My sister in law gave me a tip, she said she cleans a little every day. One day the bathrooms, one day vacuum and wash floors, put dirty dishes directly into the dishwasher. And put things back in their place when done using them, it sure saves a big clean up later in the week. Now the trick is to train your family, that’s the hard part! 😂

When you leave a room, look for what you can take with you... dirty dishes , trash, papers, etc. When my 5 kids were young, they each had a hamper. I won't pick up or search for dirty clothes. I would go get a hamper or two and wash the clothes. Small loads are easier to manage. I also believe in one set of sheets! I have several pillow cases, which I like to swap out every 3-4 days though. Tidy as you go, clean up after yourself, easy peasy! Same rule for your car.... when you get out, see what you can grab... trash, etc. Enjoy this new chapter of your life Griffith's!

I clean a little every day in my home. I maintain the kitchen, Run dishwasher when it’s full and clean the 3 bathrooms we have. However, we do have 3 lovely ladies who come in 1x/month to clean for us. They do the heavy stuff like wash all the ceramic floors and windows and they’ll hit the bathrooms too if I ask. I cleaned up enough for 45 years as a nurse. Now I clean to maintain my house. The heavy duty stuff I leave for these wonderful ladies. I really appreciate them and hubby & I know that they can use the money too. We even leave them a tip because that’s how much we appreciate them coming!❤️❤️❤️

Great advice and you're right the more clutter, the longer it takes to clean. I wash sheets and my bedspread and put them back on the bed right out of the dryer, no wrinkles, no folding or storage problems. Doing a little each day makes it so much easier and it looks so much neater and cleaner. No shoes in the house keeps the house cleaner, dirt and germs stay outside and saves wear on your rugs (I don't have carpet). This time of year my mom would be gearing up for her spring deep clean, wash curtains, upholstery, vacuum mattresses and under beds, pulled out everything in cabinets and closets, got rid of everything she no longer needed or used, she would clean everything before putting it all back. Then she'd open the windows after her spring cleaning "to remove the stale winter air" lol. She was such an amazing woman, I miss her everyday. ❤😊 Thank you for sharing the art of a clean house.

Such great ideas. I change sheets once a week. I need to get rid of some sets because I agree it would be way easier to have less. First thing every morning I make the bed, shower if needed, get dressed and do makeup. Then I do breakfast and clean up the kitchen. My husband and I clean out the sink after each meal and always before bed if we haven’t had time during the day.

For times of sickness or times when we are extra busy in sports I'll get some paper plates and plastic spoons to dishes but make sure it's not for too long. Like I'll just biy one large stack of plates and once those run out I go back to normal dishes. My kids are so helpful and love loading their own dish too. I make sure to tell them they are doing such a great job and I dont make it a negative experience. I just say we are a family and we all have to do our part and they are always more than happy to do their part.

It takes me about about an hour and a half to go from one end of my house to other cleaning because we always keep things picked up. Granted, its much easier when its just the two of us! I usually clean well on Mondays after the weekend when the kids are around and on Fridays so everything is ready for the weekend. Also, we have two dogs so vacuuming a couple times a week is a must! I always run the dishwasher at night before bed and I also wash my sheets and put them right back on the bed. I wash them weekly though. It also helps that my husband is so good at picking up after himself! In 43 years of marriage I can count on one hand the number of times I have had to pick up any clothing or towels after him or put his dishes in the dishwasher. He's a gem!

You inspired me! Just finished dinner and immediately got the dishwasher filled and hand-washed the items I don't put in the dishwasher! Normally, I do get the dishwasher filled some time before I go to bed, but the handwash items frequently soak overnight. Then the water is cold in the morning and my husband will throw his cereal bowl, coffee cup, etc. into the cold water. We know how that goes. And I agree that stuff on your hard surfaces makes cleaning much harder. I struggle with that, but I'm going to put some effort into coming up with a solution. Thanks for the inspiration, and keep doing these videos please!

We are a family of 11 with 5 kids still at home. Over the years and with that many people, plus working parents, you can imagine how messy things can get in a hurry. So, everyone has a job to do everyday and an additional weekend chore to help the household. I always say our ship will sink without everyone's help! I have instilled the term "company ready" in my family and kids. The house is never perfect but at any moment, if someone were to come by, we are company ready. I also live by the idea of never leaving a room without something in my hand if it needs put away or thrown away. Clean and tidy as I go. Thanks for a great video as always!

I am a mom of four and recently had each kid pick out 1 cup and 1 mug. The rest of the cups I put in a cabinet we don't use for when people come over. I also told them to keep their cup on a cute placemat I got at Walmart. It makes it fun to set the 1 cup per member on the placemat and I don't have cups every where anymore. I wish I started this years ago. My kids are ages 3, 7,9 and 11 and are totally keeping up with this new idea😀

I need to do my house. Learned to think before I buy. I say, will I use it and do I have a place for it and do I have something that does the same thing already. But sadly when I moved I kept stuff in boxes for when our construction projects were done. Same with the kids toys and stuff. Now I need the energy to sort it all and sell and donate and toss but don’t have a lot of energy but slowly will get it done. Then maintaining will be easier. I recently got rid of so much linen because of the same thought. Accidentally gave away to many towels though when we had guests we had no extra. Lol. Now I told my daughter when she has friends over for sleep overs if they want to use hot tub to bring their own towel

Love this…and funny but I figured that Chad was a neat nik…what a surprise…I wish I had been neater when my kids were young…I used to let things get out of hand and then had huge clean up jobs to do…I’m much better now and I always make the bed early every morning. On the other hand I like keeping 2 sets of sheets for each bed because I like to remake bed and not wait for laundry to be done. You’re such an inspiration, Jennifer , by just being you.

Hi Jennifer and Chad, I am a new subscriber and have been watching your girls channels too. Bonnie is sure a hoot. Our family loves watching videos from all of your family members. I've become a minimalist and so dislike cleaning when things pile up. I hate the clutter. We've been donating excess knick knacks and clothing, it feels great to live simply. So I've been dust/wet mopping on Wed and Sat. Same as our bathroom Wed and saturday. My house stays so clean. I dust when I wash the sheets. I go to bed nightly with a dishwasher running and empty it in the morning. My husband sure loves the bed simple clean lifestyle we've adopted. Thanks for the reminders Jen. Hope you heal up from the recent Gum surgery. Take care, Viola Ps I'll be joining the 60 club in March, so we are not that far apart in age.

Nicknats are dust collectors.. I keep only the bare essentials on my countertops to make it easier and faster to clean. Same with furniture. We all have too much stuff!. Last weekend I was going through my clothes closet and trying on clothes. Clothes that no longer fit or didn’t look good on me went in a big black bag for Goodwill. Dropped them off today after work. No sense of hanging on clothes you don;t wear and they take up closet space. I am glad you mentioned good habits. Mom taught us good habits by making us work first and after our chores were done we had free time. Good habits help you be more productive and not waste time or procrastinate. BTW, thanks to Chad for cleaning up “his” things. Lol.

I also go through each room ever 6 months & declutter as needed.. it’s too the point I don’t have to do that anymore. I don’t buy new things, I have gotten rid of everything I don’t like. This is absolutely the key to keeping things clean and tidy; clean as you go! When my girls were young, i worked and so I tried to keep up on things because no way was I going to spend my precious days off cleaning! I did have to do some, of course, but for the most part I didn’t really have a whole lot. I did do laundry though, so we had clothes (school and work) for the coming week. My youngest daughter has always been very particular about keeping things clean, while the other 2 were pretty much the opposite!! It was an ongoing battle, and now that they are grown, we laugh about it! This one Sunday in particular, I called upstairs for the girls to bring their laundry down. My youngest brings me her basket, and all of the clothes in it are folded nice and neat. I said “Honey, you didn’t put your clean clothes away”, to which she replied, “mom, those are dirty”!! She wanted her room to be clean and tidy, and that included her dirty clothes basket! She’s 35 now, and yes, she’s still the same way; her home is immaculate. Her sisters tease her and say that she vacuums herself out of the door! 🤣🤣

"It's easier to keep up than to catch up". And for those shoes, we have two 18 pair metal shoe holders, mount to the wall, it was $19.+ on Amazon. We mounted them in the garage right by the door that goes into the house. This way it is easy to take them off and put them right on the rack and you step into the house without the messy shoes and they are all organized and tidy!
