If I wore my hair in braids, I could see how spf in your scalp might be necessary. I mostly wear my hair in a bun, so I don’t think I need it. Nice to know it’s available though.

Everybody is different I'm not going to preach to everybody I'm speaking from my experience. I am black American. I am 44 and have been living in the sunshine state Florida all of my life. I never use sunscreen and I purposely seek the sun to Sun gaze and Sun bath. I am not extremely dark either I'm about this lady in the video complexion maybe a tad bit lighter and I never burn. The sun gives me extreme mental Clarity when I come back inside and the rest of the day my endorphins are through the roof🎉

thing is even if my scalp was exposed like that I would be worried about the build up on my scalp cause I wash my face every night but wash my scalp once a week/fortnight TBH i'm not concerned about spf my scalp.... I'm too practical, frugal and lazy

Thank you for making this video!! I've been looking into scalp/hair sunscreen lately. Especially since I color my hair a lot and i want something that will slow color fade but doesn't contain alcohol that will dry my hair (4c texture)

Haha I think it wouldn’t hurt to use one especially since you’ll be out hiking-you can use your regular sunscreen as long as it doesn’t cause any issues with your hair. The scarf won’t provide a ton of sun protection.

Sunbum is extremely popular in Utah. As soon as I started realizing that I had a sunscreen allergy everyone recommended them but their mineral sunscreens just aren't quite as "cosmetically elegant" as some other brands. I will also add that all my friends who are obsessed with Sunbum use the chemical sunscreens and as soon as I started bringing the mineral options around, hated the white cast of their mineral sunscreens too (and most of them are white) so it's not just me. I do like their price point and that they're readily available in a lot of places. If they had better mineral options, I would be a regular buyer for sure.

Personally I wear a hat most days to help protect my face and I suppose that also helps protect my scalp. I also happen to have pretty thick curly hair and I never do braids, so I guess I have never really considered much to protect my scalp from the sun. My sister got cornrows once when we were on the track team together, her scalp was so white, she was definitely putting sunscreen on her scalp! I know in Utah, plenty of people do get sun burned on their scalp and I do know people that buy the Supergoop Poof product but now that I see how light it is, I don't know how that would work in my hair because it's pretty dark. I also know some men with sparse scalps who wear a lot of sunscreen on their scalps but they usually use body sunscreen for that.

Hey… Can I prevent skin cancer on my scalp as a girl with thin hair who is most of the time indoors??? Also even though my hair is thin I have a loooooot of hair (I guess it is my Mediterranean heritage) so is that a plus?? Or do I rly need it indoors??

Yes to protect your hair from thermal heat styling, but it’s not going to protect your scalp (which is skin) from the sun.
