Just like Misanthropony, you're an example of someone that everyone, not just bronies, should strive to be. When things got bad, or became their worst, you didn't skip town and run away with your tail between your legs. You took a step back, you attempted to learn, and you came out better for it. That takes great dedication, passion, and most of all, emotional strength. Thank you, Goldenfox. People like you motivate me to carry on, to learn, and to not hold myself back. You're an inspiration, man. Never stop learning and never stop being the real you. Because the real you, in all honesty, is pretty cool.

Around the 19 minute mark when GF starts ranting about the criticisms the moral got, I felt like the thoughts I had been having about this episode for the longest time were ripped out of my head. After people like Joshscorcher, VoiceOfReason, Silver Quill, and *groan* Lily Peet criticized the episode for its presentation of the moral, they made me feel like I was wrong for liking the message. I won't try to change their minds (it's their opinion, after all), but I do feel like when people like them hate on the moral, I feel like they're missing the point of the episode. As Dr. Wolf described it, like with some of the worst forms of depression, many of our negative feelings are self-inflicted. In some ways, we are our own worst enemy. Thus, we have to learn to forgive ourselves and contain the enemy within. This may be a bit of a bold statement, but I think you two understand this episode more than anyone else in the fandom. From what I can gather, people like GoldenFox, ToonKritic, and MisAnthro Pony have made plenty of mistakes that have taken them a long time to get over (and they still are trying to get over somewhat), thus they took to the episode. I, too, have done a lot of things I'm not proud of and I'm still trying to learn to forgive myself despite of all the mistakes I've made (the fact that I'm a bit perfectionistic doesn't make it easier). This episode shows that while it isn't easy, it isn't impossible. Maybe I can someday stop being so critical of myself and learn to accept all that I did, as well as live with it. If Luna can do it, I can too. Thank you, guys. You really made a review worth thinking about.
@revaslatts80113 жыл бұрын
You had to bring up Voice's collab review. Let's just say I made an undignified reply. In my defense, he said Luna is "overrated". Still, I can't forgive myself for my meltdown.

As someone who deals with trauma as well as dealing a lot of what Luna did? Violently lashing out at an older sibling, needing to be sent to a mental hospital at least 6 different times (being sent to the moon for a thousand years), needing different medications to stabilize my moods (being hit with the rainbow blast), and so much more...This episode hits extremely hard.
@enclinker79517 жыл бұрын
The Tantabus is like depression, depression does not go away, instead you have to live with it. Even if you were “cured” of that depression, you are never freed of it, it’s always there slightly lingering there in the background and sometimes it will remind you that it is there.

this might be my absolute favorite review of yours. it's a fantastic defense of a morbidly overhated episode. keyframe saving golden from his own self-doubts is a fantastic moment for golden's character. some lines are hilarious out of context (25:59) and the ending after the dream shows key and golden winding down after the emotional torture they faced in the nightmare. it's a beautiful reminder of how someone's girlfriend/spouse can save them from their darkest moments and how loving someone else can help you love yourself.

I cried so hard on the last part. When she explained about the tantabus and Luna. I've never seen it from that side but now it opened my eyes. Not only was it a lesson for Luna but also for me. I've been hated, misjudged, used and abused why who life. Heck, even now I'm 21 I realised I've no one who I can call without a second thought. People always saw me as some of homeless kitten. Give it love, feel sorry for it and you gave yourself a good name. I never had a good friend who I truly could trust and who would truly care for what I had too say. But this made me think.. Why go on trowing yourself a pity party and feel sorry for yourself while you can just accept things how they are and try to deal with it. People with love and people will hate. Some people will always hate and sometimes you just have to get over it. Sounds easier than it is but if you accept that they always will hate, no matter what you say, is a big step. My motto is: never trust people, they will no matter what, sooner or later let you down. And sadly, no matter how hard I tried: 2016 only proved it's right

Wow,.... just WOW.... that was one hell of a ride for a review and I loved every second of it!!!! You really outdone yourself whit this Review Fox. The Presentation, the music even your own little story for the review.....its just on Point. I don´t see why you always apologized in the past, that you took longer for releasing a video in the first place. Just an more then outstanding job of ALL of you guys. ..... Now for a bit of a personal note.... I know that something like this what happend to you in the review was going on for a longer time. And I´m a bit shocked that it seemed to hit your just as hard.... it hitted me one year ago.... I had those Nightmares as well, HECK it even got to a point where it involved my family in a level of dark nightmare, that even "Cupcakes" would be a bedtime story!!! Then after a while when i was surfing here in KZbin i found (more or less accidentally) Josh´s first MLP review and after that your, Key, Doc´s and all the others channels.... those nightmares where less freaky then before. And then came Season 5 Final.... and then it hit me.... and i saw THIS episode a day before it, because i had to backtrack a bit (i couldn't stop watching o_O).... we CAN´T turn back time to "better" our self, to heal from this "thing" that eats us up in our minds... HECK i don´t even WANT to know where I or ANYONE form my family or Friends would be right now if things just been different... You know, I think we have a bit more in common then we think... i wish i could meet you on Bronycon next year, perhaps even talk about this personally then here in a Comment. Hey, we could also show Toon and Josh, who the REAL Mario Kart Pros are XD ..... but fate had other plans whit me, a surgery on my Nose because of a tumor in there, lost my job and my saved money had to go in my new PC, since my Laptop just broke overnight *sigh* well, can´t be helped i guess. But hey, promise just one thing ok? Stay who YOU are, what even rant you may do, whatever happens what ticks you off... just don´t question yourself over it later and let you effect your feelings or even your work! I just wish the best for you and Keyframe as well for all of the reviewers community and Happy Holidays.

I can't help but think of how Luna supposedly being "contradictory" to this episode in her past appearances speaks to a character depth that people don't seem to realize. She is clearly a troubled pony with a lot of problems she buried deep down. The pain of living in Celestia's shadow and being expected to force down her hurt at not being as well loved as her sister, her eventual going over the edge as a result of that pain, and the guilt she feels after learning her lesson that rage and hatred wasn't the answer. Perhaps she seems so calm and level-headed before this episode because she is hiding her pain. Many, many people who are struggling hide their problems with a mask, and I feel Luna would be no exception.

I'm speechless. This so epic and also so deep. Pretty smoothly you mixed the review with the confession of your personal experiences and painful memories. You can't erase your past. But you can forge it into your strength, use the past experiences, learn from it. Painful life lessons teach us so much more, than happy times, it's up you how you use that experience. Will you close yourself in a constant state of grieving? Or maybe you'll make sure the past will never repeat itself? Having a real friends, people who care about you, who worries about you, who are always there to help you is the right answer for that.
@AtrocityEquine018 жыл бұрын
I have to agree, that the dream aspect should have been a bit _more_ psychological looking back. yeah the dreams come off as silly and still freaky and even visually appealing, but if the Tantabus is some psychological entity, shouldn't it...ya know, go deep into the Mane Six's own insecurities and such? I mean the _Nightmare Rarity comic arc_ did that perfectly, despite how polarizing that arc was. Maybe it was planned but removed by Hasbro due to "scaring the kids" (Because a mare trying to enslave the ManeSix and removing their cutie marks _totally_ wasn't scary, Hasbro..)? Honestly I love the episode *BECAUSE* of the moral: I myself have the problem of constantly putting myself down for mistakes, even if said mistakes weren't really my fault or if I didn't intend to, and I can see why you (and a slew of others, MisAnthro especially) can relate to it, which is why it surprises me people didn't like this episode or said things like Luna didn't learn anything from "Luna Eclipsed", because yes, she's going to forgive herself _so easily_ considering what she feels she's done. While the theory that the Tantabus is depression/anxiety (or in some theories, _self harm_), it still fits to what Luna does: Accept it and live with it. Yes it's still there and she (like all of us with depression/anxiety) has to struggle with it, but all we can do is control it and use it as an example to better ourselves (like your mistakes, Golden, along with any other mistake everyone has and has done). Overall, This is definitely one of the BEST reviews on the fandom's most polarizing episode, I love it

I can honestly relate to Golden's freak out. For years I was bullied by my own family for becoming an introvert after being bullied for being overweight. They have explicitly told me to get a life and stop doing the things I liked to focus on what they believed was what I wanted to do. I have tried to stand my ground, but they're my family. That's the hardest thing for me: trying to stand up to my family verbally and physically abusing me. I began physically attacking what I loved, mentally abusing myself and shutting myself down emotionally. It is very hard for me to forgive myself when I think about what I've taken and being so weak to try stopping it to the point I've broken down sobbing and pleading for death at my own school. I can't even tell my family about the breakdowns because they never seemed to care. So Golden's breakdown feels very real to me because I have gone through the same thing. The only difference is he actually has people there for him and I'm too scared to tell anyone in real life. Please, if you actually read all this, you're not alone. If you think I'm faking, believe what you want, but don't ever forget that you're not alone and forgotten.

Thank you for making one of the most beautiful things I have seen since coming into this fandom in early 2012. And thank you for finding a most impactful way to express how the moral of Luna's episode was truly intended to be portrayed.

Well done, and I'm glad to see someone finally put this episode in a GOOD light! That said, MAN! That bit where your inner Tantabus was taking over was BRUTAL! I hate seeing people in pain like that! So glad you had Keyframe there to help. Kudos to you Keyframe, for being an awesome Marefriend! (Also, that clip of RL-Key's arrival at RL-Goldie's town was adorable and well placed!)

Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I have always loved seeing u two together, but this is different. The story, the review, the analysis, it’s all so great! I loved this episode because I somewhat related to the stuggle that Luna went through, and I know so many people complained about how it was solved too fast and she immediately forgave herself, when that wasn’t the case. You two showed that it was only a first step in a process of healing, and talked about how I felt about it. I have depression as well, and I’ve had instances where I’ve done something wrong and felt the need to punish myself for them even though others have forgiven me and don’t hold it against me. I’ve driven myself into the ground emotionally and mentally over those mistakes and it affected everything about me. How I acted. How I talked to people. How I treated my family and those I loved. But like Key did with gloldie, they still cared for me and helped me get through it. It’s not a simple act of figuring yourself and then it’s over. It’s a process that you have to work through, and you can’t do it alone. Having help is nothing to be ashamed of, and it’s not a sin to forgive yourself for mistakes you’ve made. Also, the dynamic you two showed in this video, how understanding and vulnerable you two were, it brings me to tears. This is the reason I love you two. Not just because u r adorable, but because you’re REAL with each other. U both are AMAZING! This video was a masterpiece! Keep it up!

Why must I be so vulnerable to these, AHHHHH IT'S BEAUTIFUL, The animation, the story, this review is amazing, And Golden, we all have people in are lives who can help, we just got to accept them. as for the episode, I loved it, the only problem for me was the pacing and the ending bit but other than that I loving, Merry Christmas Golden, and a happy new year.

25:46 That moment where Golden meets Key at the airport or whatever it is and Key let's go of what she's holding and literally jumps in Golden's arms....that is a moment to appreciate. You know you have someone in your life that loves you. Think about them everyday. Cuz they will always be there when you need it.💖

This was beautiful.. Amazingly put together and it made me cry! I can relate to both you and Keyframe, Fox. I have my own dealings with depression and anxiety that I know will never go away. I was bullied and teased for everything I did, and at times, I just wanted to disappear. But I had to learn, they are a part of me and it's taken so long to begin dealing with them. I had to realize I had friends I could rely on who wouldn't judge or leave me as others had in the past. This episode made a huge impact on me and you both made me realize just how special this is. Thank you.

wonderful work golden and key the animations are awsome and the review itself showed great detail, ill also add that the psychological aspects of your review and the episode show how we often see ourselves compared to how others see us, its episodes like this and the mane attraction that reminds me why i enjoy the show so much, cant wait for the next review.

Wow Gold and Key you really did a great job on this review. This is probably the best review I've ever seen, great message, intelligent analysis, and effective lines written to project how you feel inside. Bravo, great job to both of you and anyone else who worked on this, can't wait to see you try to top this review. I love watching people succeed in finding their inner gifts given to them in life. :)

0:52 Uh-oh...ANGRY GIRL ON THE LOOSE!! DUCK FOR COVER!!! But, all joking aside, this was a really good review. You and Keyframe really dug into the ins and outs of this episode, and it's an easy relatability to depression in today's world. There are many people today, like Key said, who have their own versions of the Tantabus, whether it be working on a review, writing a story, or anywhere in between, and seeing it come to light here makes it all the more relatable.

Glad you've been letting all these feelings out lately, Golden Fox, and to think this all started because TK was having his own similar problems, difference is, he let that turn into Cartoonz (no offence, Toon), all in all you're taking those first steps, which it great!

The struggle of one who has trouble forgiving oneself. Hmm... in addition to my own struggles when I'm overstressed, I also think of Shinji from Persona 3. He did something he finds wrong, and he's not ready to let it go. Not yet, anyway.

Thank you both for making this review, this touched me deeply. I liked the conclusion Key came to at the end with the Tantabus absorbing into Luna; that she didn't forgive herself immediately and the Tantabus is something she still lives with every day. This has given me a new perspective on not only the episode but on my life and my struggle with anxiety and depression. Thank you GoldenFox for being so vulnerable and helping me and a lot of your viewers feel not so alone in our struggles.

Golden inspires me every time I watch his work. Not only because of the quality of his work. but the quality of his character. I respect this man so much. To quote a great film: "Why him? Because I am afraid, and he gives me courage."

This episode, Luna and even you, from seeing this review and the same problem that both of you had... This is like myself. I really want to forget my own bad past. :'( I'm sorry about this Golden. This is just like on #SpeaktheTruth happend. My only tipp that I have for you: Just... Keep moving forward, to your Future. Let your past forget (I'm still trying), forget also on yourself (and myself) what you're done before and let your heart shine what you're are... a Brony Reviever. Not as good as the others I saw, but you're a great one. And I can understand that you took it over a year. Good Job, to both of you. :') And this Episode: This is also one of my favourite Episode of the whole series. This lesson: "If I can truly forget myself what I've done in the past, then I think I can move forward... to make something new." And that's why, Princess Luna is also one of my favourite Characters of all time. I don't care when the other is saying that is like the comic is better or Princess Luna is OR (like in Silver's and Voice's Review.) I'm proud to be a Luna Fan like you. :')
