but سبحان الله I couldn't. This was the first time I felt that way about the Quran, and I hated the fact that I didn't want to listen to it. I always enjoy listening to the Quran, Even if it's recited off-tune. To me, sometimes that off-tune recitation can convey the emotion of the reciter, how they feel about the words of allah, them showing it respect and trying hard to beautify their voice for their creator.This makes me respect them a lot. May Allah guide us to his righteous path and protect us from straying away from him.

With the utmost love and respect for you and your channel ya akhi, i agree with what your sentiment is completely, HOWEVER, what you have put in this video is gross misinformation. Your sentiment is true with regards to Quran and music definitely, but you have inaccurately described how Autotune works. The note in the middle of the screen is the note that the person is reciting - the program is simply detecting it. The function of the program is to adjust the pitch of the audio waveform (by stretching or shortening the wave mainly in amongst other effects) rather than introducing any new instrument sound. In the circle with the note in, the lines going round the circle display how far from the note the input signal is and how much adjustment is taking place. The keyboard on the screen does not function to produce any sound itself, rather it is a visual aide. Please understand my intention with this comment was not about your point itself but rather the information you presented as your evidence was flawed and may Allah protect us from spreading information that may present us as uninformed or dishonest, Love the work, keep it up! May Allah reward you guys

This brother doesn't understand it, it is not the first time. and I made comment long time ago regarding the natural pitch we have built in our vocal chord which can be beautified with practise but he is so fixed with his opinion and calling out Qiraats as haram even though he can't put anything valid argument regarding beautifying of Quran except tajweed. Although I am sure altering or making the those autotunish style effect on recitation shouldnt be used this way which kinda takes the natural tone. Most is reverb and some delay and probably minor eq/noise reduction.
@tototottoto2 ай бұрын
I didn't know that, but lets assume there were also no tajweed mistakes, would you say listening to this type of recitation is haram or permissible(I feel uncomfortable to recitations like the examples in the video). What are your thoughts on videos with recitation like this? For or against and why?
@Mrtamps2 ай бұрын
That's a perfect explanation of auto tune, it is changing the wave by stretching and shortening it
@fettahdhr2 ай бұрын
It does add musical notes
@MAbuRowais2 ай бұрын
In the end it uses musical laws for detecting the pitches and measuring them. And the correction process distort the recitation and produce forbidden cases for the Makharij. Autotune has been designed for music. Therefore it adjusts sound the way it should for music. Using it on Quran recitation doesn’t not change the way it is supposed to function.

I don't think it replaces the vocal with a musical instrument. It just corrects the pitch of the existing vocal wave. The musical instrument shown in the software although looks like a Piano but it isn't actually a Piano. It's just a way to represent the natural occurring pitch of any sound. Most of the musicians play Piano so the software developers have decided to show the pitch of sound on Piano keys so it's easy for them to understand. I don't know if using pitch correction tools on your vocals is ok or not but I found somethings in this video contradictory with the understanding I have of autotune.

Many people are using music in recitations or even in Islamic lectures. Some are even incorporating movies to spread Dawah. 2:26 : that's not true tho it uses the original vocal and increases or decreases its frequency it doesn't add a new voice. 2:32 : that is also not true , auto tune does not touch vocals that aren't off key unless you're using it WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too fast ( setting the attack to very high ) 3:25 : that's not the musical instrument that is used. a piano is generally displayed because that is what is used as a control for your pitch , u would test your pitch against a piano for that exact reason. when u use autotune it asks u what notes or scale u want your voice to be in and then u select those notes on a piano because its generally the universal pitch reference. 4:02 : the notes aren't being added. like i said the piano is a pitch reference its displaying the note you're singing on the piano not adding the sound of the piano. if u sing a note ' ahhh ' your tuner would show u that it is a D in the 3rd octave , if the tuner was using a piano like in the example u showed it would show that a note on the left side b/w 2 black tiles is being played. that note is a D3. 4:56 : funnily enough the azan and the quranic recitation uses the same principles as singing.

moreover there is no consensus regarding imperssibility of music among scholars.
@NANOG-P8Ай бұрын
@@benjumeda2461 iam gonna have to disagree on this. there's like 2 people ( ibn hazm and a couple others ) that think that the hadith is daif while literally everyone else says its sahih including imam bukhari. so its 1 or 2 vs literally everyone else.
@benjumeda2461Ай бұрын
@@NANOG-P8 i guess you are talking about this hadith “There will be people from my community who will seek to make lawful: fornication, the wearing of silk, wine, and musical instruments." this hadith is sahih even according to ibn hazm. but all other hadiths regarding the impermissibilty of music are not authentic. but the problem is that is this hadith really forbade music. because it does not "specifically" prohibit music. an important fiqh rule is “association is not proof for prohibition in itself.” The fact that music was mentioned in association with fornication is not proof for its prohibition. Scholars differ here. wearing silk and wine are directly prohibited by Quran. also there is a lot of hadiths who permits music. So the scholars and not one or two, a lot of scholars and even people among companions and tabiun concluded that hadith prohibits music when it is practiced in conjunction with the unlawful acts. Among sahaba: "Abdullah ibn Umar, Abdullah ibn Jafar, Abdullah ibn al-Zubair, Hassan ibn Thabit, Muawiyah, and Amr ibn al-As" There is also a narration regarding Abdullah ibn al-Zubair. He owned slave girls who played the flute. Once, ibn Umar entered upon him and he had a flute by his side. Ibn Umar said, "O companion of the messenger of God! What is this?" Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr gave it to him and ibn ̕Umar looked at it closely and said, "Is this a Syrian flute?" Ibn al-Zubair replied, "It is used to balance the minds." Renowned scholars who permitted music are Abu Ishaq al-Shirazi, al-Mawardi, Abu Mansur al-Baghdadi, Abu al-Qasim al-Rafi'i, Ghazali, Izz al-Din ibn 'Abd al-Salam, Ibn Daqiq al-'Id, al-Nabulsi, Ibn Hazm, Ibn al-Qaysarani, Abu al-Mawahib al-Shadhili, al-Qurtubi, Al-Shawkani. This movement against music stems from popular Salafism. In my opinion, Ibn Hazm gives the best explanation. Ibn Hazm said, "The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Actions are judged according to intentions, and every person will get the reward according to what he intended." [So], whoever listens to music as an aid to something unlawful is immoral. The same applies to all things other than singing. And whoever listens to music seeking entertainment to give him strength in obeying God the Exalted and motivating him to pious acts, is good, obedient and his deed is lawful. Whoever intends neither obedience nor disobedience, his idleness is forgiven, such as the person who takes a walk in his orchard or sits on his doorstep for relaxation."

Its not an instrument that fills the correction it’s prolonging the vocal and added reverberation It is pitch correction so it snaps the tune back in place It puts the vocal into the Oregon key, but there’s no instrument it is the actual vocal being snapped into its corrected tone

Auto-Tune does not add instruments to correct mistakes, it shifts the pitch of the recording up and down to correct the mistake and fit it back in the intended scale (maqam). Those piano notes you see at the bottom are showing you what the person is singing in the form of notes, after all, this tool is used by musicians the most. Like it or not, everyone that sings or recites is singing in a maqam (scale), if you sing out of your scale, it will sound bad, this is just life, sounds are frequencies, music is just frequencies that are amplified so we can hear them. The reason why those recitations sound weird is because their recitations in essence sound weird, they also drown their recitations in reverb, that's what makes it sound like that, you can not use auto-tune but drown your recitation in reverb and recite weird and it'll still sound the same. Go recite in an echo chamber and hear how it sounds. The Islamic scholars you mention probably don't know even know how to use a phone and are still stuck in the 60s, they reject anything unusual to them. People don't understand how sound works, music productions, audio engineering.
