A great list and I would add have your LLC managed by managers, not members. This protects the ownership information in state records.

If am in the music business, living in California, with zero employees and no physical office, would you recommend starting my LLC outside of California? I live here in LA and don't plan on moving anytime soon, but am trying to avoid paying $800+ a year for business renewal.... However, all of my free-lance work is done in California (as of now). I like to make the LLC names somewhat generic but then have a DBA that more describes what the business does.
