You have great videos, been watching for years & they will help me if I ever fly again. I enjoy learning it all just because I'm always eager to always ask "What are the rules, what are the policies?" I been enjoying old episodes of an old reality show called "Airline" which was a reality show around "Southwest Airlines". The show is on KZbin now, maybe the Mrs & yourself can do different kind of videos of reacting to the show. Pausing the show, then look into the camera & tell us the audience of similar situations you been in or just talk about how mistaken a customer was as you 2 hopefully enjoy the show. Along continuing to give us advice & tell stories😊 Keep up the great work. And if I can just give you a little advice. Don't have photos like that of the Mrs on your phone. I'm personally had a compromising feeling when you mentioned that & I feel for you. I'm very protective myself. Take care, God Bless

Don't think only other passengers have sticky fingers on your valuables, TSA officers have been getting caught time and time again stealing passengers goods, money, jewelry, electronics, etc. Whatever you have with zippers, backpacks, bags, Fannie packs, purses, make sure it has 2 zippers and/or a way to lock it to keep temped fingers away from your stuff. Most of the times TSA officers got caught stealing they worked in pairs, one pretents to fix your items prior to going into the x-ray and while you're distracted getting yourself x-rayed, the other one gets your goods after the your tray comes out before you have a chance to see anything. This technique is used by most thieves and pickpockets, someone will distract you, while the other one will get his slippery hands on your belongings. Keep your eyes open, airport security sees thousands of not hundreds of thousands of dollars rolling through everyday, and unfortunately some of those offices can't just let the opportunity pass.

@@ProjectUntethered aside having nail cutters and multi-tools taken away (my fault for forgetting them with me) my power bank tend to catch attention every time, it is within tsa legal capacity, but it has an outlet inverter on one of its sides which puzzles less than technological officers. The other catch is being a dual passport holder, I've had less than stellar to very disgusting interactions with airport security based on which nationality my passport displayed. There are times that having dual citizenship can let you off situations, but the opposite is also true. Then it comes the questioning regarding my gear, I'm a camera enthusiast, so I carry lots of lenses, and accessories, so sometimes I get asked twice weather my trip is is business or not. One thing that at times can be really challenging is when is comes to displaying acts of religiosity, I always try to use prayer rooms when available, but people still are downright discriminating, and I get several micro aggressions, from TSA standing nearby when I'm praying or when people get up from their seats to simply having to stand away from just because I quietly read my travel size Quran. Most of the times my interactions with airport security are just fine, nothing out of the expected by any other traveler, are the times that things don't go quite right that hurt. 😎👍

@williamaungleyraud
@williamaungleyraud Жыл бұрын
@@ProjectUntethered well you need to be careful having 2 passports because although legal, they can land you in hot waters when used in the wrong way by accident. I wouldn't want to present my brazilian passport while entering the US, or my US passport while entering in Brazil. That's a easy way to spend a few hours with immigration detectives, to perhaps a night in airport jail until things get clear. Other countries are even more severe where they might jail you first and then you may get a chance to explain yourself later in court. You always want to enter and leave while presenting the same passport to immigration officers, I remember this youtuber that entered Italy with his Italian passport but while leaving he accidentally gave his other passport and raised some serious red flags, he got investigated by the equivalent of the Italian FBI to find out who he was, how long he stayed in Italy and for what purpose he went there, was he a spy? So it was a lot of unnecessary hustle just by simply handing out the wrong passport. I my case, while visiting Japan with my wife many years ago, we got laughed at while requesting a simple transit visa for walking around outside the airport while waiting for our next flight. We were taken to next level security and again treated as illegal immigrants, they counted our money, they got notes of our belongings, then a higher up officer was sent to let us know that I would be allowed in, but my wife wouldn't because of her Southeast Asian passport. When we flashed our American greencards the officer immediately apologized, stamped our passports on the spot and off we went. After we both became citizens with an American passport certain destinations got a lot easier. Where the opposite is true, is that if you ever find yourself in a situation where Americans aren't supper appreciated, or unwanted, or you feel some crook police will hang on to you passport until you pay a bribe, having the sacrificial passport may go a long way. Better to sacrifice a copy of a passport, but when no other choice is available then I'd rather sacrifice the one I use the least for a particular destination. I've never been to a place where presenting myself as an American has ever been dangerous due to hate, but dangerous due to crime yes. Especially if you've ever been to many places in central and south America (which I know you have 😁) when you show that gringo passport immediately some people will look at you as a walking talking ATM 🏧 machine. Even out of the americas there are places you better not show that US passport until otherwise needed. We hear people getting targeted in places like in India, Thailand, Philippines throughout Asia, and definitely in African destinations, or many different places thought Europe. Now being able to flash that second passport can sometimes get you out for free, crook police officers or straight out thieves don't expect people of less known nationalities to be able or willing to pay a bribe or have much in term of valuables to hand over. In conclusion, having that second passport can be a blessing for when times call for it, but if used accidentally in the wrong way it can be a major curse in the hiding. Lol sorry to the long comments, I'm unfortunately not a person of a few words, and good 90% of the times when writing comments I'm either half asleep or half awake, so a lot of typos slip through along with some bad grammar with a cherry of poor keyboard autocorrection 🤣🤣🤣

Keep in mind that some TSA agents are thieves. So, be cautious. I once put a nice Omega watch into the bin. I don’t normally wear a watch, and I left it behind at the checkpoint. It was only a day trip from LAX to LAS. When I reached LAS, I called the security checkpoint in Los Angeles and spoke to a TSA agent who told me she had my watch in her hand. I could pick it up from airport security upon my return that evening. I never saw the watch again. Airport security had no record of its being turned in. TSA had no record. My mistake, besides leaving my watch behind, was not getting the name of the TSA person I spoke with. So, always remember that some TSA people will steal from you, if they see a fun opportunity to take something of value. Protect yourself by putting all valuables into backpacks, etc.

That gift wrap thing is so true. One time a family member packed a bottle of rum (which is fine), but wrapped it around some shopping bag and cardboard that I guess was too concealing for the security scanners. What annoyed me the most is that it was in a checked bag that we had wrapped up in plastic because it was weak and old, so they called us from the gate to deal with this stupidity and when we got to our destination the bottle had broken and spilled rum all over the place...

1) TSA Pre-Check is a life saver. You dont have to remove liquids or computers. 2) Be ready when you enter the checkpoint- bags, clothes, belts, ID, the works. Look like you know what youre doing. 3) If youre a hiker/camper/sportsman like I am, double check for things like knives or ammunition - id been missing one of my good hiking knives for a few months and a nice TSA guy found it. "I wondered where that went." Funnily, that wasnt my first trip through a checkpoint with that item so someone missed it before. It was a good knife too.

After passing through security I asked a TSA attendant if they could unlock for me., explaining my dilemma. They were extremely nice and accommodating-- but it took about15- 20 minutes for them to locate someone with the special "keys" to unlock. Learned not always easy/handy for them to unlock, hence I don't use those locks anymore.

During Christmas time at Denver Airport the line was so long it stretched out to baggage claim... To get the line moving everyone got to keep their shoes on and walked though TSA... That was 1000's of passengers in a day.. Same with metal detectors at TSA Pre-check... wearing the same clothes & shoes some airports would go off and some would not...

I was using tiny carabiners on my carry on and checked luggage, has a tiny flip thing to lock it. On my last trip I switched to TSA key locks. Fortunately I didn’t have a problem (to and from Spain, from US). Am disappointed to hear that TSA agents (or some agents) don’t actually have keys for them. Good to know. Many years ago - before TSA - went to Germany on business. Had one of the original K-Pro computers. Need a transformer to go from 220 V to 110. German agents wanted to tale it apart. I persuaded them to let me do it. Even bigger chuckles was when I brought my 2 1/2 m / 7 foot carbon fiber framed stunt kites on an 8 week business trip to company headquarters in Germany. Guards went crazy when the rods showed up on x-ray. Had to assemble right there. Adult men don't play with kites (Drachens). Then made the mistake of flying at night with strobe lights attached to demonstrate to others at hotel. She was impressed :). Too close to Autobahn. I made the news thanks to "UFO " reports and backing up traffic. Thankfully police were understanding. Had to let several try to fly them. Without lights on. Imagine this at night, invisible from a distance, with flashing strobes on top. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX6liapuaK2Ufrc

It’s really a simple process, follow the info signs, use the time in the queue to get your stuff organised- like watches, cellphones, wallets, EarPods, belt etc into a bag or similar. Loose slip on shoes are a must - like Sketchers. I seriously think passengers lose 25% of their brain capacity at checkin and another 25% at security checkpoints.

The last 2 times I got the SSSS it was back to back on flights after returning to the states after living in Japan (used military passports only for flights to Japan and back, so not sure if it was because our regular passports hadn't been used that often), I had my daughter with me both times, one time I was injured with a torn ligament so my leg was in a brace so they had to have me take it off to check that it was okay and this was also the time I lost my wallet (filling up the rental before dropping it off on base) just before with my licenses, etc so luckily I had a few things to help me with getting on the plane (prescriptions, photos of my IDs & passport & costco card), luckily I had starbucks money on my phone to buy something for my daughter for food since I had no cards or cash to buy anything. I also had the phone numbers & card info saved in my phone for all the credit & bank cards so I was able to cancel them while I was waiting to catch the tram back to the airport. I travel with all my ids/passports now but carry them in different places and have different travel wallets as well.

I have a camera stand (can also be used as a selfie stick) but it folds into a cylinder. If I take it in my carry-on, it does get flagged (either by an agent or a scanner, sometimes it does cause me to have to do a secondary check) because it looks like a weapon. However I open up the device to show them and once I do that the officers let it pass since I’ve shown them that it is just a holder for a phone or camera that folds small and is not a weapon or anything dangerous. Alternatively I can keep it in my checked baggage because I don’t need access to it during the flight, but I should cushion it with something so it doesn’t move around and bang on other hard items.

I've only ever flown between EU countries (but at the security check they never asked where I'm going, or checked my ticket, so I could have flown anywhere). Never had to take off my shoes. Never put my liquids in a bag and sometimes they just let me through, other times they gave me a bag and asked very kindly that I put them in it. TSA has a pretty bad rep internaitonally, even with people who never interacted with them. Over here they are just another public servant, most times they are kind/friendly (I've even ocationally had a short chat with them) or at worst they are indifferent. Oh and do you guys still have to have printed boarding passes? I haven't had one in the last 5 years, always digital. And there are just the standard fields (name, flight, seat etc.) and a barcode, so the SSSS thing wouldn't show up anywhere.

@@ballain1 as I said, I suspect it works differently in EU, since the people at the security check have no idea who you are or where you're going when they scan you/your bags. I also never heard anyone mention that this would be a thing (between friends, colleagues, people I've talked to on planes, or overheard conversations). I assume they could waive it if it were to happen forcibly, but also we get to pay an extra fee for checking in physically at the airport, as opposed to online. That's why almost nobody does it and printed passes are all but gone.

First mistake is not to have TSA pre-check. The 311 rule does not apply with Tsa Precheck. I fly routinely and have never had a problem with liquids in my backpack provided they were less than 3 ounces. But they do not have to be in one bag that’s clear. In addition, you did not have to take your shoes off with Tsa Precheck. TSA pre-check offers of much faster way through security. In addition, it’s routine that you have less “new” travelers speeding up the process. Most Tsa Precheck passengers are very savvy and can quickly prepare their goods to be scanned under the x-ray.
