Doing coast fire atm. Working 4 months, 2.5 months off. It keeps me busy.

That sounds pretty cool! I'll definitely have to find something to keep me busy too. Maybe I'll just make more KZbin videos

Just found your channel today. Congrats on the great content and your path towards FIRE! It sounds like you’re really doing great. I’m in a similar position as you (although a few years older) living in the same high cost of living area as you watching so many people just burn up their above average salaries on extravagant lifestyles. I’d really emphasize step 1 of “Figure out what you want.” If you’re doing as well as you say you are, you’ll hit your FIRE number in what feels like a blink of an eye. What do you want to do after then is the real question. Start a family? Switch to a more fulfilling job that pays less? Move to a different area? Pretty soon you’ll be asking more and more tough questions about what you want your life to be. Luckily you’ll have more financial freedom than most to actually pursue those dreams.

Thanks! It really is crazy how much people spend in this area. So many hate their jobs but don't realize it's a choice! I've been giving a LOT of thought about what's next. I like working, just for myself, so I might double down on writing and educating! We'll see what I'm feeling in a couple of years, though. What about you?

Luckily I have a job that I do relatively enjoy and get a lot of satisfaction from, so my perspective has shifted away from RE to just FI at least for the next several years. Hoping to have kids soon, but minimizing associated lifestyle creep. No need to get some huge home on a cul de sac with a fenced in backyard just for a kid. The park near our apartment is fine.

How do you retire when all the money is in retirement accounts that can only be accessed At 59 1/2?
@RunningonFIRE2 ай бұрын
Yeah great question, I'm making a full video on this! The basic answer is that you can roll money from retirement accounts into a Roth IRA (no contribution limit, you just have to pay taxes) and withdraw the money 5 years later. This is called the Roth Ladder Strategy if you want to learn more (and stay tuned for my video on it :) )

Which of these things will you do to retire faster?

You are not on track to retire at 28

I'll keep you updated! It really depends on 1) The stock market 2) where i decide to retire Assuming 7% return and the same spending, I am. If I moved abroad, I could do it even faster. I would probably need to move though; I'm in a really expensive area currently where I'd have to stay really frugal Happy to answer any questions :)
