It saved me over $100 dollars in oil on the TYM 2515 tractor. Probably half that much on the T474. I don't know how it wouldn't pay for itself. I am not easily impressed, but this worked very well. God Bless my friend.

​@TonysTractorAdventure the military did extensive testing in its vehicles and came to the conclusion that oil rarely went bad, oil filters were normally all that needed to be changed. They also test the oil looking for metals and can often diagnose engine problems from that. Spend money on a good filter and use the same oil to top it off and you will save money, time, and resources ( environment).

It should pay for itself in the first year depending on how many tractors a person has. It cost over $100 in oil just to change the oil in the 2515 transmission.

Should have used the rubber grommet on the second change because it has a lot more flex to create a better seal around the inlet fill threads than just the hard plastic spout. Also, the grommet will prevent any other outside debris getting into the oil because of the vacuum being created. It worked without it but would have worked better with the grommet.

The rubber grommet was too big to go in the hole. I thought it worked really good.

Would this replace the 500 hour fluid change where I just change the filter and top off the fluid, or would I still need to change the fluid at that time? Also, what about the internal screen on the 474 or the T-25? Can you use this and change that out without wasting the fluid?

If it calls for you to replace the oil at 500 hours then I would absolutely replace the oil. Mini tractors only require a filter change at 250 hours. Without this vacuum system, the oil would just drain out the bottom anyway. For me, I always perform maintenance a little above required. I changed my engine oil and filter every spring regardless if it's due or not. Now I can change the hydraulic filters every spring even when it's not due.

regular price for vac trac 184.95, I wonder would tractor company void warranty if done this at service times, I know my dealer want allow to run red diesel I have a Branson/ TYM. Like what i saw though.

I don't think I conveyed my point as well as I could have. I am not saying go over the hour limit for the recommended oil change of the transmission. There are many tractors that require the filters to be changed at 250 hours, but the oil is not required to be changed until 500 hours. Myself, I will change my filters once each year above and beyond what is required. I will still change my transmission oil at the required intervals.

It may be hundreds of dollars to replace the fluid, but its thousands to repair a tractor due to dirty or failed fluid. Seems penny wise and pound foolish not to go ahead and change the fluid with the filter as the owners manual recommends. Keeps your hydraulic system cleaner as a filter does not totally clean the fluid.

My manufacturer states to change the filters every 200 hours and oil & filters every 400 hours. That is the purpose of this procedure.

@@davidmays2161 Thats different, mine says both every 300 hours after the first 50 change. Sounds perfect for what is required for yours. Interesting how different manufacturers would have different requirements for simple fluid/filter change.

Now that I have this, I will just change my hydraulic filters every spring, regardless of when the oil is actually due to be changed. When the oil reaches its 500 hour limit, I will change the oil and the filter. Filters are cheap, so putting a fresh filter on once a year seems like a low-cost way of making my tractor last. I think we're in agreement on doing good maintenance, but I plan on being a little more in-depth than even you.
