DO NOT MISS Glacier Bay on Your Alaska Cruise! EPIC VIEWS! (Holland America Koningsdam)

Visiting Glacier Bay National Park on your Alaska cruise is a must do!! This is the only US National Park that you cannot visit by land, and the best way to visit is via cruise ship. The ship stops near the ranger station and Park Rangers come onboard for the day. They will give full narration over the ship’s PA system and you can also hear it on the bow camera station in your cabin.
What’s great is that this is a slow moving day so don’t be in a hurry! Find a good spot: on your balcony, in the observation lounge, on an upper deck or even out on the bow of the ship! We always like to go to the bow at least once… and on Holland America Line cruises, they serve hot Dutch pea soup outside… it’s delicious and takes the experience to the next level!
The two main view points are Margerie Glacier and Johns Hopkins Glacier which are the two largest. But you will pass several other glaciers during the voyage.
After an enjoyable day of glacier viewing, we spend a few hours in the spa’s thermal suite and then head to dinner at Rudi’s Sel de Mer to celebrate our 26th anniversary ❤️

Happy anniversary to you both. This September it will be 54 years for us. If & when you ever go on a Princess cruise do the balcony dinner so worth every penny. It was amazing & the best food we ever ate. Service was 1000% out of 10. Lol. But really do balcony dinner on a Princess cruise. Again Happy Anniversary.

omg, thank you so much for the walk down memory lane last year on the Koningsdam. I loved the pea soup turning up just as i was taking in the glaciers. Shout out to Mohammad in the salon who does an amazing job on long hair!!). the climatizing factor is a real thing, it's relative and you have experienced what Alaskan's and Canadian's experience in 5 degrees Celsius ....you feel the T-shirt vibe after -15C (whatever chill factor that is in F :) ). off to Iceland next month on the Neiuw Stantendam and appreciate your series on those ports as well guys. I was in Glacier Bay in April. Got to see Marjorie calve. I was comfy that day and roamed the ship in my Sherpa lined sweatpants. Not cold at all. Just lounged at the Waterfront of Deck 8 on the Bliss and took in the sights. Seeing Dawes Glacier and Endicott Arm in June 2024 back on the Bliss. 😊

Glacier Bay is truly like no other....another great video! Loved seeing the thermal suite, those heated loungers are the best! I have a Thermal Suite pass for our 18 day Hawaii cruise in January 2024! Ol Margerie looks like she has shrunk a lot since I first saw her on my visit in 2009! Alaska is truly like no other place on earth! Thanks for sharing your time there with us and Happy Anniversary!

Belated HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. I always enjoy watching your videos. Just saw this video. I've been on several HAL Alaska cruises and LOVE them. They have the best food and the ships are smaller so they can maneuver closer to the glaciers. My son and I are going on another HAL Alaska cruise May 2025, his first. Cant wait. Happy anniversary. Enjoying the videos. If you want to get closer to the glaciers in Glacier Bay, I recommend doing one of those small boat tours from Gustavus. It's not something you can do on a cruise because of the logistics of the round-trip flight been Juneau and Gustavus, overnight hotel, and early morning day cruise start. But the views were much closer and captivating.
