When I learned to jump, something that I did that really helped was trying to reach down, tuck my knees up, and touch the edge of my board. It helped me a lot to keep my shoulders square and my weight over the center of the board. Especially on side hit at weird angles, this helped me a ton.

I’m a 47 year old beginner and this video makes the park look easy. Thanks Kevin, I guess I’ll be either cursing you or praising you at the end of the 2022-2023 season. Hey man, sweet board - what is that you are riding?

That's so awsome! Without any background in board sports, even with... it will take some time to learn the basics of riding first. It's definitely not as easy as he makes it look haha. But a good foundation of skills and control in a variety of terrain and conditions will set you up well 🙂

Hey Kevin - love to see you riding at Northstar / Northern California. I learned to ski and then board there in the '90s. It's great that you're showing the trails and runs that I'm so familiar with. Keep on doing amazing work!

You guys rock! You read my mind, I was just wondering about how to land on the board and you answered it the next day. Can you talk about speed more? I want to know what fast is for you. I track myself on a GPS app, and 30-35mph is fast for me. Can you explain what you consider to be an average speed to be comfortable with? I don't know if im slow or what I should aim for.

Learn your fundamentals first. You should be able to carve at speed before going anywhere near the park. You go in early you're gonna have bad form and hurt yourself.

Hey Kevin, thanks for the video. It helps great for my landing. And I've one question about what if you have to land on heel edge, what should I do on that situation? I'm regular rider and got some issues landing on some walls.

@BimmerDudeXi

This is exactly where I'm at. Especially with variable snow conditions. I will start using land on the toes tip. Landing flat base on a rocker can get squirrely.
@chuck__van
@chuck__van Жыл бұрын
@@BimmerDudeXi yeah man softer snow means softer landings but that's not always what you are working with. At 39 I'm staying to notice rough landings alot more lol. I ride positive camber which makes locking an edge in easier but when you land a bit off it is not as forgiving for sure.

I’m still learning to ride park but one thing I don’t get is why do some rails seem like there’s a dangerous chance of missing the jump and catching your board, ie they don’t have a full snow ramp up to the front of the rail?
@braydenkromis2704
@braydenkromis2704 Жыл бұрын
Those are for more advanced riders. The goal is to be able to jump from the side of the jump onto the rail, and some riders will spin onto them and boardslide out or something.

Duck stance 15+ 15- ? And your jump = ollie? Or both foot up? Ollie is good for flath ground i think
@moserj13
@moserj13 Жыл бұрын
Duck stance is 15, 15, which is best for the park, IMO. Pop off of jumps, don't ollie. (using both feet together, it's more stable) Ollie on flat ground or onto rails.
