On this episode of the audionerds podcast the guys talk about sample rate and the argument of if theres an audible difference. Does 192 Khz sound better than 44.1 Khz. Is oversampling in a plugin different? Is 48Khz that different from 44.1? Lets find out

I've loved stereo imaging plugins for years, my *go to plugin* now is the Yum Audio Spread Light (free) because it sounds natural, works flawlessly, you can switch between M/S or Hass widening, and adjust the volume / panning in the plugin. It's perfect for production workflow because it's so easy and just works!

you can def export 3 versions of your master, 44k, 48k and 96k and then reload a session where you piece it back together so that intro is 44k, bridge is 48k and chorus is 96 or whatever you want, im actually gonna give it a try 🤔

Dear, Devvon, my greatest teacher, please explain how to do the mixing correctly. Is it possible to focus on db peaks? I've seen videos about vocals, "... best way seat in the mix", kick snare vocal, but my vocals are either drowning or too loud on top of the mix anyway. The best ever, hello from Russia

Always used 48khZ once i heard its recommend for film...im like why limit and try to upscale later. Usually things work out better with a better start. Id use 192khz, but I only feel it and feel my resources being draind. Its like making music as the computer is booting. That slugish feeling.

44.1 is essential for low end in hiphop, you can up sample after with a good amp to 96k for clients. I believe 96k is also essential for todays time of mixing because of samples already have the right breakup through ensoniq, sp12, mpc, etc. mixing at 96k allows the additional information to be detailed precisely and modified with minimal artifacts. Upsample if you’re concerned with IMD or Nyquist but if you’re up sampling every plugin then you’re in the wrong sample rate or it’s a gain staging problem.
@kennera
@kennera Ай бұрын
I work in 44.1 and what i say is until ANY artist can make an album that SONICALLY sounds better than Dr. Dre's "The Chronic", NWA's "Ninjas for Life", and any of Michael Jacksons first 4 albums, you are not going to really convince me the higher rates used today are "Better".

Your confusing records that were mixed in analog
@kennera
@kennera Ай бұрын
@@Reggi_Sample And that is actual my point. Those records were recorded recorded and mixed in analog. An "outdated" format now as Mr. Courtney would say but yet still sounds superior to any of these new higher rate recordings and mixes we hear today. So 44.1 still sounds great and is a viable recording format.

Why lock yourself into 44.1 when you could always downsample to that later if you wanted to? Now you’re much more prone to aliasing. Look into foldback and aliasing.
@ILoveTelecasters
@ILoveTelecasters 8 күн бұрын
And those albums are 48k when you stream them. I’m not going to pretend I can tell if a song 44.1 or 48, but there are advantages to 48 such as less aliasing. Also a lot of converters are better optimized for 48k.

I agree about the technology is over the top from the past but… Why is the music we make doesnt sound nor feel better?Thats where im at with it. Terrace said musicans had what they had the year it came out in the past right and there music resonated so much more than today thats why we love older gear,20 years now nobodies going to be getting nothing vintage from now because of “technology”. So i dont think i know because of technology being so fast and companies shitting products out left and right getting old “vintage” stuff is going be over because the future generations are going super update gang and thats really where we are at now…But to each his/her i say use whatever you master and love.

You guys are forgetting different tone temperaments in different countries. Like the Indian scale in not off the same scale format that you’re familiar with.. as well as like when people sing in the Arabic tuning for that type of music. Those scales are used really often. Maybe not in RnB and rap because they aren’t very musical genres but you’ll see it in rock and jazz etc 🤷🏻
