For me, these would not have a worse reputation . Especially not if they are not directly responsible for it. However, this could possibly be attributed to naivety, maturity and a careless approach to responsibility. But you can also learn from mistakes, so there's nothing to stop you going on a date.

Lack of sex Ed and the refusal of the Catholic Church to endorse most types of contraception are the main reasons. Kids are fantastic, but best brought up by two commited married partners. Choose wisely in all things!

Another interesting topic! IMO young women in the Philippines, particularly in lower income households, are generally more romance oriented and less financially motivated in selecting a boyfriend. So a poor guy who is cute and has a good line of BS can do well. That plus lack of emphasis on birth control has inevitable consequences. The ladies don't "wise up" until it's too late. Ms. Lorie, Beautiful yellow and green outfit btw!

@moderndaydrifter4672 not so much in the Philippines, the laws are not on your side. Example: since there's no divorce the husband can come back and off you and get away with it. Also if the child is young, you can't be alone with the child. Let's say you want to take the kid/kids to a mall (without) the mother, you can be arrested. It's not favorable to you, to be with a single mom. Please be careful. Research the laws about this subject.

40 years ago there was a lot of teen moms here in the US. When access to contraceptives and sex education in public schools those statistics began to drop. The main concern back then was overpopulation with dwindling resources. Countries like Ethiopia, Somalia millions of people died because of starvation. Even before that in China millions also perished because of lack of food. With billions more population growth the resources seem to have been solved. Now the concern is negative birth rates. The US and the Philippines are also on the path of negative birth rates. As affluence increases birth rates tend to decline. Here are some of the fastest depopulating countries based on birth rates: Bulgaria: Expected to see a 22.5% decline in population by 2050. Lithuania: Projected to experience a 22.1% population decrease by 2050. Latvia: Anticipated to have a 21.6% decline in population by 2050. Ukraine: Expected to see a 19.5% population decrease by 2050. Serbia: Projected to experience an 18.9% decline in population by 2050. Bosnia and Herzegovina: Anticipated to have an 18.2% population decrease by 2050. Croatia: Expected to see an 18.0% decline in population by 2050. Moldova: Projected to experience a 16.7% population decrease by 2050. Japan: Anticipated to have a 16.3% decline in population by 2050. Albania: Expected to see a 15.8% population decrease by 2050. All moms and their child should be celebrated and supported no matter their marital status. This non-sensical stigma does not belong in our modern society. Let's celebrate father's too because they are just being shamed for not being able to support his family. I can suggest things like what if fathers get priority in hiring for all jobs and government can supplement a company with a tax break and the father gets a small monetary benefit for the family's health and well-being. Start celebrating and stop shaming.

Interesting topic as always. The answers of course make a lot of sense, although it also seems there is a tremendous pressure on young women (even girls) to have babies to “complete” their lives. I am sure this makes it easier to overlook red flags in a partner or “forget” to use a condom. I love the responses to your “second chance” question. Your videos frequently give a nice shot of compassion for the day :)

Every single mom I have talked to says they were with a Filipino guy and when they got pregnant he left her. The last girl in the dark top and blue jeans is very beautiful. I am surprised she is single. She probably has many offers already so I won't even try. I wish the government would make the guys responsible for the children they create. Especially financially! In the USA we have child support systems in place and they really do make the guys responsible financially. Filipino guys do not want a woman with kids and the single moms hate Filipino guys after what they did to them or their friends so they look for foreigners who will accept them and their child and create a happy family. Many young Filipinas do not even consider a Filipino boy they immediately want an American man to be with forever and know he won't leave them.

An unwed mother in America is not that big of a deal nowadays but not so in the Philippines. There it can be a major social transgression or looked down upon. She might not be able find a Filipino husband because he would be stigmatized as well. Filipino men can barely take care of themselves much less another man's child. Most of the time an unwed mother in the Philippines has no real choice but to seek a foreign husband. Given their good feelings towards America and Americans very often it’s going to be an American or other Westerner. My Filipina is a single mom and she's wonderful. I just am going by what I have learned from her.
@dominicurso6912 ай бұрын
Yes 100% they do. Broke phone. Baby needs food. Red flags.
@ejtaylor732 ай бұрын
Let me preface by saying my opinion excludes widows, they are a completely different topic. I wouldn't say Filipina single moms have a "bad" reputation, unless it's from their own people judging them. Single moms, not just Filipina's but every where, get the reputation of being promiscuous, and that leads men to believe she won't be faithful, loyal, and trustworthy, things men VALUE in a woman they will commit to. They can also be seen to make poor decisions, they don't regret the child, just the person they made it with, which shows they made a poor decision and should have taken more time before jumping into bed with them, and for an allegedly religious people, they don't follow the morals and values set by the religion they claim to have faith in (MANY verses against sexual immorality). Single moms bring a lot of extra "baggage", emotional scars from previous relationships, the ex still being inside their heads; comparing the foreigner to the ex and going into the relationship with low/bad expectations of the foreigner because of it, and now the foreigner has to prove he's not the same which will get EXHAUSTING, which will take away his PEACE and happiness and make him miserable; the biological father getting involved in the relationship and if he knows she's with a "rich" foreigner you can guarantee he is going to come back into the picture; her priority is HER child (As it should be) and not having time to spend with the foreigner so he might as well be single; the cultural differences and differences in discipline; the foreigner has no say in how the child is raised because it's NOT HIS child. The only thing the foreigner gains is extra stress, drama, headaches, and financial burden, the same thing he would get with a single mom in his own country. This is generalizing and does NOT apply to ALL single moms, there are SOME unicorns that none of this applies to, but good luck finding them, and again, this excludes widows. On a separate note, there is NO such thing as unconditional love, there are ALWAYS conditions. "Love me unconditionally, accept my flaws and as I am." IMPOSSIBLE, accepting you as you are and your flaws are CONDITIONS. Any preference, standard, boundary, etc., are all conditions on that love. Thank you Lorie and ladies for the interviews, I hope you all have a wonderful day.

It’s not the single mom in the Philippines stigma from the viewpoint of other Filipinos that is the issue. From the Westerner, and American’s mostly, we call an illegitimate child, BAGGAGE! In the States, a mother with baggage is an issue, and most times they become unapproachable by a prospective man for long term relations. Mainly because she may become unfaithful with him too, and have more baggage in the future, and not with the prospective man that she may be currently dating. Most westerners don’t understand the difference with Filipina’s with a child versus western women with a child, and there’s a HUGE difference! My Filipina wife of almost 33 years had made the same mistake early in life, and had a 3 year old son when we first met. Obviously we worked through the issue, and are still happily married 30+ years later. Westerners, i.e. Americans, are for the most part very understanding and will warm up to, and accept the young children of of other Filipino men with their prospective girlfriend on most occasions.

No Boyfriend Since Birth (NBSB) seems straight forward, but what does that actually mean? Everything except bedroom time? Or is NBSB mean never held hands or went to dinner and a movie. Or can you 'date' a person and be NBSB because you never introduced him to your family. When does a person go from NBSB to having a boyfriend?

In the worst case, in the west, a single mother will get government support, and the father will be forced to help their child, they do not get away scot-free like I hear about the irresponsible Filipino ex husbands. The Philippine government needs to step up and try to help to make things easier for single mothers where the father of the child has deserted the relationship of supporting their own child. In the best case, in the west, the single mother has a good job and can afford to remain single until she finds a partner, this choice is not available to Filipino single Moms. It's a shame if they have a bad reputation, as it's more than likely not their fault and survival is not always under their control.

Hi Lorie,,by now,you know I say what I believe,,,and again,,this is just my belief! I think the big issue is this,,pretty much everyone knows the ridiculous catholic laws of the Philippines,,no divorce,,EVER. Mom's are more likely to have been married and people dont want to be involved with a woman that's still legally married. And it seems that ,,even though Filipinas expect honesty from a partner,,but arent bothered at all if they feel they need to lie. In the Bible,,God doesnt differentiate between regular lies and little white lies,,because a lie is a lie,,,so with this habit being well known,,,its kind of hard to trust. Lies arent just from women,,most guys lie their butts off. Personally,,I hate lies,,and I dont lie,,,since I'm not perfect,,I cant claim that I have never ever lied and anyone being honest cannot claim they've never told a lie. So ,,between having a kid and possibly being married,,and the Filipina habit for covering up by lying,,its actually pretty scary. Sometimes you have to keep yourself safe. In this country it's pretty easy to see if anyone has been married and been divorced. I've dated Moms,,and even with divorced women,,you usually end up mentally with the ex inside the new relationship. I know it's not fair to moms,,because there are some really good ones. The only way I'd date a Mom is if her husband had died. Lorie,,did I state my point of view clearly,,so people can understand what I'm saying?? Hope you have a happy Sunday! Ttyl,,,Marlon
