Hedge veg is one of the best things about Guernsey. Would never work here in Washington, US - except for the books, we do have a couple of roadside library boxes people do. Any cash would be swiped if it were easy enough. There is a farm stand down in town that does have an honesty box but it's very secure and even still they have had repeated theft. Such a shame. Crime is one of the main reasons we are trying to move back to Guernsey. Hopefully soon!!

Yes we have these in Cornwall. I know the cottages at Bordeaux harbour. It's round the corner from my cousin's house who I think still lives in the cottage in front of the power station towers. Do the chickens still run amok at the bottom of the lane. When I used to buy the press and have it posted, it was a major moan in the paper.

Our friend used to sell eggs here in rural Leicestershire but theft of eggs and money was quite common. People are skanky. Well, enough people are. This is why we can't have nice things!

Hello Ross, What a great idea to make a video about honesty boxes! Last July when I came to Guernesey, I did some shopping with great pleasure, in honesty boxes the day before I came back home ( tomatoes, potatoes, eggs, jam....) though I don't know what the custom rules are since Brexit....Fortunatly my car was not controled at the custom, so I brought my shopping home....You asked if honesty boxes are found in other places. There are not in France, but my neighbour who is Scottish told me that there are honesty boxes in the Highlands of Scotland where he comes from.. I have also very much appreciated your video around Portelet, the Imperial Hotel where I stayed in Julty. It made me fell as if I was still on holiday! I have not discovered all your videos yet, there is probably one about Icart Point, but if I may suggest a visit of the little anglican church of Saint Pierre des Bois ( inside and outside). I hope I would be able to come back next summer and visit the parts of the island I don't know yet ( near Bordeaux Harbour). Thank you for the videos of your beautiful island. Yeah,I remember these when I stayed in Guernsey in the 90’s. I was driving through rural Lincolnshire yesterday and noticed some. Would never work in towns and cities sad to say.

Hi Ross, Another great video. This wouldn't work where I live in Essex kids would knick the money and throw the contents into the road which is a shame. I will be returning back to Guernsey in June next year after a 10 year gap, Can't wait. Keep up the good videos.

Hello Ross. Love your channel and this video! The honesty boxes are really intriguing and i think unique to Guernsey and not the mainland (UK). Not visited there since 1992 so can't recall them. If your able to do a video where you do some shopping pickups around the honesty boxes that would be magnificent. Will look forward to future uploads and keep up the good work! 🙂👍

On a different island in the UK people don't lock their front door at night, nor their car ever. It's weird to an outsider but makes perfect sense. Is this a Guernsey thing too?

That's how it was in Cornwall years ago 1980s. It's still not unusual to leave your door open if you just pop out for a moment

No I don't think they would work here in NZ - I may be wrong I have ever seen any. Some of those were by far better than others.

Hi Ross I'm from the uk mainland and I visited a hedge veg not far from the airport i think if i can remember it was like a farm and purchased some vegetables I've been to the same place twice when I've been in Guernsey the first time I saw vegetables for sale like this I was really shocked because in the uk mainland there's no way items would be sold like this because they would just be stolen
