Every once in a while I come back and rewatch this video lol. I know she's already said this was a concept but looking back you realise just how important having a female idol like her was. At 06:00 it ironically shows why she's a genius. She noticed her bandmates were uncomfortable to answer the question because it (potentially) would blow up her persona/gimmick. Then she answered the question herself which makes her look dumb, which in a way strengthen her persona even more. Plus having that mentality to always put up that persona on national television and not be bothered when she got slandered, and ALSO always have answers when she got asked ridiculous question. She's truly built to be an entertainer.

I don't think anyone realizes how important it was to have an idol with a concept like Gyuri at this time. She was such a role model for me in the mid 2000s and I wanted to be just as confident and unbothered as she was. Now that I'm grown, I realize it was just a made up concept she used as a defense mechanism, however that somehow makes her seem even more admirable and strong. I don't watch Euphoria but there is this one famous quote from that show that always reminds me of Gyuri, “90% of life is confidence, and the thing about confidence is that no one knows if it's real or not".

Yet she still exudes warmth, charm, and down-to-earth humor, while garnering the much needed publicity for Kara in a competitive and relatively small K-pop market. No one can carry out this persona and feat quite like her, even to this day.
