I bought a Player Series Jaguar PJ bass with Ebony board & the 75th Anniversary Player Series Jazz with Maple board... I hotrodded the Jaguar bass with Epic Custom pickups & rewired with Fender push back cloth covered hook up wire, sheilded & new better parts, got original Jazz Bass control knobs with brass inserts, more Bakelite than plastic & a True Tone 4 contact mono output jack socket, 200% more contact & solid fit...not much difference in the tone of these 2 bass's, maybe prefer the Player 2 bass, mostly because of the fretboard, Pao Ferro is a nice sounding wood but to red & light...stained black with a high quality dye they could have kept using them as the tone is good but not so pretty looking as Ebony or a dark Rosewood...good comparison...

What I think is a great improvement in the Player II is the neck feel with the round edges. It's noticeably more comfortable. Not a deal breaker, but a nice touch.

Listening “in-air” with iPhone and its speaker(s). I listened about 3 times all the way through and admittedly while cleaning. I don’t hear the difference… yet. Might have to put headphones on. If I heard any difference, would it matter? To me? Other band mates? An audience? Sound people? I’ve played Jazz Basses for 30 years and am a pro, gigging player. They both sound like the way Jazz Basses should sound in every position. That’s really the main thing, IMO.

No differences 😎👍 For me, the only problem is the increasing (not justified) price and the new colors, that I dont like. The previuos TIDEPOOL was beautiful! Great work as usual by ANTHONY.

Anthony, which Fender Jazz Bass did you test and which one did you like the most? If you could only buy one Fender Jazz Bass, which one would you buy?

I don't particularly care for Rosewood or Pau Ferro fretboards so that's a non starter and I didn't feel that big of a difference with the rolled edges and the sound between the maple fretboards I will probably be basing my choice on color and price

I would love the Player 2 Jazz in Coral Red if it had a rosewood neck!

Both sound good, yet both have buzz though to my ears. I like the Aquatone Blue color.

In this comparison the red Pau Ferro player 1 sounded much rounder and bassy than the rosewood player II 🤔

Not sure your getting rich on a Player bass... ever. That said, I never take a big loss when I sell a Fender of any origin. Thanks for watching - Anthony

@@EmpireMusicPgh well said. It’s just easier to flip / sell used at higher price the rosewood neck bass vs the temporary pao Ferro or jatoba woods

So, Player II is the winner? Player Jazz bass is $600 and Player II Jazz is $800 worth an extra $200? Trying to buy a One Jazz Bass.

Mmm if i would buy a jazz- or p-bass from Fender around 1000, i wold go for a vintera II atm. I guess .. If i would go for a player bass, it would be a jaguar , i think ..

From experience, the player two feels much better. Feels like a nearly American made bass. Sound is fairly similar but the feel on the two is of higher quality.
