Thank goodness. Weak-grip mommy here wanting to place moulding on a door. Saw these and wondered whether I needed a poly product instead of wood.

For the first week of cuts, pine shoe mold was no issue for these. If you step up into anything bigger I would say these will frustrate you beyond belief. Also, one hit cuts make the best. Try and get the moulding in the best (and final) position possible and make one "power" cut.

If they become dull is there a way to sharpen or replace the cutting blade?

Great question. To my knowledge, replacing the tool would be the answer. That being said, I have to be honest and say I have no actual idea if they sell replacement parts. Based on the price point of this tool, I would say probably easier to just buy a new one.

Do they work on more types of trim versus just quarter-round ( shoe mould) ?

The effective cutting range on these is about 3/4 inch maybe 1.5" on scribe molding. Definitely not a "trim" cutting tool, but rather a scribe/ shoe implement.

Replacement blades? Or replace the tool ?

Crescent Brand is "resharpenable" but some other brands are replaceable. Over a year in now I can honestly say I need to re-sharpen, for what its worth in your shopping.

Home Depot carries them, and you can order them online as well from their website

Lee Valley also sells them and they have attachments for them for cutting pips etc. Also you can get replacement blades for them too.

They must work better than the plastic miter box home depot sells. No idea how that thing has more than 1 star on the reviews

100% my dude, those things are absolute garbage. You either make the wrong cut on the wood or the right cut on your hand.
