Hey Kyle, another great video. Did my first over seed last fall using the steps you mentioned. I was like a proud Papa when it worked and filled in! The toughest part is deciding how long to wait before you mow. Fertilizer and water makes the existing grass grow (fast) too.
@lakehouselawncare17552 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, Jonny! I’m glad to hear about your success. You’re right, I struggle with waiting long enough before mowing after an overseed. It’s ideal to wait 2 weeks before mowing after your overseed. Im way too impatient for that!

Perennial Rye is soooo dang pretty. Best looking lawn. Unfortunately, I am in Lexington, NC and Rye (naturally, talking about Perennial Rye) just does not go so well. Great video. Lots of people overlook taking care of the existing weeds before doing anything else. For the third time.....job well done!

This fall I'm trying out that chicken doo doo that you talked about in another video. Another pointer that I would add is to be mindful of the prodiamine seeding wait time for anyone that put down prodiamine as a crabgrass preventer (especially if it was applied later in the spring as in my case). The prodiamine product I used (HJ Prodiamine) has a pretty long seeding wait time.

Where do you get your seed? I live in an area where the dirt is very sandy. What do you recommend
@user-vf8su4kq3d2 жыл бұрын
What i do is....id mix up some granula iron and water(make sure the concentration is quite strong)...add on some baby shampoo(surfactant) and mix up well in a sprayer! This gets rid off all broadleaf weeds...and even clover! It does not damage the grass(obviously the grass in the sprayed area gets a bit darker for a week or two)! Possibly the cheapest weedkiller you can have , and it works 👍

Thank you for an very informative video! I’m a new homeowner and I’m struggling with my new sod. It was laid out late June/22, by August/22 I had weeds everywhere - primarily crabgrass and nutsedge weed. I been plucking it out but it’s spreading like fire. Also, when i pull it out, some of my new sod comes out with it. I’m devastated! What would be your recommendations as fall care so I would have a nice lawn next year? I’ve fertilized once, planning on doing once again soon. Can I aerate and Oversee a new lawn? My husband wanted to detach rake but I think this would be too stressful for a new grass. Please help!! Thank you.
@lakehouselawncare17552 жыл бұрын
Hi Elaine! I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’re having with your new lawn. I wouldn’t aerate or overseed your new sod. You just need to keep up with watering it and build up its roots by fertilizing. Chick N Poo, or Coop Poop are great fertilizers for new sod. For the weeds, you can use a screwdriver and try to stay on top of pulling the weeds that pop up. Good luck to you!

Hey Kyle, just did a renovation following all of your tips and tricks. Only a week in and things are looking mint already. Question for you. I know you spoonfeed through the fall and in the past you have used Scotts Green Max, which I plan on using. If you do a fall overseed, do you still do a high nitrogen spoonfeed after certain amount of time? If so, how long do you wait?
@lakehouselawncare17552 жыл бұрын
Hey Taylor! Thanks for the comment. I’m glad to hear things are going well. It’s best to wait at least four weeks after overseeding to use a fast acting nitrogen fertilizer like Scott’s Green Max for your spoon feeding.
@taylorwatson882 жыл бұрын
@@lakehouselawncare1755 Awesome. That was my plan, probably even wait 5 weeks. Thank you sir!

Hi sorry if this is a dumb question but after blanket applying the weed killer , do I mow ? Pick by hand ? Or rake the lawn and throw away the dead weed. I want to make sure I’m ready for detaching. Thank you in advance
@lakehouselawncare1755 Жыл бұрын
You can just mow as usual. The weed killer will slowly kill the weeds and they will shrivel up, no need to take them up.

@@lakehouselawncare1755 again, let's put one ahead. You DON'T overseed KBG. Not with KBG. Your PRG will need this probably every year, but video can not be made assuming all lawns are sissy grass :)
@aliaskink2 жыл бұрын
I'm virtually in the same vicinity as you and trying to figure out how you get up to 3lbs in the fall with .5 N every couple weeks. I start up fertilizing again late Aug but I'm putting. 6 N every 2-3 weeks and then blasting it with .92 N of Green Max one last time around Halloween but by that time we've almost had our first frost. I'm around 3.5 N by then but I also have KBG which is notorious for needed more N. It's very important to get some potassium in the fall too.

You’re right about the potassium! Good point, Ross. Sounds like you have a great plan for the fall!
