As someone who has struggled with OCD for years, I want to say thank you to this channel. This channel has helped me so much with dealing with OCD and influenced me to seek professional help. Always remember to sit in uncertainty and have faith in your exposures, not OCD! OCD may feel real but it IS NOT. Face your fears

I agree to a certain extent, but this can VERY quickly turn into obsessing over your body language and making calm poses and expressions AS a compulsion!! The best is to let the thought be, and not obsess over how to “respond”

Thank you Nathan, just one thing. I experience about a dozen similar challenges each day at the moment. Acceptance, non judgement, not giving them attention is what I'm aiming for. The one thing I must say is that wins, realisations and experiences with ERP need to go in the journal. This helps with going back to the drawing board when thing get difficult and remembering the successes.

Thanks! I intend to start adding purposeful body language to my Exposure Reaction Prevention! Also, what has helped me a lot: If I feel something that might be OCD coming on, I try to tell myself "Wait 3 days before acting on it, if it's a REAL problem, it'll still be relevant in three days!"

how do i know if im dealing with real event ocd or if im just still hung up on a past relationship? i have contamination ocd and i think ive tended towards real event in the past, so im wondering if thats why its taken me so long to move on from the end of a close friendship i had. i replay memories of our friendship constantly and think of how things could have gone differently. i have basically memorized the timeline of our friendship down to minute details. but is this ocd or just me struggling with the loss of a close friend???

What an excellent video Nathan. I love your lightheartedness which often has the ability to make me laugh. I cracked up at the I have to 'figure it out right now' part if your video and the way you conveyed that by video image! So true, and although it never feels funny when it happens, the signal of 'I have to figure it out RIGHT NOW' is a major way I'm learning to recognise my OCD. Keep up the humour! 😅

Hey, thankyou so much for these videos. I have only recently realised that what I'm doing in my anxiety moments is what people term intrusive thoughts and OCD, mine centres around health anxiety and when I'm low I can't stop reading, watching, listening to true crime cases and it becomes horribly horribly obsessive. I tried this tactic of thinking of it like a bully and it definitely helped a lot! I noticed how often the thoughts were coming up but each time seemed to have a bit less power. Thankyou so much!

What helped me with my anxiety and cod, was realizing that you newer know what something bad happening to you can cause later on, it may actually safe your life, or avoid even something worst from happening later. Whatever you do in your life affects the time frame of the next events, which may safe your life because of being in different place in a different time. Anything that happens as well changes your circumstances ( for instance having less money) which will cause you to make different decisions, which then may safe your life or avoid some other possible undesirable event. So you can’t newer know if something that you are trying to avoid or prevent from happening wouldn’t safe your life or be beneficial to you in different way in the future. And same way the desirable event happening, can cause catastrophe later on. When fully comprehended , this can stop the constant tortures thinking, about what you don’t want to happen, or want to happen, or what you don’t want to forget etc. Good luck everybody 🍀

Like many mental health problems, OCD is a product of brain chemical inbalance (metabolism). Instead throwing trillions on weapons governments should put at least 10% of that into food and mental health studies and many problems, if not all, would be gone. But it's obvious that real human health, long and happy human life isn't in their interest.
