Thanks very much for all the videos you post Jonathan. I’ve learned what I consider some very valuable things that I have not heard elsewhere. As I do the drills you suggest along with consistent practice I am finally starting to feel that my swing is becoming more fluid and natural. I have tried hip sway, hip bump…whatever one wants to call it, with some success, but keeping my rotation centred along with letting my back and shoulders power and guide my arms are helping me gain club head speed and accuracy and feels more natural. I’m not yet getting the hang of starting weight shift before the top of the backswing. I see it and feel it in my mind so I’m hopeful that it’s just a matter of time before I get it. Once again, thank you!

What do you think about leaving pressure on the lead side, so you don’t have to worry about shifting, then pushing ?

That’s the “stack and tilt” method.

Any drills or anything to master this?

Classic load, transfer and block. The lower body is the power mechanism for me.

The old style golf swing like Mike Austin ,Jack Nicklaus hit the golf ball a country mile with the sway ,and by doing this old style golf swing they did not tear up their back like Tiger. As a kid from the 60 s I would swing like the old style ,it was natural body movement. Later in live I was told that the sway was not the way to hit a golf ball, I went the way of the model swing. I have recently gone back to old style golf swing do to knee injury ,(from model golf swing). The model golf swing I was hitting the ball at sea level 270 carry , at my age of 63 years young I was happy with that ,but it was hard on the body, since going back to the natural style old golf swing ,I am hitting the golf ball further, with no stress on my body. I think you should revisit the old style way .( THE SWAY IS NOT A BAD THING IN THE GOLF SWING IT CREATES EFFORTLESS POWER AND BODY FRIENDLY)

A golf swing is a very complicated movement but with the greatest respect, Jack Nicklaus did not sway. In fact his position at the top of his backswing is exactly what I describe in this video. Despite his lead heel being off the ground his head is over the ball and his hips have re-centred and are tilted towards the target. He has pressure on the balls of his lead foot and is primed to explode through the ball using both legs, this is how he generated so much club head speed.

Hello Jonathan. When a put weight on the lead foot as you said, it s seems to me like i can t turn, like stuck on my lead foot, any idea why it s happen ? Thank you.

You are probably over doing it slightly, but you will definitely have to work harder with your lead side to clear your lead hip in the downswing.
