I am a low income senior. Bought my house in 1998. Current value is $355k more than my original purchase price (unrealized gain). I would have to sell my house to obtain enough $$ to pay for this unrealized gain. I'm too old to be forced into house hunting again.

With the housing market as it stands, and established homes worth at least twice as much as they were, they would just be collecting taxes for nothing. Taxes should have NEVER come into existence. They were invented & began during the Civil War by Lincoln to help fund the war. The Civil War should've never happened because slavery should've never happened. They were supposed to have been abolished two years after the war ended, but (obviously) never were.
