A&M isn’t an out of conference match up. I think Floridas season is made based off those first 5. You can easily go 5-0 to start the year. Could also go 1-4. Really going to be telling how they start.

[admittedly this post is pretty off topic, just something i found kind of interesting] i love how college football scheduling has to be made enough in advance due to logistics that you get things like florida gets this year. that might not be the case here but still i like the scheduling in advance necessity in CFB because you cant quite know what its really going to look like before that seasons starts. it speaks the CFB being unique. you could reschedule the NFL every week and aside from the annoyance that might be imposed on the actual teams no one would notice. NFL teams are based in bigger cities, American cities are built worse than if you had a blind retar... eh hmm, mentally handicapped person dizzied throwing darts at the wall, but still bigger cities have better abilities to handle an NFL gameday. contrast that with the hell that is baton rouge after a big 2:30 kickoff. now add on the fact that many moret ravel for games in college than the NFL. then add on the fact that many if not all college cities are smaller "college towns" with accordingly less robust infrastructure and it brings up all kinds of logistical nightmares even when well planned. i dunno, food for thought.

As an FSU guy who obviously enjoys watching this program struggle so consistently like they have recently, and one who typically won’t recognize the difficulty of the schedule like that fan base typically has tried to echo in seasons past when unjust (last season being a perfect example of this overhyped thought process). This season’s schedule however, is unrivaled honestly. I agree with your take on different teams playing the same schedule having different personnel and so obviously different takes on schedule difficulty when compared. But, thanks to to the timing of the recent additions of OU and Texas (along with no divisions). Added then too their own scheduling in advance they clearly were not properly planning for with their scheduling of both Miami and UCF in non-conference games (when you by law are already locked into the FSU game to end the season). Made this possibly the most ridiculous schedule in recent memory. Obviously with divisional play and comparable permanent cross over teams think Mississippi State vs Kentucky and Ole Miss vs Vandy for SEC teams previously .. You just didn’t ever see any team literally face the entire top have of the conference like they are scheduled to (minus only Alabama this season for UF). Even the very teams under Spurrier and Meyer would have struggled going 3-2 to end the season. Especially with the venues they have to go into with the clear disadvantage in talent in coach in every single game in the 2nd half of the season. Billy won’t survive it. The team could honestly be significantly improved this season, and very easily be 3-9 to 5-7 even if it does come to fruition and somehow avoid games with no TD’s against the Charlotte’s of the world, or losing at home to 3-9 Arkansas type teams this season. It easily is the most difficult based on the caliber of recruits and depth on each team they will face this season (regardless of whether certain teams are possibly being overhyped going into the season like A&M, Miami, Tennessee or Kentucky).

I would say Michigan is the next runner up to the toughest schedule in college football. That's 5 guaranteed top 25 teams and Probably 3 top 5 teams. TEXAS OSU USC WASHINGTON OREGON

ill take it further, those last 5 games of florida's season are not just the toughest 5 game stretch i have ever seen but i would be surprised if that isn't the most difficult 5 game stretch in the history of college football. say we werent going to a 12 team playoff, keeping the 4 game format of recent. i do not think it is unreasonable to say out of the 5 opponents florida closes with here, 4 could be the make up of that 4 team playoff. hell, as an LSU fan who is looking at the tigers as a very, very serious and dangerous team that should have college football on notice heading into Brian Kelly's 3rd year (i think year 4 and beyond is when we really start to cook), i think its very possible to say we are the week of "breathing room" in that miserable gauntlet of fire and hell. of course i dont believe this. ole miss will always be ole miss of course. just saying...

I think it’s much simpler than anyone thinks. If UF can field a solid o line, I think they’ll surprise people and get 8 wins +. If they can’t, record could be anything with Billy being shown the door. UF was in a lot of close ones last year where a horrific o line and defense cost them. Defense need to also not to be horrific. Not asking for a big jump lol. Went from 3rd and granthem to whenever they might go forever.

on the aggies... now, they have a new head coach and whenever that happens the program gets shaken up. as far as i can tell it seems like they have held it together relatively well (relative to what seems to have happened over in T-Town). regardless, the point is new head coach == some sort of transition. having said that, am i the only one who looks at the aggies over the past 2 or 3 jimbo seasons and thinks, yeah they lost as much as they probably could have but when they come to town they are a major threat. im an LSU guy, Brian Kelly's first season 2 years ago we went into that A&M game with a whiff of playoff possibility still in the air (we would have had to also beat UGA in the SEC championship, no one thought we would be able to handle that but still, the possibility was open). that A&M game was the last game of the regular season and everyone in Baton Rouge and LSU nation, faced with a team that would not make a bowl game, was scared to death. it turns out our fears were warranted. A&M dominated us in that game and played like everyone thought they should have been playing all season. the overall point i am trying to make, even though i literally hate the Texas A&M Brown Shirts SS is that without the handcuffs and constraints otherwise known as Jimbo Fisher I can sit here and say that the Florida Gators should look at that A&M game as being something like what Lou says "they havent been very good, we should be able to win that game". maybe, because you're florida you say "we should win that game", i get it even with the misery of the last couple of seasons with Ogeron there is always the "we are LSU, we can win" attitude, but there is no SHOULD maybe just a CAN. A&M is not a loser like the Gators looks like they might be right now. (oh and for what its worth, the LSU "we can win" attitude ended up validated, Mr. "For Throwing The Players Shoe 25 Yards Down The Field"...)

As a Gator fan I have to give my honest opinion.... Yes fellow gators this year very well could end up a 4-8 szn with an absolute ceiling of 8-5 (including bowl). I do believe we can win the first 7 in a row. Imo The hardest of that group is UT but we all know UT tries to beat themselves whenever we play, and I fucking hate saying UK has our number too but at least that's at home. Obviously Nov. Is a gauntlet, but I truly think we'll win at least one which one idk probably FSU or Miss but crazier has happened. About our team I expect them to be way more disciplined (special teams ofc) a decent growth in defense, and a 50/50 slight growth/regress on offense. Now about Billy. His win number has to be >5 to keep his job, but even with another losing record the suits that control the money may keep him another year. Why? Cause we're still paying Mullen, and his Billys buy out is still quite large. Giving him one more after this potential disaster also gives him time with Lagway to provide a pop in his sophomore year. His play calling on offense needs to be less obvious for any of this to probably matter anyways, but who knows. Can't wait for the next season

Absolutely tough schedule, no doubt about it but look at all those Home Games. How many Games on the Road do they have? And when they do travel where are they going? Do this for an exercise: Add up all the mileage that Florida will incur on their Road Games and then compare that to all the other SEC Teams. I'm willing to bet that Florida ranks in one the top Programs in the Country that travels as few miles as they do. Florida does not travel.

How many games do you think Billy needs to win to keep his job? Florida with Stricklin at the helm seems likely to give him more leeway than a lot of schools and ADs would be. I think he could stay with six wins, seven for sure. Five and I think he's probably gone. I like Billy as a person but I'm not sure he has the fire and the guts of steel for the pressure of a school like Florida and a deadly conference like the SEC. The team has the talent to surprise, but OL play absolutely has to be adequate, and the stupid mistakes have to disappear.

Big difference between Fla and Mia is Mia went 12-13 the past two years with a soft ACC schedule compared to Fla going 11-14 with a much tougher schedule. If Miami beats Florida in the Swamp everyone will say it’s not a good win. If LSU beats Florida in the Swamp everyone will talk about how hard it is to beat Florida in the Swamp no matter how bad they are…that’s just the way it is. Miami could go 10-2 this season and people will still say they’re no good because the ACC is terrible. That’s what we do in college football. When we want a team to be bad we just scream who have they played because typically most teams play a 3-4 game schedule out of 12 games. The biggest thing about 1st round playoffs games will prove to be proving and disproving conference narratives. If the ACC playoff rep wins their playoff game the opinion of the ACC will drastically improve…if they lose that playoff game people will say “See how terrible they are”. This will be huge for coming seasons as conference narratives will lead to 3-4 loss teams getting the nod over 1-3 loss teams simply becsuse of conference narrative. Both media machines ESPN and FOX will push this all season every season until we get the Power 2 NFL Style league were then the AFC (SEC) & NFC (B1G) won’t matter anymore than the AFC and NFC matter in the NFL. It’s vital for the BIG XII and ACC to dominate their non-conference slate…even then the narrative will be the conference is terrible. You’ll have to win playoff games to disprove that.
