This is mind blowing. Articulation is off the charts. I trust all your advice. As much as I have tried to have my thumb on the be pick like you,- I cant get it going like that- and trust me I have tried. Does it matter*? My y pick isn't going anywhere.

Mike, I started playing guitar 6 months ago. I think I developed a plethora of bad habits along the way, and I'm wondering if my technique is all wrong because of it. I've been trying to learn The Trooper by Iron Maiden, but I am making a ton of mistakes at 70%+ speed and the amount of tension I have from how fast some of the passages are is starting to really hurt. Do you think I may have pushed myself too quickly? I feel like I can't even hold the guitar right nor get my picking motion to be consistent (I'm always digging into strings, I have to use this weird Pykmax thing because my pick is constantly spinning). Do you have any advice? Your videos are ultra helpful and made me realize I probably should stop trying to just play faster when my accuracy sucks.

You should do playthrough performances of your songs off reflections, not tutorials (unless you want) but actual playthroughs, that would be awesome!
