Cave/Tec divers must be detailed oriented, and able to visualize what they are able to do so everything under water feels familiar.
In this video, Brian Kakuk conducts a briefing of our 120-min dive to the Sanity Room in Dan's Cave. Watch this briefing and see how much detail would you be able to retain and also what emotions do you feel during and after the briefing.

I'm a non-diver, but I think these briefings are awesome to mentally prepare and to protect the caves. there was so much cool and instructional info in the brief, but imagine trying to convey all that during the dive. knowing that the lead diver has intricate knowledge of the entire cave system would instil confidence and a feeling of safety too I imagine.

All I recall, apart from something about a white sand, snow-like floor and the request not to disturb it (that's anxiety inducing), was the remark about fly crawling down a succession of restrictions about 50 meters apart. At that point anxiety fully took over. Bugger that! I'm staying above ground to enjoy your videos from my own dry "safe space"! You have to be so entirely unfazed, focussed and in the moment to dive caves. You can't be up in the air. It's like the necessity of being thoroughly grounded to be able to fly. Wow! I do so admire your experience and composure.

To share some insight to other divers and non-divers alike... Long briefings such as this are also what we do in the public safety diving sector, when we sit down to plan out a recovery or body search. Just like the cave divers briefing, we try to give as much detail as possible to make the dive as safe as possible, because most of our dives are done in zero visibility.. Others may not have picked up on it but if you rewind the video a few times, you will hear some repetitiveness on the safety points he mentions.... Long story short. With new and exciting dive challenges awaiting the brave, such as those found in cave dives, shipwreck penetrations, or diving the public safety world, comes a great responsibility and respect for training, pre-dive planning and safety when about to do those dives. Great video. Hope everyone had a fun day that day. Here's to many more fun and safe dives ahead. Have a great weekend everybody.

Same with military briefings. Unlike business briefings, which generally forget the 'brief' part of that, get sidetrackred or just waffle too much. Did Brian finish that brief with " 'ight"? I probably remember maybe 3/10. I definitely want to go diving. Do y'all ever remember more of the briefing once you are in the cave? I agree with others, more of these would be great. If you really want to flex, you could overlay the dive recording with the briefing to help us non-cave divers visualize what a briefing is describing.

Hi, err about 8 out of 10 but nice dive briefing never had a briefing with so much info... (not cave certified) AOW only. Love your content and yes please do more things like this its nice to see all parts of what you two do rather than just your dive videos. Great work keep it up guys 😁👍
