You did a very fine job of letting the viewer know a real truth: you don't have to niche down. While I'm basically a travel and events vlog, the weather can keep me housebound, so I talk about other things. And the comments you and I have traded have reenforced that. Thanks so much. It's appreciated.

Thank you, I really believe in this message and I think we approach art from a weird angle these days, everyone is so obsessed with monetizing their channels and content instead of tapping into their true creativity in fear of the algorithm. Great art ALWAYS finds a way.

Love the color grading on the video, matches very well with the overall theme. I agree with your message and I believe that it's very unfortunate that in the era of social media that it's truly difficult to be recognized for all somebody has to offer. Usually you have to pick one thing and make that your everything.

Thank you, it’s a message I feel really deeply about, I think if more and more creators push against the grain of adhering to having a niche specific channel then the better off KZbin will be! I think it will also cause more and more creative to think outside the box, which is always a good thing

DUDE. Great video. That book by Bad Religion is one of my favorites. Do What You Want is also what I try to remember when it comes to creating content. Now I try to just create the stuff that I would want to see. Great stuff here.

Thank you, Bad Religion is one of my favorite bands too! I think if more people just paid more attention to their creativity side and less to the “I’ve got to make this a business side” I think less people would burn out and quit. I think as KZbin is slowly shifting away from the spectacle era of content (Mr.beast) where videos feel like a game show and shifting back to creator focused content now is the time for creators to make those passion projects or inject their personalities into their channels!

Good to see this. I just started a channel everybody telling me to niche but I like to be versatile so I decided to just do what I do. I think as long as you keep consistently delivering quality then niche doesn’t matter

Truuueeee , it took me years to get it and just go natural and do whatever I want on KZbin , I have an other big channel 100k subs where I was niching down and honestly I was not happy , I was sad when creating videos for that channel , so I took a brave decision and started a new channel where I do whatever I want , and I can say now I’m really happy . Thanks for sharing this message

Thank you and that has always been my fear…where I would paint myself into a corner not be able to express myself creatively. I think building a business on KZbin isn’t that hard if you pay attention to what people like and make videos that are on trend BUT building a business on KZbin based around true creativity and what you like is a lot harder but definitely will be a lot more rewarding. I ho[w you hang around for future stuff, this new breath into my channel is just getting started!

This video is spot on! This is exactly my new approach for my own channel! I look forward to seeing what all you do with this channel outside your "niche". It's time for creators to start making videos for them and not the algorithm! Over the years of me watching primarily travel vloggers, vloggers grow to a point where they have to keep outdoing themselves and competitors by doing bigger and better things. By doing this they lose my interest because that isn't what got me to watch them in the first place and I eventually quit watching their content. Maybe it's just me but I don't need an over the top travel vlog to keep me entertained. I just want an ordinary person picking up a camera and taking me along with them.
@Drewxcifer
@Drewxcifer 11 ай бұрын
So I couldn’t agree more with you, I absolutely love travel content and the funny thing is that you described exactly how I feel about it too. I want to see ordinary vloggers and travelers out there documenting their journeys. There was a time when Sam Kolder and Lost Leblanc were what I wanted to see but now I’d rather watch channels like small brained American or mate in Japan ( a very new channel that I found )and channels like that!

@Drewxcifer Funny you mentioned Lost LeBlanc. He is one of the channels I was referring to. I miss his old Thailand vlogs where he just went around with a gopro. Now it's over produced and I just can't watch it

I think it says a lot that the second half of that quote has been sort of collectively lost: "A jack of all trades is a master of none...but often times better than a master of one." It totally shits on the idea of specialising in one area. What are most people in their careers? Specialists. Spending so many hours doing one thing every day. The capitalist machine needs specialists. As an aspiring artist, thank you so much for this video, I needed the pep talk 🙏
@Drewxcifer

I have actually NEVER heard the full quote! I think the term I prefer is Polymath, I never really knew what that meant until recently and I like it, I think being well travelled and having knowledge in many areas is something we all should aspire to do and be. Thanks for watching, I hope you hang around for future content!

Love the message! This is the authentic delivery that i think new audiences crave. “You are your brand.” I agree! This makes me consider what capitalism looks like in the coming decades. If we are ever-changing and unpredictable (as we are when honoring our authentic selves) it makes it hard to fix a product to us. We become bad brand ambassadors bc we are unreliable. Also, like Schopenhauer you put the good stuff last. Put your message first! ☺️

Drew, really appreciated your thoughts and editing both at the same time. Loved how you chose to go 3:2 ratio rather than the 16:9...It made it feel retro yet new 😂 This video needs more views, you are very talented!
