How to Spray Dormant Oil on Fruit Trees.
One of the best ways to protect your fruit trees is to spray them with Dormant oil. Andrew from the Howard Homestead demonstrates how they spray their fruit trees with dormant/horticulture oil and liquid copper. These methods are safe for an organic orchard and will help your trees thrive.
The best time to spray dormant oil is after leaf drop and late winter. If you missed the Fall spraying window, don't worry, the late winter one is the most important. Make sure to read the product label before spraying for the correct mixing rates and recommended personal protective equipment.

Hi Kathryn, we will try to add that to the list! We do have high-density planted orchards, but the trees are much more established. Perhaps we can plant a new example this spring in our Demonstration Garden.

What is the mix ratio of Liqui-Cop and Horticulture oil? And after a dormant spray do you need to spray during the growing season or leave it alone. I've got bees so I'm concerned about those too. Thank you for the video.

You can mix the two together. How much depends on how much you are needing - just be sure to follow the label instructions! Do not spray while your trees are in bloom, otherwise you can reapply copper or horticultural oil as needed (if you have a pest or disease issue) throughout the growing season. We recommend using dormant oil before bud break to prevent problems before they begin. During bloom you should not spray trees with anything as it can harm the pollinators. You can apply an all-seasons horticultural oil after your tree is done blooming. I hope this helps!

Yes, you can apply Stark® Tre-Pep® when transplanting trees, shrubs, and roses to promote quick, early growth and establishment. It is also fine for feeding transplanted flowers, vegetables, and houseplants. Works well on established plants too.
