Whoever runs this account could you please, please, please thank Tony Mestrov for me. My Nan passed away the other week and she loved manly, she supported them since 1947 when they were established til her last day as a 90 year old and instilled that love for Manly into me. The club sent a letter to our family and we buried here with it. Please tell Tony we rate him highly and that really made our day.

As a balding young man… struggling to not be ashamed, it would be inspirational to have an episode where woodsy doesn’t wear a hat ✊

We all know agents and clubs are talking regardless of contract status. Players, agents, and clubs are always trying to get out of current deals, and that seems to be the source of the frustration for all. So why don't we have a transfer system that allows all of this to be transparent? A transfer/trading system allowing negotiating and trading of all players, regardless of contracted status, where a currency governs all trades can legitmise all negotiations. Clubs receive trade points from ladder position and losing players to other clubs, and spend trade points to sign new players. Trades to occur in transfer periods. Trade points can be cashed in for additional salary cap on deals. The Clubs will get compensation for losing players and can manipulate their rosters. Players get more freedom to move when contracted, get auction style period to drive up their price. The agents will then get more avenues for negotiation. The media get more stories and defined periods for peak drama. The NRL gets a system which can be tailored to help even the competition and the broadcasters get a trade period which can be marketed and televised, and a will benefit from a more even competition. For the fan, everything is more transparent and gives hope to fans of teams at the bottom.

James - some background would have been helpful How many accredited agents are there ? What is the typical number of players that an agent manages ? How much do agents get paid, typically ? I've heard that the agents normally get 6% of player fees. Is that right ? Seventeen teams with a salary cap of (about) $12 million each. Six percent of that is about another $12 million. That's a _lot_ of money floating about in what seems to be a very loosely managed agency system. Potential conflict of interest to have a player-manager acting for coaches as well as players. Easy to fix by accrediting managers to be either player-agents or coach-agents, but not both. Can be done if the will is there to do it.

In relation to having managers choose between players or coaches, which manager would choose to manage coaches when there are so few of them. Would never work
