I went to University 13 years and have no degrees. I dropped out after studying pretty much everything, from Engineering to ecology to philosophy, and left short of finishing a fine art degree. I just couldn't bring myself to spend one more hour on the program... I've spent the last 16 years now, unlearning all the lies that I foolishly paid to learn. But I am happy.

Save money, buy land and start a farm. Live in your own peaceful world my friend. Doesn't matter what others may say, most of the people are blind and dead on the inside. If you live in the city, you should make your escape plan because urban environment is about to get very ugly, violence is soon going to increase tremendously and many people will lose their natural feeling of empathy. Matthew 13: 44. Jesus said... "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. I hope you get the point 🙂 Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.

The rulers of this planet didn't had university. I'm from the Caribbean and live in the Netherlands and in the years of studying by just taking courses I achieve much more and made much more money than the multitude of University graduates. Coming to the Netherlands as a technical graduate many of my friends where at University level studying for years, one of my friends always tell me I should go to university cause he fines I have the brain for it. I just told him thanks for the compliment. For me being as we say in the Caribbean being a jack of all trades and a master of a few is a better foundation in life than just University. Look at all the University graduates in India and Africa begs on the streets Basic education is very important, but when it comes to specialising yourself I termly advise taking several courses. And have much more all-round knowledge of life. Due to this I have a technical company for 30 years. I was married to a African woman that graduated from masters in accounting university level and was not able to work a find a job. Even after bringing her to the Netherlands it toke her years before she could of find work, most of such have do cleaning job to gain a profit , never in their field of education.

Yes, I agree that we do not need to go to university to achieve financial success. I have never went to it, but I do not discourage people to go. Here's my view if anyone else is interested: The reason why more senior people believe that - If I send my kid to university, he will get a degree and can get a good job and be successful - is because in the past, there is no existence of internet technology. You would need to go somewhere to learn something, be it a library, a company or a school , which in this case was the university. University provided a structure and platform for students to learn technical skills , a lot of it, such that they can secure a better job because they would have more expertise in many of the company functions compared to their peers who do not have a degree. However, times have changed, now, university is no longer a necessity. This is thanks to the development of technology that allows people to learn pretty much anything for cheap or free. However, thanks to this old mindset from the old times, university students who still carry this mindset with them (may've been inherited from their parents) will not do well in life. This is because, they believe that it's the "paper" that they are after in university. They failed to see other benefits that university could offer them. For example - use of expensive equipment (provided inside the university) for learning, use of facilities, a more forgiving environment where they can make as much mistakes as they want without much serious consequences, relationship building opportunities where they can form business partners or future lifetime friendship, develop leadership skills through school projects and clubs, as well as overseas opportunities where they can get to learn ideas from other countries that they can bring back with them. These opportunities may not be readily or easily attainable outside of university if you are not a resourceful person yourself. Unfortunately, the reason why people don't do well after graduating university, is because they were being a passive student throughout their university life. They try to do as less as possible, and just want to be spoon fed by the university. This becomes a habit over 4 years. Moreover, they have no financial obligations to worry about in their 4 years. That's why after they graduate, they feel lost, because all these while, they had not really "grown up" during university days. So they struggle to find a job. If you're thinking whether or not to go to university, I'd suggest that if you can financially afford it, you should. However, you need to be a very active student in university. Try and take on more responsibilities, as well as opportunities offered during your course of study. You should already have an idea what you want to work as half way through your university years. Or before you enrol would even be better. Do not wait till you graduate to think of a career. The success stories highlighted by Jon in this video, is very similar to how many other people's stories about universities drop-outs and people who succeeded without going to one. But remember, everybody's path is different. The similarity between these success stories are that all these people have a hunger, a hunger to pursue something they love and go in-depth. The unfortunate truth is that, not many people are very hungry out there. They just wake up every day, sit on their couch, lie on their bed and scroll through social media, and they have day dreams every single day. If you happen to be such a person, you might actually be happy to have a degree, because that piece of paper, can atleast help you scrape through to having a job, even though, a very low paying one. Speaking of jobs, another reason why it seems that university students have a hard time finding a job, is usually because they reject the idea of taking a job that pays lower than a "degree pay". Hence, can't find a job. You can always take on a low paying job, and quickly work your way up to a degree paying one, it's a matter of whether or not you want to do it. But I think most degree holders will be too embarrassed to take on such jobs because they don't want others to "look down" on them> At the end of the day, the conclusion here is, to be successful, you just need to be able to add value. If you want to be rich, then you need to KNOW and BE GOOD AT adding value. If you want to be rich rich, then you need to KNOW and BE GOOD AT adding value value. If you want to be rich rich rich, then you ... adding value value value Rich rich rich rich, ... value value value value The reason why people can still succeed without going to university and having no degree, is because they are very good at adding value to other people's life. Take for example, the motorcycle repair shop Jon mentioned in this video. He was able to add value to people by repairing their bicycles and motorcycles. While adding value, he remains kind & honest, and giving the best possible service to his customers. This increases his value as a repairman, so customers recommend other customers to him. Since he sounds hungry, he may have develop new ways to repair the motorcycles faster, which helps further increase the value he is giving his customers. So when he becomes famous, people & businesses starts going to him, and offering him other opportunities that he will never have had, if he hasn't be adding value to other people's life all these years. This is why, successful people become even more successful. I.e. the richer gets richer. The choice is yours. If you feel very unmotivated as a person, and have no hobbies or things you are passionate about, you might be better off going to university.
@Livefreeman4 жыл бұрын
wrong advice son. going to university will make you more poorer in terms of hobbies and skill than before you started university. if you are unmotivated, university is more harmful to you than being a motivated person because you are likely to be unmotivated after you graduate and unmotivated to even find a job, and you will be debt for the rest of your life. if you are unmotivated person, university should not be on your to do list but rather you should be volunteering and working for different companies that don't require degree so you will learn what motivates you and then you can succeed in life. university will not teach how to be motivated but rather requires people to be slaves and lose motivations in things
@ldo24574 жыл бұрын
@@Livefreeman Thanks for your views. I'm sorry if I've given the impression that university teaches one to be motivated. That was not what I meant. What I mean is, if you are unmotivated, it is very unlikely that you can survive in any kind of job. Unmotivated people are probably the first few to get fired from their jobs. Unmotivated people are won't even think about the word volunteering and being proactive about finding jobs. This is where university is a place that can spoon feed unmotivated people in terms of the curriculum & opportunities, and the social circle found in universities, hopefully can provide good peer support to motivate that person. This is in contrast to the social circle you find in workplaces, where there are lots of competition and workplace politics (depending on where you are working at). If you are unmotivated, and need to get into debt to go to university, then you better not go to one. I'm referring to people who can afford to go to university.

Electrical engineers are suppose to make electrical repairs? You know what engineering for? Repairs are for technicians! Technicians knows, say a computer chips, it connected in a specific spot, and engineers know WHY it is there. Engineering is the application of science and math to solve problems. Engineers figure out how things work and find practical uses for scientific discoveries.
