Jiyoung debuted on 2008, along w/Hara. They're added after Seunghee left for studies. But yeah, that's what it is. Regardless of the age, if the person is your sunbae, you have to bow at him/her as a sign of respect from a hoobae to a sunbae.

Honestly speaking the truth, I'm a Millennial Kamilia as I became a Kamilia since Step era in 2011 as Nicole was so underrated. My bias Nicole used to be one of the OG Maknae Line with her late bestie Hara and Jiyoung. Now with Hara gone, things are different. If Hara was still alive, she would have been part of the Unnie Line with Gyuri and Seungyeon. In the name of my Kamilia spirit, I always believe in my heart Nicole will always be part of the Maknae Line trio with Jiyoung and Youngji because my Kamilia spirit refused to believe Nicole placed in Unnie Line with Gyuri and Seungyeon as I will feel bad for leaving Hara out.

Yup, Jiyoung and Nicole did not renew their contracts and left in 2013, and Youngji joined in 2014 thru an audition. So KARA5 became KARA4. It split the fandom. Those were dark days. KARA4 lasted another 2 years before the remaining 3 (Seungyeon, Gyuri & Hara) also did not renew their contracts. They're all under different companies now, but came together for this 15th anniversary reunion. Never thought I'll see a day when Jiyoung and Nicole would rejoin the group on stage.

When they first debuted there were 4 girls, Gyuri, Nicole, Seungyeon and Sunghee but Sunghee left the group shortly after the debut and never appeared with them again. So then they added Hara and Jiyoung and there were 5 girls. In 2013 Jiyoung and Nicole left but in 2014 Youngji joined so they were 4 again. In 2019 Hara sadly committed suicide and that’s why when they came back this year “as a whole group” they are 5 of them (gyuri, Nicole, seungyeon, youngji and Jiyoung).

@@tss016 I was not surprised to see Nicole and Jiyoung rejoin the others on stage. They've always been friends and continued to be after they left the group. Even on Nicole's You Tube channel her and Jiyoung took a vacation and also video called Gyuri. Nicole and Seungyeon appeared on each other's You Tube channels as well. There was never conflict between members, just with DSP management. What changed and made this comeback possible was DSP going bankrupt and being sold to RBW. All 5 of them signed contracts with RBW for this comeback. Jiyoung even thanked RBW for supporting them to come back for their 15th anniversary. The funniest part is Nicole and Jiyoung kind of lead the others to return as a group for the anniversary.

IMO, gen 4 didn't begin in 2018 like many people think it did, it began this year with the debut of IVE, LE SSERAFIM, and New Jeans (yes, IVE is technically very late 2021, but I file them under 2022). That's three top-selling new girl groups all showing up in less than a year's time, just like in 2007 when you got three of the most iconic gen 2 girl groups. That's how you properly mark a generational shift.

But you got the wrong point here, gen 2 didn't start from 2007 even tvxq and suju whom debuted 2003 and 2005 are counted as gen 2, so if it based on your point they are counted as gen 1 but i kinda agree tho gen 4 begin in 20's cause gen 3 has the shortest range here like they began in 2012 and ended in 2017

It's a transition in sound, style, and formats, not popularity. Popularity fades and is a false metric that can be skewed by labels with money to toss around and create hype. You can hear the difference in sound and see the difference in dance between the generations. Gen 4 is more on the performance aspect. In sync dancing, flashy moves, back up dancers, and "noisy" (it's up to you to determine for yourself if it's a good thing or not.) Gen3, especially early gen 3 once everyone stopped trying to be (insert ___ group name here) 2.0 and branched out to do their own things have far more focus on vocals rather than the flashy performance moves of gen 4. Listen to the music, look at the dances. There's your generational breaks. Not popularity. That comes and goes. No one's on top forever.

HOWEVER , 2018 debuted groups are NOT More famous more successful than the 2012-2017 debuted groups. BUT the 2022 groups are like IVE. so YES, gen 4 CAN and more likely start at most in 2020+. NOT 2018. the reason why most people start gen 4 at 2018 is because some big company group fans wanted their group to BE the new gen but aren't actually the new gen. they want TXT ,stray kids and even Gidle to be counted as the new gen but none of these groups defeated BTS. the 2022+ debuted groups are the one who become more famous and take the mantle. none of 2018 debuted groups managed to break 3rd gen records set by BTS. stray kids didn't even manage to defeat BTS. IVE was the one who won huge awards , even defeating late 3rd gen groups like Gidle and loona. (and yes, i refused to acknowledge 2018 groups as new gen. imo they are too early to be fourth gen and have not achieved any feats or change of music in their debut year to warrant a generation start after them, unlike 2020+ groups like aespa and IVE). IVE and aespa in their debut song sounds really new gen, unlike stray kids.

the traditional Korean age system just counts how many calendar years you’ve been alive in even if it’s not been a full year. Example: a baby born on 31st Dec is automatically 1yo and on 1st Jan they are now considered 2yo. in Heechul’s case he’s 40 since they count the year he was born in
