video didn't say it transitioned from copper to zinc. said it went to 95% copper, 5% zinc, steel core. the '82 transition was from that composition to 97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper. it helps to understand what is being said before trying to correct something.

ya but some coins weight are different from 2.9 to 3.2 anything inbetween those numbers. Also i was preferring to the copper switch to more bronze composition, but yes younare right also about 1982 _1983. thank you for the comments.

I don't think so. Besides how can you have 95% copper, 5% zinc, and a steel core? That's more than 100%. 95% copper and 5% zinc up until and including 1982 which was a transition year. If the '82 penny weighs around 3 grams it is 95% copper. If it weighs around 2.5 grams it is a primarily zinc penny.

@@Americancoinsahhh this explains some things. So do you about newer quarters & do they have a similar steel core? Recently I was examining a totally destroyed copper quarter someone had bent back edges, & noticed that copper was only a layer with a solid silver looking core, probably nickel come to think of it duh doy. Late '70s from what I can tell, was wondering if it could be a 40% planchet. Yet to hear about post '76 quarters on leftover 40%ers, there's gotta be some undiscovered somewhere bc they got a copper cladding

Okay by the way, eBay has a their own separate coin seller/ buyer platform where some of the most serious coin collectors across the world bid for coins anonymously ofcourse of course, because there so wealthy they don't want targeted by the wrong person but you can post in live auction wich runs for 7 days and you set your desired bid price, and then collectors put there bids in and then try to out bid each other and remember they are also looking for a discount so they to can resale or have insured and certified which cost them a pretty penny

@ the transition occurred in 1982 from 95% copper to 95% zinc. The only steel Lincoln cent was made in 1943. The guy even says it changed from “95%copper 5% zinc to 95% copper to 5% zinc” in the video that isn’t a change it’s the same thing if anyone was paying attention.

This vid appears to be engagement farming. It is complete nonsense. There are no 'Steel Core' cents except for 1943 wartime cents that were zinc plated steel. These are the only ones that are magnetic.
