I'm a dismissive avoidant attachment style and I heard somewhere that that attachment style is prone to "the one that got away" syndrome, but the relationship was probably nothing that noteworthy and the person wasn't even that great, but we just use it as an excuse to not commit or get attached to anyone else going forward. and I felt called out. I def did that for a bit, but then checked up on the person and immediately got the ick and realized the person in my head and the real person (past, present, and future) were worlds apart.
