Okay, don’t even get me started. I’m playing through Final Fantasy 7 OG for the first time and it’s fun, interesting, and still has a great story… but it NEEDS remasters all over itself. First of all, when ported the game is sluggish and runs very slow. I started my FF journey with the FF 1&2 Dawn of Souls remaster for GBA. A game released in 2004. Only 8 years after FF7 graced our screens. Then I played the FFs 3-6 Pixel Remasters. Why does it feel like FF7 lacks a lot of the fun Quality of Life adjustments it could have received by now? Is it because of FF7 Remake? Small things that don’t even require that heavy of changes. Accessories are not available to be purchased much at all in the beginning town of Midgar. By the time I left Midgar, I forgot they were even a thing. You also only have one Accessory slot, which means your ability to add a lot of safety to your team is hampered a lot. When it comes to the Chocobo Greens, you are given a type of expensive Greens at the start that is for Chocobo breeding which doesn’t happen until MUCH later in the game. Why have it here so early when other Chocobo Greens are hidden until later? I’ll attest to the fact I was one of the ignorant people that bought a bunch of them, spending all of my Gil and came out of it with no Chocobos until I had to look up a walkthrough later. I like that FF7 has a mini-map in general, but now that the FF 1-6 Pixel Remasters went above and beyond with this feature, I’d like to see this given to FF7 as well in a remaster. Certain sections of the towns are hard to see and walk around. We live in a day and age where cameras can move in fixed positions to allow for better visibility in games. Some notable locations that caused issues were walking up the stairs at Cosmo Canyon, and walking around a lot of Wutai. You don’t have to go crazy with the camera movements, but make it at least clear where stairs are, what objects are in certain areas, etc. I can only imagine how much easier it would be doing the dolphin activity with a camera angle really helping show where you are intended to aim for. When it comes to mini-games, FF7 introduced a ton. FF6 added a lot of fun activities to do other than just battling, and FF7 delivered more-so than I could have ever imagined. However, that snowboarding mini-game has awful controls and really needs to be adjusted. I’m not sure why the motorcycle and Chocobo racing mini-games only required you to use the analog stick, but this game requires you to turn by pressing an extra button (in the PS case, its R1 or R2 I think). When it comes to getting the ultimate versions of each character’s weapon or limit burst, please don’t make getting Cloud’s so annoying. Tifa’s only requires opening a chest. Barret’s requires opening a chest. Cloud’s however requires you beating Weapon. But, you don’t just beat him… no, you have to beat him while he runs away and literally flies around the map. You can barely see that far in front of you, and you have no tracker set on the dumb beast. So now you spend probably 30 minutes flying around just trying to bump into him a bunch of times just to get him to stop so you can try a fight. Do you want Cloud’s best limit burst. Well, head back to the Golden Saucer and just win 36000 BP from a specific event. Don’t mind the fact you need to be high leveled, have good RNG, and more than likely want Cloud’s best weapon. Oh, and you are going to want a lot of points saved up, because each batch of 8 rounds only gives you around 6000 to 10000 points on average, if you make it that far. And do understand, if you leave the Battle Arena area, all points are set back to 0, thus restarting everything all over… There are even more things I can go into. Such as how the river you use for the Tiny Bronco should be colored the same as the other areas you can traverse with the Tiny Bronco. It should be mentioned WHERE the Temple of the Ancients is on the map, because you can get lost on where to go next. (I went to Wutai thinking that was where I was supposed to go next. And, I’m not entirely sure it was even mentioned to go to the Temple of the Ancients OR to go to some guy in an old shack and find a “key” he might have.) Then, after that, it’s never mentioned again WHERE Aerith even went. If it weren’t for walkthroughs, I might have went to every single town again before I thought to go up North and find the Forgotten Lands. I didn’t have any issues with knowing where to go after this, but man was that not made clear at all… And lastly, the overall graphic style is nice, but even FF8 got a graphics update by this point. And we know that they have models for the OG FF7 cast because of the Golden Saucer battle mini-game in FF7 Rebirth. They have the models, they could be working on it for all we know, but man does FF7 need some work. I’m not even finished with the game yet, and this is mostly what I’ve found so far…

As long as the instant Game Over if your party leader dies is removed and they also remove the constant level cap I'm down for it. But if it's just the same game I'll just stick to the version I already got.

I agree except for the level cap. It made the game decently challenging while forcing you to engage with the paradigm system to be successful. Overleveling would just ruin that tbh. That's ofcourse we're assuming that the remasters would even play anything like the og trilogy...

I know I seem like a crazy fanatic at this point, but we really need a content creator to take point and host some discussion on this topic. FF13 deserves to be handled with the utmost respect and care. It is easily the most ambitious title they've ever attempted, and it's my belief that given enough time they could have given us one of the greatest video games ever released, with that title.

What I would change in a Remaster: 1 - Paradigm Shift from XIII be updated to be like XIII-2 -> INSTANTANEOUS. I hate dying because of that. 2 - Toggling battles off would be cool, but the game actually have an item that allows you to skip battles, the problem is: It's limited, there's no way to craft it OR to buy it. And I think you only get FIVE the whole game. 3 - A DASH button. I hate the light jog. LEMME DASH. 4 - Better UI overall, minimap is awful. 5 - Better UI for battle, it's annoying to find stuff when you need it. Add a feature that slow time when manually selecting your skills, that would help. 6 - Leader swap if he dies. Essentially bring most features from XIII-2 back to XIII. In XIII-2 I would only ask for the DASH feature, and maybe some improvements graphically. LR however: A full overhaul on graphics. Take all unfinished graphics, every single TRIANGLE TREE with PS1 textures and fix them. The world is dying but holy hell it should LOOK like it's a real place, not a fucking bad knock off of Digital Circus XD And balance the final Battle against Bhunevelze, because that battle is clearly balanced for you to have only Elixirs on it, and the feature that would give elixirs easily, (the online features of PS3), were disabled OR simply removed from PC altogether. So yeah balancing is key, LR is the one with the best system, XIII-2 is the one with the best minigames and stuff to do, and XIII is the most beautiful one. Either way, I do think the last game would clearly need a fully remake at this point. Only pushing it to 4K won't fix the problems there. The problem is: I'm sure if Square does it, they will force the game to have RTX and stuff like that, and sadly this means pushing 40% of the PC market away from the game, which is sad, but they are lazy. So eh, one can hope but I personally am not super hopeful either. We've been talking and asking for a XIII remaster more and more every year and nothing so far.

I tried the paradigm shift fix with a mod on pc that skips the animation and plays like XIII-2 and yes! They should totally remove that animation. It plays so smooth. That should be a QoL added to XIII for sure. I'm also certain a remaster would remove the casino to comply with new laws on depiction of gambling so this is probably for the best that it hasn't happened

Lightning is honestly my favourite FF girl. Or maybe tied with Tifa. I grew up with VII but when XIII dropped I couldn’t take my teenage eyes off her she was my desktop wallpaper for years 😂😂 I would love a remaster for PS5, I know XIII got a lot of hate back in the day but I loved it, loved the levelling system and combat too. Much better than the attack button mashing simulator FFXVI (although the music in that game is stellar)

Agree 100 %. FF XVI was a good game but too much button smashing. For me I thing Crisis Core/ FF7 Remake are my favourites. But FF XIII after that.

It was such a disappointment though, the "open world" was the worst in any FF game, the side quests were extremely boring, the levelling and gear system was as deep as a puddle and I found the story a bit tedious and predictable. I had to literally force myself to finish the game from about halfway through it was so painful, I only did it because I bought it at full price 😂 although other than that stuff I moaned about the music and voice acting was good, especially Cid, that guys voice is so incredible haha

A chapter select with hard mode at the end with everything unlocked like VII REMAKE would me enough, and a way to include some replayability, minigames in Nautilus and maybe some new Cie'th stones leading to superbosses without redesigning the game. Maybe I'm being too negative but I think if we ever get this remaster it'll be a graphical upgrade with 13-2 QoL features but that's it. We can still dream however lmaoo. I don't know how they could address the linearity in a simple remaster though.

As someone who has thousands of hours invested into this game, I would like for a remake. Something along the lines of final Fantasy 7R. The art direction story elements and plot devices are amazing in final Fantasy 13, square hit it out of the park. New game + would solve 90% of the gameplay loop issues off the hop. Only other things important to change are some early game pacing, more side content, Jihl Nabat, and a few other mishandled story elements or characters. Please don't touch the combat. Only add to it. The combat is the single best thing that final Fantasy 13 brought to the table. We want more hunt missions more challenges more Uber bosses more characters to balance our parties with and strategize with more weapons more gil more farming opportunities. Just everything you gave us in 13 but better more polished and more of it.

No. Not unless “remaster” in this case means a complete rewrite of the entire story, replacement of all the characters, a proper turn based battle system and a completely different world setting with completely new approaches to exploration. If they do that it could be quite good.

The sense of scale needs to be improved in XIII-2 and LR. One of the best things in the original game was how the buildings and large objects made you feel immersed in the world, as if you truly understood the grandeur and significance of your surroundings. I guess due to how both games were more open areas compared to the first and hardware limitation it wasn't possible. Other than that give me an all in one game trilogy or at least a hub that you can choose which games you want to download not that BS like Arkham Trilogy.

The entire trilogy is backwards compatible on xbox, and visually the games are still great despite how old they are. At most they just need to port them to the switch and ps4/5 and maybe do a few gameplay and skill progression tweaks. They're not unplayable, just unavailable to a lot of people.

There is so many QoL changes they could do.. Game over on party leader death. Speeding up the time it takes to use Paradigm Shift. Maybe unlock the camera or at least improve it. Give more gil when you defeat stuff. Speed up battle

I don't really care for a remaster, it's one of those games that aged really well from a technological POV. But a remake that actually adds something to do besides just walk forward + combat, that would be better. My problem with FF13 was always that it just lacks stuff to do. It's not the linearity by itself that's the problem, it's the linearity with no variety in gameplay. That's fine for a short game, but not for a 50 hour JRPG.

squre tends to add minor updates like fast foward and such in it's remasters vs other companies. that being said. some things from 13 2. a hard mode would be interesting a chapter select , a transfer between characters, gil drops the DLC ark put in to it's fullest. ( maybe upgraded) change between languages and outfits from 13 2 and lightning returns. for 13 2 control the monsters you tame. again outfits from 13 and lightning returns and tackle the DLC sections early. if wanted. for lightning returns after beating the game perma guest characters slow down the timer even on fast forward mode. speed up the timer if wanted. rest to a set time vs every 12 hours. ( so much missed contend that way.) a map of quests you completed post game replay.

this needs a reboot, not a remaster Squenix knows how to make character action games. The first teaser of FF13 was a solo Lightning action game (with admittedly some atb). Now we know that was bullshot trailer but they did revisit the concept in Lightning Returns. A FF13 reboot featuring combat systems like FF16 or 7R series solely as a Lightning solo game would absolutely worked. PROVIDED HOWEVER: 1. Tighten the pacing of the game so it doesnt plod like 13 was. You shouldnt need to have to wait 8 chapters to get to “the good part” (and i LOVED 13). 2. whatever the direction the plot takes for its 13-2 and 13-3 if it comes to that shouldnt be as batshit as 13-2 and LR was. this is however very Your Mileage May Vary. 3. Finally, don’t let Toriyama direct this game. Just tell him this is going to his 3-d printed lifesize Lightning love doll for him or something. Give him a responsibility that does not involve him going on a stage with a bouquet of roses to promote the game.

if they did FFXIII remastered, i'd love to see a chapter select and hardmode feature, ala what they did with FF7 Remake/Rebirth. that would allow us to visit the areas in earlier chapters and enjoy more of the beautiful world they built. more ways to obtain rare items, better ways to farm CP and Gil. even better, they could create additional mini-objectives within the hard mode so that gameplay isn't linear there anymore. oh also, get rid of the stupid treasure hunter trophy. maybe do a 100% bestiary instead.

I've always played FF games, since the first one NES, but XIII was the very first one I actually completed the main scenario of, super nostalgic for this game, but it 100% does not need a remaster, the game is still gorgeous, "ported", or not.

A remaster isn’t entirely necessary. It would be nice, but it wouldn’t be necessary. What it does need is a remake. A lot of the story, due to the constraints of the engine, is trapped in the data logs. I mean, they could have more expansion of the story by including more of the stuff in the data logs into the game itself, so that it’s not a balancing act where you’re leaving gameplay or cutscenes to read something to get more story and more context for the story. Also, being remade with an entirely new engine would help with the linearity of the environment in a lot of the trilogy. Even they keep the same story, beat for beat, a remake of the trilogy in a new engine would expand the world in every way and allow for both more narrative and environmental storytelling rather than relying as heavily on story being told in the data log menus. Because it is a great story and world. It would just be better if we can actually experience more of it, which is a pitfall of its engine.

I'd be happy with a pretty basic 60 fps port to PS5. New features would be good of course, but I'd rather have something rather than nothing if SE isn't interested in making more substantial changes. It annoys me a bit when people say it's unnecessary because you can play it on PC and Xbox. Well I don't have an Xbox, and I only own a basic laptop which I don't really want to plug into my TV to play games. PS5 is one of the major platforms and it's not available there, so I don't think it's unreasonable to want a version that can be played on a PS5. And a Switch port would be nice too.

I'm not a big fan of the XIII trilogy, but I think it would need to be because it's the only single player game that hasn't received a remaster so far.

I was literally playing the first 13 game on steam and i was having all kinds of glitches. Characters midair, t posing everywhere and not attacking but moving, and all kinds of nonsense every since i upgraded my pc lol. Its very rough on pc. The whole trilogy runs terribly on pc and ive 100% all of them on pc

Considering SE is so cheap that they didn't add much to Fantasian, which would've been a lot easier to make such changes to, I don't have high hopes they'd do anything you suggest in this video. And that's before getting into whether or not some of your suggestions are even good or feasible.

Some of you really REACH HARD with the takes. Yes, Square Enix would really give the same budget and care to a Fantasian re-release as their flagship series Final Fantasy.

@@donemu9096 They clearly got enough from SE for an all-star Japanese voice cast, so it's not a stretch to assume they could also have gotten enough to update the game in other ways were SE willing to fund such changes. And I said that Fantasian being easier to implement changes in yet getting nothing aside from voice acting and the new difficulty is what makes me skeptical they'd make the kind of changes suggested in the video, which doesn't imply I believe it would get the same treatment as a numbered Final Fantasy game. Try actually reading and thinking for once, shitwit.

I want either a remaster or for them to fix the steam/pc version. I know mods exist but i shouldnt have to do that for a game i bought that is run by a multimillion dollar company. Surely, they can spare a programmer or two to properly port the trilogy properly?

Yeah I would appreciate a version 2.0 of the PC versions. Even MGS3 has wayyyy higher system requirements now. Core i5-7500, 8GB ram, and GTX 970.

I would like to see a remaster but i thought this would run properly on ps4. I‘m surprised the ps3 was able to run this at all. I would still much rather like a Remake of ff8 with all the stuff which was originaly planned for Laguna.

Yes we do. Imo FF13 is the best FF game, love it, FF13-2 is also okay and lightning returns was actually cool they made as we fans asked for it. Lightning and her sister are my favorite FF characters 😍 Would like more open world areas, maybe new areas with more storie thrown in but for the god of love keep the turn based combat, my fingers still hurt from FFXVI.

For sure they'd remove the casino dlc in a new release of this game. Due to laws in certain countries. Been playing modded versions of these games and I enjoy it so much but on consoles these games are nowhere to be seen. I guess I'f only play a remaster if it adds completely new content otherwise this id only relevant to console owners. If they add back the cut content from XIII and make it so you don't lose if the party leader is defeated in XIII then hell yeah! Sell me these games a third time. I'll buy em.

It has a lot of pitfalls (linearity in 1, story telling and pacing in all of them), but it has an amazing OST, story depth, and combat is so damn good once you get full control of it!

I play it for the OST and it was my first final fantasy despite being aware of the series for decades. But it wasn't the best introduction it just helped it a bunch being the first makes me biased to like it more than the norm. Was playing XIII-2 as I found this video.
