If most are long-term holds (years and years of growth), where do we get the captial to get the short-term gains as well? Every bit of advice I get says to buy and hold and accumulate. But then people are out here living it up and quickly accumulating wealth. Where do we get these short-term trades? I feel like there's always a few pieces missing from my puzzle box.

When I’m retired I’m going to have in my 457 70% S&P 30% bond index, when there’s a pullback or correction, I’ll rebalance the bonds into the S&P. 26% S&P year? Sell high, back into bonds. DCA while I’m working though, 5% of investment capital is to play with stocks, crypto

They are essentially the same etf but vti is a bit safer because voo is more stocks in tech. If tech goes down then vti would be a little better. Cant go wrong either way.
