This is great tutorial on how to paint clouds. Even after watching other artists teach their way of painting clouds, I have come back to this video over and over again. They are very realistic. This is a good foundation from which to add rain or a rainbow. Thank you for the tutorial!

Thank you. So many videos say beginners but they don't explain how they are holding the brush or the stroke pressure or highlighting. These are the most important things to learn or everything looks flat on the canvas. Keep up the great work!

I've watched 32 different artists tell me how to do a sky their way. Everyone had a different method, some suggested that unless I bought their specialty brushes, I'd never be able to paint like them. And in one video, a guy plopped down 7 different colors I think he used 5, for what, I haven't a clue. So being one who has followed the KISS principle pretty close, I'm sticking with John.

As on your DO AND DON'T video about how to paint trees, I was taught to paint my clods the DON'T way you show on this video. I have found out how all that is why my paintings have always turned out to look so cartoonish. Was trying to figure out why that was so and now I know !!! altho im late here but im grateful YT recommended me thia vid. I hv watched diff artists on paintings clouds, while i undestand some of it, i still don't understand what i was doing n my clouds looked like the "Don't" 😅. Now I finally understand how to paint clouds n where I did wrong. L like the fact tht you pointed out to decide where to place the shadows n the highlights, it makes painting the clouds much more easier. I wish i had found your vid earlier !

Very good work so realistic looking I have watched a couple tutorials on clouds before and then I go try them and still fail. I have a problem with over working the area.
