Thanks for the review. I currently use some cheap ND and CPL filters, only because I was not sure I would use them. I have been looking at the VND filter, but I am not convinced they are the way to go. Have you ever used a VND filter, and if yes, what were your thoughts? Keep up the great videos. Cheers.

Interesting info. I’ve used Haida filters for many years! Great products and value! Thanks!

I agree with you Sarah, filters are a must in a photographers bag. Especially for landscapes and long exposures. By the way, love the pillow with the cameras.

Filter user here, despite owning a Z7. People will say they are not needed, but i use a 3/6/10/16 stop ND filters, polariser, and i still use 0.6/0.9 soft and hard grads along with a reverse grad. 🙂

A 16 stop would be sooooo intense!! I’ve never tried. And yes, some cameras make it so we no longer need filters. I’m not there yet 😂

@@sarahlyndsay It is really good, it makes midday photography easier. Although even in bright conditions it can still be too much. One day last week it would have resulted in a 1hour 10 minute exposure. If you ever move to mirrorless, the one advantage they have is they can meter through the 6 stop ND filters and sometimes the 10 stop too. 🙂

Interesting, this Black mist, I wonder how it does shooting Sunsets, I sometimes get a blueish green spot, i end up erase it?

I am so pumped about this filter!!! I’m going to use it for my portraits first and then I’m going to test it out on some scapes!!

How well does the filters stay on? And do you have different sizes or do you just have one for your primary lens? Thanks.
@sarahlyndsay Жыл бұрын
They stay on great!! I am actually a person who leaves on the filters and then puts the lens cap over it. I've had no issues with them falling off. :)

Why did you not mention the 3-stop ND filter also? Checking online, the Haida kit also includes the 3-stop ND. As far as the black mist filter goes, it seems to be a fairly mild softening or diffusing filter similar to what we used way back in film days. It was popular to use a make-shift mist filter by wrapping a black or brown nylon stocking stretched over the lens, and held in place with a rubber band. Often times one would/could poke a hole in the middle. IMHO, by using the filter on-camera, you are stuck with the results. If done in post, you have the option of applying the effect, or not, plus how strong said effect will be. I always enjoy the images you post at the end of your videos. I love your processing.

I don’t ever use a 3 stop. Over the years I’ve found the perfect 3 filters for my kit and Haida customized it exactly how I needed it!! My aim was to explain what I use… I didn’t even scratch the surface of graduates filters 😂 The mist black filter is super neat!! The effect it causes is so so subtle. I’d actually love one that is more intense and definitely for filmmaking I will enjoy it. It also smoothed out wrinkles. Perfect 😂

Can confirm filters are amazing! I have been using them for years and years!

The only filters I use are polarizers and neutral density filters. I almost always have a polarizer on a lens. I've used polarizers for so long that if I didn't have a polarizer on a lens, I would probably look around to see where my polarizing filter fell off, which actually did happen to me in Grand Teton National Park. Hope someone found it who got a lot of use out of it. I don't use ND filters as often and, as you mentioned, they can have a strong color cast. Hope you got out and got some great Fall shots. Leaves are just starting to turn here where I live. Time for me to get out and get some shots too. 🤗

I don't use filters often, but I do get annoyed if I don't remember to pack an ND filter and run across a situation that could use one.

Any time you can reduce editing time, it is a good thing. Funny, as you were talking about filters, the thought/question popped into my old brain. Do you use mist filters? UMM, the next thing you brought up was the black mist filter. I've wanted the whole set of them for my 16-35. I have 0 filters for that lens. I have another question but I will dm you with that. No funny business today, ma lady, all business. I typically use NiSi, but seeing I don't have any for my 16-35, I may try Haida. It's prime day😊 and I am primed. I'm 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 to win so I can play in the mist!!❤
