Thanks. I've been trying to clean up my articulation by changing my tongue placement. I think your suggestions are really going to help.

No problem! Think about the sound you want and adjust to get that sounds the body will do what it needs to in order to make your sound image a reality.

Great explaination. Sometimes I'm playing along just fine and a note just comes out air. No buzz. Its unpredictable and I can't seem to eliminate it which leads to performance anxiety. Any thoughts?

You’re probably playing too loudly and too open in the aperture (middle opening of your lips). Drill every note 5 to 10 times with a clean tone AT A SOFT DYNAMIC LEVEL and centered intonation. Your goal is to have an 100% accuracy average WITH EASE AND RELAXATION before moving onto the next note. Start with C below the staff and work your way up chromatically. Do 5 notes per day or per practice session until you reach C above the staff (or the highest note you’re able to play right now). One of the ways I’ve eliminated performance anxiety is to be obnoxiously prepared as much as possible AND let go of the things I can’t control. Note accuracy is something you can definitely control.

I had this same problem yesterday. I got past it that same day by playing the note once and then removing the trumpet, placing it back on my mouth and playing the note. I did it over and over again. It’s basically practicing your accuracy. Eventually you’ll get it. This is the day right after, and it’s only happened like 3 times, while it happened at least 50 yesterday.

But it’s probably a mental issue. How do you beat a mental issue? Pray, and keep trying no matter how much you want to sit down, or do something else.

So I have a weird problem. I’m a clarinet player trying to learn trumpet and almost three years in I still can’t reach high a’s. Also my tone is pretty bad and I can’t tongue very fast with the trumpet. Without the instrument I tongue pretty fast but with it, yikes. I think it may be that I haven’t really adjusted my embouchure for a brass instrument because I tongue with the middle of my tongue instead of the end. Sorry it’s hard to explain. Idk where I was going with this it’s just bothering me

Based on what I read, seems like you know how to fix your problems.
