A big DON’T for Microsoft in 2025: do not announce Multiplatform releases at your own shows. Leave that for the neutral places. They did well with Doom: The Dark Ages. On Xbox Showcases they only showed: Xbox, PC & Game Pass. On the Bethesda channel they showed the PS5 version.

Microsoft owns Bethesda, so Bethesda's channel is still Microsoft's. What you're wanting Microsoft to do is keep trying to hide that they're now a multiplatform publisher. That sort of mixed messaging is the major problem they've had for a while. They need to just pick a path and tell everyone, everywhere they can. In their next Xbox showcase video, they should just put a PS5 logo in whatever game trailers they show for multiplatform games. Just get it out there. And if anyone still wants to buy Xbox hardware, that's fine, but if the hardware we play games on isn't important, then Microsoft needs to show that. Stop saying, "Everything is an Xbox," as if they won the console war and just speak the truth, like, "Xbox gaming everywhere". That sounds so much better, and there's nothing confusing about it.

The issue with Destin's argument about the loss of money per console is that the consoles are are manufactured and shipped to stores. Majority of the loss has already happened, by lowering the cost you can begin to actually sell more and recoop that money spent. Microsoft themselves have said the money is in the software and subscriptions, the best way to help that is to drop the prices of the console. More people in the ecosystem means more money longterm, especially now that they are delivering games for the first time in a LONG time.

consoles often are sold at a loss yes, but unsure how Destin got the $200 number.... if it's a 2022 number even then it was $100-200. theres been heavy inflation but also the manufacturing typically gets cheaper and more efficient over time. it costs much more to make the first unit off the production line than it does the last one

movies do get release dates long in advance but now get delayed much more than they used to it seems, perhaps because the release date is announced too soon (for purposes of their discussion on not releasing smaller properties to be overshadowed by something huge at the same time like GTA 6). movies are getting bigger and bigger too in scope and budget like AAA gaming and likely encountering the same issues that even a release date in 1-2 years or more typically in the case of multiple release date announced at the same time as when a studio puts out its 3-5 year scheduling plan, we're seeing big movie release dates slip a lot now. can still get out of the way of the delayed new date, but the delays are happening

Also, where were you in 2009 when the world was in a recession, that didn't stop xbox from lowering the cost of a 360. Hardware prices always drop no matter the economic conditions. Biggest Do is Backwards Compatibility. Find ways to either get older games playable or get them remastered. In the same vein, they need to lean in to next gen upgrades. Get studios to make updates in the same vein of Witcher 3, cyberpunk, etc. Make people rethink games they missed out on or didn’t finish
