I remember visiting this place with some friends years ago and like you say. A friend of mine had his wallet stolen from a fiesty black girl who approached him near the Christopher Colombus Statue. He was surrounded while they dipped their fingers into his pockets.

I have to admit I didn’t notice the thieving rabble that used to be so prolific down La Rambla. Maybe because I wasn’t there in the late evening or night hours - I had better places to be than to potentially become a target of pickpockets - if anyone knows if they are no longer part of the scene do post a comment below 👇🏻

I just returned from barcelona. My hotel was pretty close to las ramblas. Everything was fine except one situation when i entered the market hall at las ramblas with both hands in my pockets protecting my belongings. One african guy approached me with the line „nice shoes“ and wanted to shake my hands. I only thought „come on dude, im wearing the ugliest tracking shoes, thats all you got?“ 🤣 of course i refused to shake hands. I went there 4 to 5 times. So not sure if it’s still a pickpocket Hotspot or not.

@TheWonderingEnglishman It's an irony to me that you, who is not from Europe, post a video warning about pickpockets in Europe and then laugh and critise the first tip that an actuall European gives you while your own tips are the exact ones that leads people directly into getting robbed...😅 You don't have to do them, but kindness is always important, but it's okay. I won't comment any tip ever again.
