"I get it. You think the word "retreat" implies defeat." I'm sorry, but that's exactly how I feel about this. It sounds like giving the world implicit permission to burn fossil fuel like crazy and just trying to manage the aftermath. Picking winners and losers in the future. But then I don't live in Fiji or Bangladesh. Managed retreat is certainly a wise strategy for people who live in the places that climate change will effect most adversely and quickly.

The globe could manage 2 billions people without problem. We are over 8 billion and increasing. Now new virus yesterday, climate change today, tomorrow food shortage...etc. We can't solve these issue if we not manage the root cause, which is overpopulation. BTW global CO2 footprint increasing even though Europe an US decreased a lot. While China and India increased their CO2 footprint exponentially. we can stay home and eat dirt... it will not help.

The ENTIRE Solar System is warmer these days because around 30 years ago Our Sun began kicking out more heat.
